Seven days in Tasmania in seven different hotels, and this was the worst by far. The only thing going for it was its location opposite the port entry (which makes for great ship watching experiences). Location wise, its also close to the centre of the city. That's the good bit. There is a restaurant / cafe on site but it was closed for renovations (pity we weren't told this when we booked). The owner(s) obviously don't like people because we never saw or spoke to anyone during check-in or our entire stay. They chose to communicate by text only. The room was very basic and tired and the property had a damp smell. There were also strange noises from other rooms during the night, but we never saw any other guests and the carpark was empty.

The room was hot, air cooler not aircon was inefficient hot air was blowing back into the room thru the funnel, pillows too soft and flat, bath towels small and stiff not soft and fluffy. Not value for money. The only pros:Clean room and large bathroom, easy checkin, nice walking path along the coast, 10 min walk to centre

It seems much harder generally to find a reasonably priced twin room when booking at short notice so I was relieved to find this room. For Devonport I believe that it was good value. Given a previous review I was careful using the tap in bathroom basin and it was fine. It was actually easier to fill the kettle with than with a normal tap. The shower was warm with good pressure. There was a map of Tasmania on the wall which was useful. I liked the coffee machine and the bed was quite comfortable. It was quiet at night during my stay. I had a lovely chat with the new owner Eileen (sorry if I have wrong spelling). She explained that she was a new owner, having only been there for a month, and was working on making improvements. So do not get confused by old reviews or descriptions. It was a very good location, in walking distance of the beach or the shops.

Stayed at the Dannebrog Lodge for one night for an event down in Tassie, must say it was great had all the necessities needed including a large bed, TV, shower/toilet and a nice view, was all clean, and had very nice staff. 🙂

This accommodation was perfect for out planned brief stay after travelling in Tasmania before catching the morning ferry back to Melbourne. Hosts very kindly provided kettle for heating water for our thermoses, accommodated us for an additional night at very short notice when our ferry travel was delayed by port closure, and making frequent friendly inquiries about our comfort. The property provided very convenient parking and was an easy walk to city and waterfront destinations for shopping, dining and sightseeing, and close proximity for ferry boarding. The riverfront dining room was wonderful for a sunny breakfast and friendly chat with other guests. Highly recommend.

We had an excellent time, great folks, comfortable room and a solid location. We arrived quite late and they really accommodated us and made us feel extra welcome. We enjoyed a great breakfast and the coffee pods in the room are delicious
