I have just come back a day earlier than planned. Food great bedroom bit small but does the job. I got ripped off by the guy behind the bar, overcharged me for last night's food and drinks, he didn't think I noticed but I did and discussed it with the barmaid infront of me but didn't think I was listening but I was. I Told hhe manager why I was leaving a day early and he didn't seem to fussed. Shame on you. I for one will not be returning.

Just returned from a long weekend and would like to thank all staff for their excellent hospitality.very clean and spacious rooms(111) great little bar in reception and Ash the barman is pleasant and eager to please you , breakfast was 1 of the best we’ve had at a b/b. If the sun is out there is a lovely terrace to chill on and must thank Angela for a well kept room . Thanks again Mereside staff

A lovely stay at the Mereside, great accommodation in a large accessible room, we were so pleased that our emailed request was taken into account as my wife has mobility issues and needs to be near a lift. The food in the HQ restaurant was brilliant for breakfast and evening meal, we decided to eat there every evening of our 5 night stay as it was so good. Service at all times was friendly, polite and courteous, credit to all staff but in particular owner/manager Angela who was always very jovial and hard working. The hotel was located in a rather crowded location and parking is on the roadside up steep hill but at least parking was more available than elsewhere in Douglas. If we ever return to Douglas we will not hesitate to stay at the Mereside.

Just had a few days on the IOM and stayed at Mereside. Great base for staying in Douglas, very close to sea front and also the transport network, walking distance to Steam Railway, Horse tram and Electric Tramway and the bus service is excellent. The hotel/rooms were lovely, clean and modern and the breakfasts were excellent, with a good choice daily. All the staff we encountered were lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble....... even made friends with Ron the hotel handyman. If we were to visit again would not hesitate to book the Mereside.

We booked a four night stay here to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. On the positive side, the room was smart, well furnished and the beds were particularly comfortable, with quality bedding. The heating and hot water were efficient too. Likewise the breakfast choice was extensive for a small establishment and everything was well cooked. On the phone with the owner I explained I needed a free-standing shower (not over a bath) and near to the lift as I had mobility issues. We got what was supposed to be an extra spacious bedroom with a wet room. I dread to think what size the other rooms would be, as ours was only what I would have expected, and it was only a wet room because there was literally no room to include a shower cubicle! There were a variety of handrails provided, which were very necessary, as the floor became quite slippy when wet, and the water extended right up to the doorway even after a very quick shower. The biggest negative, however was the lack of evening dining in-house, which was one reason we had chosen this accommodation. This was due to the lack of a chef, but we only found out an hour before we were ready to eat! Thankfully the accommodation opposite (Wellbeck) did evening meals. A word of warning if you intend to leave on one of the first ferries of the day - breakfast isn't served until 8am. They will do you a pack, to pick up before you leave but we were leaving at 6am, so we made our own arrangements courtesy of Tesco.

Just returned from the Mereside staying for 3 nights as a solo traveller. Best decision I made to stay at this hotel. Everyone was just lovely ,friendly, helpful I didnt feel alone at all. My room was very clean tidy and well maintained, Plenty of storage space, tea and coffee making facilities could just see the sea out my window . Cereals and juice and toast as well as full breakfast cooked to order which was fab and I had a roast dinner which was simply cooked to perfection and at a reasonable price too. The bar is a little friendly bar serving lots of choice of drinks etc. I would recommend this hotel if your unsure. There is a spar just around the corner which was handy etc I will be returning for sure !..

We really loved this hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Great buffet breakfast, with plenty of choice. The room was very clean and comfortable, plenty of space. The bar and terrace were very good and the lift was an added bonus! Great location, only a few yards from the seafront and amenities, the Mereside will be our first choice when returning to the Island. Great place to stay.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful (my daughter has a learning disability); the breakfast was good-variety of food, well cooked (buffet style); room was spacious -with a wet room- and everything was in a good state of repair. Good location-less than 100m from main promenade Would definitely recommend /stay again

Loved the place, it was a great stay, the food in the restaurant was absolutely outstanding. The rooms were tidy, the lift really helped and will definitely return. Nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was great, the bar was great and a great atmosphere.

Comfortable room, nothing special but ensuite, with tea/coffee, tv and pretty good bed. Very happy with this for the price. Good location very close to the sea front, but quiet, it was nice to be able to open windows and still get a good night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent, although I definitely need a few days off after 5 full English. WiFi worked just fine in the restaurant, but didn't reach my room on the first floor, this wasn't great as several days of my stay was work related. If this could have been sorted it would have received the extra point. I did raise the issue with reception. This is not a luxurious hotel, but is comfortable and well priced.

We have just arrived back from a 5 night stay at the Mereside,a fabulous place to stay,our room was a lovely size with a comfortable bed so we slept well,lovely modern bathroom too,the whole place is spotlessly clean,the staff were all friendly & welcoming & attentive,also the breakfast was delicious & plenty of choice,would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel just a minute back from the Prom. Great location and bus stop about a minute away situated on the prom, ideal to get the bus from airport as its only £3.10. Around a 12 min walk down the prom into town, Spar shop about 2 mins walk away. Breakfast choices a plenty with cerial, cooked breakfast and even Manx Kippers on offer. Great bar with drinks (including cask) reasonably priced, as for the rooms spacious with freeview TV, kettle with tea and coffee, modern looking bathroom and comfy beds. If you are at the top of the hotel like I was there is a lift to help you and in the corridor from lift a iron is available with iron board. Staff plesent and could not do enough for you. Definitely recommend this hotel.
