The Mespil is a lovely, luxurious hotel with spacious rooms in a quiet area about a 15-minute walk to/from or short taxi ride to the city center, with many restaurants & a Tesco grocery store nearby. We splurged & booked the Superior Executive King Room. Rates are reasonable in expensive Dublin so reserve early because the hotel often sells out in high season. So much space for everything, a huge bathroom, a safe & fridge & plenty of places to put your clothes & things. We even got chocolates in our room upon arrival. Megan in customer service was outstanding & sent helpful emails ahead of time to help us plan what to do on our 1st trip to Ireland. Hotel has a concierge that will help you plan tours but do also look at other tour companies as none of the ones we wanted to use stop at the hotel. Keep in mind that the breakfast is not included and we paid about 17 euros each, even with the highest price room. That’s my only issue with the Mespil—shame breakfast isn’t included. However, if you go out on tours of Ireland like we did, one needs to be at tour stops around 7am so there won’t be time for breakfast at the hotel. As an Irish American, I loved visiting my ancestral homeland & hope to return someday to the Emerald Isle. When I do, I will stay at the Mespil again.
