皇家頓克爾德酒店(Royal Dunkeld Hotel)

The hotel is on the main street of Dunkeld but my room window was to the internal yard with hotel parking. Very calm location. Good size room. Very large screen TV set with Netflix. Great choice for breakfast with large portions. Very polite and helpful hotel staff.

Bought an itison voucher a while ago and just remembered to use it! When I reserved by phone I was offered an annex room to the rear of the hotel which might be easier with having a dog. Upon arrival, I asked for a room within the hotel as I was travelling alone and this felt more secure, and this was kindly accommodated. The room was nicely decorated and clean. Bathroom functional but a bit tight on space, some big boned folk might struggle. I read reviews about no heating or hot water but I found the hotel very warm and the water was hot. Breakfast was very nice and plentiful and staff were friendly and helpful. I waited a while to be seated and I could see the 2 staff were very busy. Could probably do with another member of staff supporting at breakfast. My room overlooked the car park to the rear so traffic noise wasn't an issue and I kept the window open. There was a noise like a tumble dryer for a while but it didn't last too long. Overall I slept well. Nice location with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and lovely walks. I would return to stay again.

Nos dieron de cenar en un comedor casi a oscuras, no tiene ascensor, habitación grande pero peor de lo que parece y baño diminuto y viejo y finalmente, el desayuno te lo sirven en el plato con lo que no tienes oportunidad de elegir nada. Sólo salvo a los camareros.

Wonderful location in Dunkeld but service was generally slow or simply poor. I was woken in the early hours by icy water dripping onto my bed. Tried to alert staff but no Night Porter. Was charged the full amount onto my card and despite best efforts ,so far, no compensation forthcoming. Not impressed.

Hotel was very quaint, some of the carpets a bit warn but this adds to the charm. Twin room was small but beds were very comfortable. Shower was powerful, nice and hot. WiFi wasn't great or tv reception so take a good book. Very peaceful location. Staff were friendly and very good breakfast with a good choice. Definitely recommend this hotel and I will be back.

The ‘annexe’ is a wooden hut in the middle of the hotel car park. There was a terrible smell of sewage / drains - so bad that I couldn’t stay there. The hotel acknowledged the problem but couldn’t offer another room or any solution, so I had to find alternative accommodation (at very short notice and double the price). The hotel promised a refund on the next working day, but this hasn’t happened despite repeated messages, emails and phone calls.

The cold and low quality cooked breakfast topped off what was an awful waste of money for a room at the price we paid. Room very small in an outside hut. Would advise against but then accommodation demand outstrips availability.

We had three days of fishing and walking in the area. We arrived at the hotel to find no heating and no hot water, various conversations with manager and reception staff were a merry go round of ‘ it will be fixed soon and it will be fixed by tomorrow! Needless to say it was never fixed, the entire hotel was freezing and we had to boil the kettle to get a wash. Coats had to be worn at breakfast because it was so cold. There were no backup heaters available and the only room which had a working heater was the bar. We were aghast that the company kept taking bookings for a hotel which failed to provide basics like heat and hot water. Absolutely disgusting ,taking money and failing to provide a service. Melville Hotel group shame on you!!

Very disappointed to say the least. We purchased as a gift, a voucher from ITison for an over night stay, with breakfast, dinner and drinks reception and a rod stewart tribute act for family. We have tried to book the room (states 4 weeks in advance of chosen date) for 14th June to be told there are no rooms available. This has been paid for and travel paid for and arranged for this date . We have been told there are no rooms available but we can just get our money back from Itison. Surely the rooms should be held for the amount of vouchers sold and paid for and not released for booking. Absolutely embarrassing that we now have to tell family this won’t go ahead and their gift is not available. Also the facts we are out of pocket for travel costs. Shocking that a business thinks this is acceptable. I will avoid in the future.
