林浦斯通莊園酒店(Lympstone Manor Hotel)

We just stayed for the night (& dinner) before going on to holiday in Cornwall. This was our third visit to Lympstone. So how did it compare to previous visits? The hotel is in a beautiful location, especially if the weather is kind and the sun shines to show off the delightful views. Fortunately that was what we got and so I’ve uploaded some photos. We choose yet another different room. Last time was Oystercatcher. This time was Kingfisher. Both of these mini suites / rooms have uninterpreted views do to the estuary. With the afternoon sun temperatures were quickly in the 20c’s and it was lovely. We enjoyed light refreshments and enjoyed the views after our drive. Dinner as always was a delight. The man can sure cook. On a serious point, I fail to understand why Lympstone doesn’t warrant a second Michelin star. Our experiences of a recent 1*’s & 2*’s says Michael Caine is still at the very top of his game. One slightly disappointment, echoed by the guests at the next table to us as well, was breakfast. Why does it take a short order chef over 20 minutes to produce poached eggs? So the whole breakfast thing was slow and correspondingly disappointing.

Lympstone Manor is set in the most stunning, peaceful and tranquil location, views of the estuary surround it, The service and care from the staff was excellent. The food and wine was outstanding, as you would expect from a Michelin star chef. We had a fabulous informal evening singing with the Shanty Men and enjoying a fantastic fish dinner with wine pairing for each dish. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Michael Caines, who is such a lovely and kind man. I would highly recommend Lympstone Manor, you can tour his vineyard, enjoy long walks or bike rides around the estuary, you would without doubt have exceptional food and wine. A wonderful place for a special occasion. We can’t wait to return.

Top food , top wine , lovely location and ambiance. Staff attentive , knowledgeable and polite. Would highly recommend

Exceptional food, restaurant needs a high class Maitre ‘d to finesse the dining experience. Main dining area lacked personality. Hotel was average but for the price poor in terms of guest welcome and personalisation. Great setting but staff not experienced enough to fully immerse the guests.

Having seen Lympstone in the Hairy Bikers last show, we had to visit. It did not disappoint. Our first evening we ate in the pool house restaurant a slightly more relaxed environment. The food was served and presented very well. The pièce de résistence was the taster menu of meat and fish. It was presented like works of art and every mouthful was thoroughly enjoyed. The sommelier recommended some excellent wine and this added to our enjoyment. We hope to go back soon.

Superb meal and staff attended to our every need. Beautiful location and delightful property. Stayed in a shepherds hut - very cosy and had everything we needed.

Much too small for comfort. AS we stayed in one of the Shepherd Huts this review is not relevant to the rest of the hotel rooms.

Chosen to celebrate our Ruby Anniversary. Couldn't have done any better. Great service and attention to detail
