What a lovely hotel ,food was excellent along with service ,lovely atmosphere whole heartedly recommend a visit .the owners made you feel very welcome and homely ,locals in the bar very friendly ,they cater for functions etc thank you so much for a welcoming and relaxing visit

We booked to come here for our Christmas Day lunch. My Dad paid in full for 5 of us. Sadly my Dad passed away on Dec8th. We informed the hotel asap so that they could resell the table. They refuse to give us any of the £400plus money back.

The hotel feels and looks very dated, however was generally clean enough. My room was very basic, but functional and I slept well. However, the title makes you believe this hotel will be grander than it is. The kettle in my room was beyond disgusting and it wasn’t just discolouration, but looked like years of deep-seated grime from lots of grubby hands… so I didn’t bother making a morning drink and headed straight out without going for breakfast either. The staff were friendly, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again sadly.

Well run, clean, comfortable small hotel with good food - would definitely revisit. Helpful staff, comfortable accommodation with friendly atmosphere. Had not heard ofvthis hotel before but well worth a visit.

The owner greeted us at the door and was very helpful throughout our stay. They even got an ice pack for my son who had injured his knee on his Lake District challenge. The bedroom was clean we all had a good nights sleep, great shower in the clean bathroom is just what we all needed. All the staff were friendly and the beer in the bar was good too. The hotel is set in love lovely village and we enjoyed sitting out in the garden too. We didn’t eat there but probably should have as other visitors had enjoyed their meals. Ideal location for the northern lakes.

Top place. Room was very spacious, modern and clean. Kettle, coffee, tea and biscuits which were topped every day. Restaurant was great. Reasonably priced and food was excellent. Must have the fish and chips. Best I've ever had. Breakfast was brilliant too especially the poached eggs. Quality items and locally sourced. There's a continental breakfast included. The service from all staff, ie cleaners, bar, waiters etc... was great aswell. Couldn't fault anything. Paula, the owner was very friendly, helpful with a great sense of humour. She's lovely. A brilliant place to stay and is within reach of the lakes, mountains, keswick etc. The hotel is so peaceful with lovely gardens. Pet friendly. Would recommend 100 per cent. Thank you!!!

Had a lovely stay , friendly staff , clean rooms , fully equipped , lovely views , Breakfast and evening meals were delicious , can't fault this hidden gem , will definitely be back , highly recommended thankyou

Stayed in Bay Tree Cottage just across the road for a weeks break. We used the hotel for breakfast and evening meals and drinks. Food was perfect and consistently good. Staff looked after us very well.

Very nice hotel in a lovely quiet location. Good service on reception and in the bar and restaurant - food is wonderful - eat in the nice cosy bar area or dining room overlooking the gardens - or outside :-). Large and safe cycle storage area - great place for a stopover or to use as a central base for a longer stay
