Martin's is a beautifully decorated first class quality guesthouse. Very welcoming, warm and friendly, with a chat on places to go and see. The wife managed to have a fall whilst out sightseeing and bruised her hip etc, after a trip the Edinburgh Hospital (which was also brilliant - in and out within 75 mins and this included an X-Ray) this was mentioned to Stephen and he supplied a hot water bottle to help ease the pain. Things like the towel rail and room heating on for arrival so you got out of the shower to a warm towel. Lighting candles after sunset so the entrance was romantic and inviting. The quality of the lamps, beds, doonas and fittings. Every detail was considered. I absolutely loved my stay at Martin's Guest House. It felt incredibly welcoming from the beginning and my room on the top floor was very cozy. Thank you so so much to the owner for the warm welcome, the flexibility with the extended stay and the delicious breakfast. I think this is the best place to stay in Edinburgh and would highly recommend it. It is on a quiet street but with great transport links to the city centre, shops and cafes nearby, and fabulous views from the top floor. It will feel like a home away from home. I honestly did not want to leave.

Stephen is a wonderful host, the property was clean and beautiful, and we would love to go back. The location is great and the breakfasts were lovely. Every detail is thought of - truly an exceptional stay. Thank you, Stephen and your elves!

I had the best time at Martin's Guesthouse. I was in a "princess" room, very charming and comfortable, with an amazing bathroom. Everything was very clean and well tended. Most of all, Stephen was very welcoming and helpful,he gave me advice about sightseeing and the last day I could leave my bag at the guesthouse for the day until my flight. Also, it's an easy walk to the old city centre (under 20 minutes), to the Meadows and Holyrood parks...

I was going to book a hotel, but came across Martins Guest House. So glad I did, it was perfect, clean, great location, parking, great breakfast, but most of all The Martin team were amazing, kind, professional and so efficient, highly recommend.

Absolute Perfection I had an Immaculate and modern room, plenty of towels, soap, shower gel, toilet rolls and tea coffee etc. fresh water in room and help yourself to fresh milk, which is near front door in a fridge. Parking is available. I managed to park close by for free over a weekend. Bus into centre is very close, it’s £1.90 for single journey and £4.?? For day pass. I got a taxi from Waverley and it was £8.00. Breakfast was good restaurant quality, even my tomato as the tastiest ever! Reasonably priced for breakfast and room, Good value for Edinburgh. Close to where you may wish to visit and I felt extremely safe as a singleton. The owner cannot do enough for his guests, any query quickly answered. I really would love to go back again soon

Stephen is incredible kind. The breakfast is really, really good. The atmosphere and of the place is great and comfortable. The rooms are really comfortable, but not too big. Location is good. A little bit expensive.

Loved the room, location, and staff who checked me in. Adored the view from my room as well. I was at the very top of the stairs; be prepared to carry your luggage up many stairs.

The guest house in general is very good. The decoration is first class, the breakfast is very good. However, the bedrooms seem to have just one WiFi access point and connectivity and broadband speed are both very bad. Very good - if WiFi is not required. Not so good - if good WiFi required.
