除了下面描述的情況突顯酒店管理不到位之外,窗外還對正垃圾站和工地,早上很早就被推垃圾筒和工地的聲音吵聲,至少在未來的兩年不建議住這酒店。
The journey started with an unpleasant feeling from the very first day upon check-in, however, the feeling seemed getting a little better because the room looked pretty good though a layer of dust was found on the top of the Nespresso machine and a broken bed side lamp was also being found later. A feeling of the SOP was not followed well thus aroused. The following couple of days stay confirmed the feeling was correct.
On the very first night, the shampoo bottle was found empty while taking the shower. But never mind, it might be the maid forgot to fill up.
On the following day, the room was not serviced even though the “This is time to explore (SERVICE MY ROOM)” tag was hanged on the door knob. When called upon the reception, the lady asked:
“Have you put a tag outside the room?”.
Upon answered yes, she started to blabla… that:
“We will not go inside with a tag being hanged outside.”
before asking which side is being shown on the cardboard, pity.
After calling the reception for over three times a staff came finally with towels. It was grateful that he brought Nespresso pods, small bottles of shampoo and shower gel and, clear and carted away the trash in the bins afterwards. He also replaced the broken lamp bulb as well. From our conversation, we know that this is not an isolated incidence, other tourists have complained the same issue of not having the room cleaned but the hotel decided not to sack the cleaning staff but continue to pay for someone who clearly do not want to do his/her job right.
On the third day, it is re-confirmed the “This is time to explore (SERVICE MY ROOM)” tag was hanged on the door knob when leaving the hotel. It is deeply dismayed that:
1. the shampoo and shower gel bottles were still empty;
2. the trash bin inside the bathroom was still full;
3. the facial paper box was still empty.
4. the mini bar was not refilled;
After calling the reception, the hotel just brought a box of tissue and couple of Nespresso pods. No one pick up the trash bin inside the bath room.
The performance and control of the ventilation and air conditioning was poor. Firstly, the air con could not be turned on through the thermostat in the room, it required to phone the front desk whenever needed to turn on the ac and it was shut down a short period after, then it required to phone the front desk again to turn it on (which this arrangement was rather silly). Not to mention the rather dismissing attitude on the other end of telephone when we ask to turn aircon on. If the compressor was not in operation this time, at least the blower should be able to turned on to enable the air circulation inside the room to avoid stagnant air and make use the fresh cool air outside. What a peculiar design. Secondly the ventilation was extremely poor it required a considerable time to remove the odor and moisture of the bathroom after each use, the experience was awful.
Finally, it was hard to imagine what is the purpose of displaying the notice “This is Royal” if there is no intention to provide slippers, bathmat, international plug adaptor, umbrella and an empty fridge. This is truly silly and confusing.
This is the first time stay in this hotel and definitely is the last time as well.
For anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay in Edinburgh, This hotel would not definitely would not be on the list. It has failed the bare minimum of being a hotel.
