This stay was very disappointing. While the location on Pacific Coast Highway seemed attractive, with traffic and trains going by, parking and crowds, it was unpleasant. The room claimed to have a kitchenette. There were no spoons and only 1 fork, no counter space. Shower was dirty, floor was dirty. Pillows were rock hard. For the price it was beneath the quality of a standard hotel.

Really crappy beds, gave both me and my girlfriend soar backs
Trains passing through every hour that made a lot of noice and kept us from sleeping restfully
Strong smell of mold in the bathroom
The air condition was really loud, even on the low level cooling and competed with the trains (think the air conditioning won with a small margin)

Besides the bad odor and someone knocking at someone’s door like it was a police raid around 1:00 am I guess you can say it’s an ok place. But even after buying deodorizers smell was still there. Hotel is dated but it’s nice. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a small grocery store right next but it closes really early. Like someone else said in a different review if you’re not going to be spending time in the room then this place is ok to just try to get some rest. Other then that I probably will not be staying here again.

The building is an adorable, early 20th century spanish-style roadside inn on the outside with some less adorable more recent updates on the inside.
The room was clean, the bed was comfy, there's a table to eat at and a small kitchen with an electric range, pots and pans and two table settings.
It's right on the main drag so there is some road and amtrak/coaster noise that we found easy to ignore.
Overall this place is great and we would absolutely stay here again. We love the area and the gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful.

Always a calm peaceful stay. Very clean, nice little kitchenette area with real dishes, micro, minfrig, comfy bed, quiet, super little area with market, places to eat, and the friendliest host in town, Mr. Mark.

Rooms are overpriced as they are extremely small and parking is very limited among other inconveniences: The the stove in the kitchenette takes forever to heat, it is very dated; you get one spoon and 5 knifes, half fork. The room has no actual heating; a heater which requires an unsafe extension cord is provided. The bathroom is extremely small. The mattress is very uncomfortable. Paper thin walls you can hear people slamming doors. All other motels provide a card to access the room but here you get a key. There is a pet fee yet there are no water bowls or relief areas; let alone a park within reasonable walking distance. There is no actual close beach, rather a 30 min walk including some unsafe cliffs and it is full of pebbles and very dirty. Rude owner will harass you during your naps for being parked within one millimeter of the parking line yet at night he does not check for he humongous trucks using two entire parking spots. No disabled parking. There is a coaster train that makes noise at night that will wake you up at least twice. This is really more like a passing through one-night emergency stay, not an actual place to rest, you have to drive to get to amenities. I recommend a Motel 6 instead of this place so you don't feel like in european hostel. For the price they charge, buffet breakfast should be included. Avoid if possible.

Clean comfy rooms that allow us return and enjoy the area every year. The property is small but we enjoy that. Rooms however are a good size.

This is an affordable, clean and comfortable place to stay within walking distance of the ocean and beach. The rooms can be noisy due to road traffic and the train. Bring a sound machine!
