An excellent day at this beautiful hotel, quintessentially English with impeccable service. We stayed in room number 19 a courtyard suite which we were upgraded to from a superior king, upon arrival we were greeted at our car by a lovely man with an umbrella as it was raining, he escorted us to reception. We were slightly early but our room was ready and we were checked in speedily shortly after getting into our room. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne cocktail. It was an anniversary overnight stay and our room was furnished with a happy anniversary pillow and happy anniversary chocolates this was a lovely surprise. Our room opened out onto a small courtyard with two sunbeds, this area was very useful for our dogs last thing at night. Our morning breakfast was in the breakfast room, which is a delightful room beautifully furnished, our breakfast was leisurely and very tasty and the staff could not do enough for us. The spa is a beautiful building a few steps away from the hotel. The indoor pool is a lovely temperature and there are beds around the pool in order to have a lazy day. We didn’t use the treatments from the spa as we didn’t have enough time, but the treatment menu , was reasonably priced and many treatments to choose from. We had dinner at the Acorn pub which is also owned by the hotel. The staff here are also very friendly and kind. They also allow dogs. We will definitely be back to Summer Lodge one day in the future. Thank you to everyone who made our stay SO special.

I visited Summer Lodge with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We ordered a cream tea which was advertised as freshly baked scones daily. We were shown to the drawing room and sat down. Then a waiter came to ask what tea we would like and tried to joke with us which was not necessary. The scones arrived and were frozen in the middle! So much for freshly baked scones! When I complained the waiter then said ' so much for our freshly baked scones!' Then joked that we must have got them out of our handbags! Totally inappropriate. Not a great experience for parting with £34 for 2 cream teas! The building and setting is very lovely. A shame that our experience was not up to expected standards.

Stayed here as a last-minute break and got four nights for the price of three. Stayed in a lovely room in the cottage which was just 80 metres from the main hotel. It was a nice walk over especially in the sunshine, took about two minutes. Beautifully appointed room with an amazing copper bathtub, shower, and two sinks. Not your average bathroom. All spotlessly clean. The main house is lovely, the staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Everything from check-in to check-out was perfect. The food in the restaurant is fine dining, quality of food both in the evening and at breakfast is top notch. All locally sourced and they tell you where it has come from. We used the spa for treatments and the two ladies there were very professional and friendly. Great salt scrub and facial and my husband had a full body massage. All great treatments. The pool and jacuzzi are very clean and we spent some time on the sunbeds after our treatments. We were blessed with the weather but the room had a gas fire and we did use it as it was a little chilly in the evening but the room soon warmed up. You get complimentary water, apples and shortbread. Don't miss that! I would go back here in a heartbeat. Best hotel I have stayed in for a while. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I took my husband for his first ever “spa experience” and we both had a wonderful time. The spa is luxurious and his therapist managed to release shoulder tension that he has had for years. We relaxed at the pool, sat in the jacuzzi and enjoyed the sunshine outside too. Plenty of fresh water and fruit provided and the softest towels, slippers and gowns. Later, we walked through the gardens which are gorgeous and ended with a delicious cream tea in the hotel conservatory. The perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon and we will definitely be back!

Firstly, thank you all for my competition win facial. The Elemis products are wonderful and a change for me as I use Dermalogica. Emma was a great therapist, knowledgeable re products, friendly and welcoming. I will most definitely return as the setting is wonderful, the facilities lovely and most importantly the staff friendly.
