Just got back from a week long stay at the hotel and it was great. There were 3 of us, myself my mum and my 15 year old son, so we booked a family room with 2 bedrooms. The room was fine with plenty of space and a decent bathroom with big shower. There was a small fridge in one of the rooms and the only thing we felt it missed was a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities. It was my sons birthday while we were there and the staff arranged a cake for us and sang happy birthday to him which was lovely. We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast buffet had plenty of choice of continental, fruit, bread and pastries, cereal and a hot selection with made to order fried eggs and omelettes. Would definitely recommend for families as the pools are ideal for kids and is very family friendly
Pros - Location - Spa - Roof top pool - Food Hotel within easy distance to harbour, bars, shops, and local transport. Rooms spacious and very clean. Cons - busy road opposite two petrol stations and traffic heavy all day. Staff on reception not helpful or accommodating. There is no air conditioning and our room on arrival at midnight was 26.5°. We couldn't believe it and had to insist on two fans that we left on permanently all night and the day when we were in the room. Some of the electric sockets and plugs had loose wiring so we had to keep reporting faults. Our main complaint was the heavy smell of petrol that we assumed came from the petrol station. When we phoned reception to request a move to another room we were told there were no more twin bedded rooms available but for what is classified as a five star hotel, I'm sure they could have accommodated us. The stench was overwhelming. Finally after calling in one of the cleaners she indicated it wasn't the petrol stations but the drain in the shower that she would clean out. That evening on returning to the room, the smell had gone. However next morning it started to seep in again. We called in another cleaner and pointed out the stench and showed her the sockets that didn't work. She said leave it to me and that night everything was fixed but we only had two nights left of our holiday. The cleaner's name was Hava and I would like to commend her to the hotel management. Our conversation was done though my translation app and sign language. In spite of everything we enjoyed our stay as the pros outweighed the cons. Would not stay at this hotel again until it is modernised. The summer months must be unbearable.
I want to begin by saying that the bar staff, pool staff, cleaners etc. are the friendliest, most welcoming people and so this review does not reflect on them at all.
So we booked for 2 adults and 1 child (13years) through trip.com. After an overnight flight and being extremely tired, we finally arrived at reception to be told that no, we had only booked for 2 adults.
We quickly showed the reception staff our email which said '2 adults, 1 child (13years)'. The man on reception told us that there was a comma and not a plus sign and so that meant that it wasn't plus 1 child. This completely baffled as why would the email have a child and age if not booked regardless of commas/+ signs and we continued to insist that we had booked for all of us.
After some back and forth, he decided to ring the manager who promptly said that it wasn't something she would accept and that we would have to pay extra for our child.
The man told us this and said that as we hadn't booked through the hotel, this wasn't his problem and that I could take it up with trip.com.
Now, 2 flights, no sleep and the fact that I have various conditions that effect my mental health so much that I am registered disabled, I admit I responded harshly at this point.
How can you advertise through a 3rd party website, be shown the confirmation, and still tell paying customers that this is your problem, not mine? Even if this were true, wouldn't a more appropriate response be 'You clearly have a booking and have come a long way, let's get you settled in a room and then we can either contact trip.com or help you contact them to get this sorted out'?
I then asked to speak to the manager myself- the member of staff phoned her but she refused to come to the phone and said if we were unhappy, to cancel our booking and then shut the phone. Cancel and go where with what money? Were we supposed to walk back to London in order to have somewhere safe to sleep?
There was no budge and around an hour after arrival, we were told by trip.com to pay the extra and they would refund us. Kudos to them, we were refunded within 2 days and they were extremely helpful.
After all of this, there were so many issues with the hotel itself - street digs in the pool, ceiling in living room crumbling and falling, dirty sheets and tiles, the shower flooded every day and at one point was a waterfall down the stairs into the living room and we had to use wvery towel we had to soak it all up, ants everywhere, the list is endless and I have added pictures so people can see it for themselves.
I am so disappointed the whole experience was an absolute shambles.
To top it all off, I was telling a friend who lives in Cyprus and he knew the owner. He phoned the owner to tell him and the next day we were offered a free meal as an apology - so just because I had a contact, and the owner told you off, you give me a gesture of goodwill? What if I hadn't known anyone, would this gesture have even existed? Or would you have just told us it wasn't your problem? We refused.
Disgraceful.
Arrived early hours of the morning around 2am, after travelling all day, taxi dropped us at the closed part of the hotel, it then took us another hour to actually find reception, so automatically it was a bad start, got to reception and was greeted by a lovely guy who got us checked in prompt and helped us to our room. Room was clean and spacious, we got a main hotel room, lovely view from balcony. I originally asked for a low level room but upon arrival none was available, but I was left a lovely letter explaining the situation so I stayed in the room given as not to give the hotel the bother of moving us. But the letter was a very personal touch. Breakfast is traditional turkish style breakfast, with a choice of eggs after, very nice breakfast with delicious lemon juice. Food from the cafe is also beautiful and very reasonably priced. Pool was quiet and relaxing, very easy to find a sunbed, guy who sits at the pool will go get you drinks, food etc Leaving early morning to come home and the hotel kindly made us sandwiches for our travels Thank you Topset for a lovely relaxing stay :)
