新南陸酒店(The New Southlands Hotel)

Well placed for where I was working. Quiet room. I slept very well. Parking is not free, it's £6per day. The room was OK but quite tatty, bathroom was less than appealing, lots of old limescale and grubby grouting. Plughole and overflow in basin needed a good clean /descale and toilet pan was brown below the waterline. Paint on corner of bedroom looked like it was /had been leaking as stain marks.

The hotel is typical 3*. The room we were allocated was small and in particular the shower. At the time of our visit the thermostat on the shower was not working so it was not possible to control the temperature. It was very hot! The hotel is on the South Cliff with limited restaurants and bars available. However staff were very friendly generally very helpful.

Hotel looked very stylish on arrival. Rooms were disappointing. One room was quite small with tiny shower cubicle that had a curtain. The hotel did change this room on our request, however room very small and not quite what was expected. It was only for one nights stay. Receptionists were very helpful.

Had a one night stay here while visiting Scarborough for the open air theatre. The room was comfotable, had all amenities required (tea and coffee, hair drier, television etc) and a large built in wardrobe. The room was very warm and the old sash windows do not open very far, however there was a fan in the room, which was very much needed. It’s around a 10 minute walk down to the sea front so conveniently located for those who don’t want to drive around. The car park cost £6, which staff gave us a voucher to scan upon leaving, you have to leave the car park by 11am on the day of leaving, which is ok as check out is at 10am. Only complaints are due to the age of the hotel it’s quite creaky so when the guests above woke at 6am, so did we.

The hotel is an old building. The ground floor is very nicely decorated and carpeted, unfortunately not all floors are the same. The windows are old and rattle. I understand that they can't open fully due to health and safety regulations but when it is hot like it was during our stay you need some air in the room and you could not get this. There is no air conditioning. Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was good with a buffet of; cereals, fruit and yogurt, toast, pastries and full cooked breakfast. The lift was out or order which were were told about before our stay and did not present a problem. Good location and parking on site - charge £6 per day.

One of the worst hotel stays weve ever had. First thing we noticed when entering the room is blood looking stains on the duvet cover. We went straight back down and asked for new room. The reception guy was really nice, he said everyone hates the room we were assigned but the hotel was fully booked, being that it was 11pm our only option was to have the bedding changed. We woke up the next morning and in daylight we found black mould everywhere, rain water leaking from 3 spots on the ceiling and the window not able to fully shut. The room looked nothing like the pictires online, on talking to a few people it seems the rooms on the third floor (ours was 303) and reseved for cheaper bookings and not maintained. Absoluetly disgusting rooms which are probably a health hazard

The only thing i would improve are the pillows on the bed - neither of us slept very well as the pillows were not at all comfortable. Everything else was first class.

There was no lift working and we were given a room on the fourth floor and at 86years of age we decided to leave the next morning but the manager said mthat we could have a room on the first floor which was lovely so we decided to stay
