This was a very scary place! The webpage states a refrigerator in every room but that's not true. There is a community one in the lobby. It also stated a microwave which is also in the dirty lobby. We only stayed for 2 hours before we didn't feel safe and the entire building was filthy! We checked out and were told that the manager would call us in the morning which never happened. Our room had an empty Kleenex box, the tub was dirty and the sheets looked like they had not been washed. When I went to check out because of not feeling safe, the person on call came out in her bathrobe with her child! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BOOKING HERE!

Good & quiet location. Friendly service and discounted rates with amazing room. Front desk staff goes beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable. Close to mall , restaurant and university. You can not ask anything more . I will stay again at this property .

Although it's a bit hidden and hard to find I loved convenience of the location! It is right next to the mall and other shopping plazas and many restaurants. The kind ladies that work the front desk were very accommodating. They were lovely to be around and made my family feel very welcomed. My stay was very quiet and I had the best hotel coffee I've ever had when I woke up lol very strong! I would recommend this place definitely get your money's worth!

My son and I came to Fort Wayne on a last minute opportunity to play in a basketball tournament. Prior to making the 9-10 hour drive from Minnesota, we needed to find a hotel so we went on Priceline to find a place for the weekend. We booked a stay and during our drive to FW, I received a notice that my hotel had an unexpected cancellation. It was about 5:30 pm so we pulled over to research and reserve a different hotel. After looking at a variety of hotels (descriptions and pictures), we decided on the Magnuson Hotel - the price sounded like a deal, given the fact that all the traditional hotels were already full (due to the National Tournament). Through Priceline, we did the reservation (the booking required that I pay immediately, given the demand for hotels this weekend). It was fine though because the pictures of the hotel showed a very nice campus with updated appliances, Wi-Fi, Continental breakfast, and most importantly, clean and sanitary rooms (I’m a frequent traveler anyway, but during the last few summers, basketball requires us to travel at least 3 weekends per month, so the one constant that I require is a clean and safe place, even if I have to pay more than I would like to). We arrive at the hotel and as we are pulling in the lot, the first thing my son said was “Dad, I don’t think this is the place on the Priceline App”. I double check and it is. Upon entering the hotel, you are immediately smacked with the smell of cigarettes, great/slippery/and dusty floors. There is an old round wood table, with its 4th leg being “stabilized” by a Yellow Pages phone book (no f****** lie - Yellow Pages). The entry way or “lobby” was dimly lit and the front desk area was unoccupied with a sign that said press 0 on this phone (but it should have said “dial 0” because it was a rotary phone). We check in and begin to head to the carpeted stair well (the hotel does not have an elevator - just one set of stairs. I felt like I was in a horror movie). My only thoughts walking up those stairs were “I wonder what my son is thinking” and “there still might be a chance that our room actually matches the photos from the Priceline App”. My hopes of a decent room vanished as soon as we reached the top of the stair case, when I seen the hallway. It looked like we were in an old abandoned building (I grew up poor in a major city during the 80s and 90s, so I’m familiar with what the crack epidemic did to my neighborhood and community - this hotel hallway was as dilapidated as any I had ever witnessed - my son had never experienced anything like this though). At this point, I was 90% sure that we weren’t staying, but I had already paid a non-refundable payment for the weekend (about $300), so I had to at least look and see if the rooms were habitable.
