Het was vorig jaar (15/11/24 tem 19/11/24) dat we Leeu House bezochten. Samen met onze kids en hun partners hebben we er ongelooflijk genoten en prachtige dagen beleefd! Leeu House is zeer warm en gastvrij, kleinschalig charmant, op een toplocatie met mooie, rustige kamers maar bovenal een TOP-team die je in de watten legt! Roger, Honest, Gift en Marius; jullie waren fantastisch!! We hebben al heel wat hotels gedaan maar Leeu House blijft onze absolute favoriet!

Excellent in every way. The staff were very professional and the rooms were superb. The best barista in town ! We will definitely come back

Food Poisoning and Poor Service at Overpriced Leeu House Our stay at Leeu House was marred by a serious incident of food poisoning from the hotel's food. Given the first time I ate that day was at the hotel, I know their food caused the food poisoning. After I projectile vomited (I tried getting to the toilet but could not in time) my husband asked for assistance with soiled bedding. The staff informed us no cleaning would be available until the next day which surprised us. Management's dismissive handling of this health and safety issue was equally concerning. The Leeu House Suite, while spacious, had significant shortcomings. The bed was uncomfortably soft, clearly two mattresses pushed together, and the bathroom showed poor maintenance with visibly dirty shower grout. The suite's layout was impractical, lacking basic amenities like proper reading lights so my husband could read while I slept. For people into tea and coffee, the beverage service disappointed, with subpar coffee and tea. At a lower price point, these issues might be more forgivable. However, for the premium rates charged, the combination of food safety issues, poor crisis management, and general service deficiencies makes Leeu House impossible to recommend. As one who comes every 2 years to the Cape Town area, and currently staying at Delaire Graff in Stellenbosch, we came to Frranschoek to walk around. As we were walking, we saw the bronzes of Ghandi and Mandela in front of the hotel. We opened the gate to get a picture, but to also inquire about seeing the hotel as a possibility for a future stay. We were rudely approached and told it was for residents only, and we couldn’t come in. While Mr Singh doesn’t need my money, there is no way he will ever have a chance to get any of it in the future. When I was in business before retirement, we thought our sales people to treat any potential customer, no matter how they looked or dressed, as if they had a million dollars of cash in their pockets. Many unsuspected sales were made because the potential customer was treated like we were when we walked thru the gate by others.

We had heard so many good things about Leeu House and off the back of this, we booked it for the last few days of our honeymoon. Sadly, despite the staff being lovely and the location being perfect, we were left disappointed by our stay and felt that it was overpriced, the breakfast average and we had stayed in much nicer places which were half the price.

Charming small hotel with beautiful gardens, pool and amazing food & service. My husband & I stayed for 5 nights & explored the local area each day. Unfortunately, there is construction work next to the hotel which made it very noisy when trying to relax by the pool. We stayed in Room 8 which overlooked the whole of the construction site with workers arriving at 8am & leaving at 5pm. The hotel was fully booked so we were unable to move to another room. We loved the hotel and the local area but staying in Room 8 with the construction work totally spoilt what should have been a relaxing stay. We did speak to staff about the noise & view from our room who were apologetic but said it was out of their control.

Everything about this hotel is 5 star, only 13 rooms and adults only. Location, facilities accommodation and excellent staff. I cannot individually name members of staff as they are all exceptional, from house keeping, reception, restaurant, bar lounge/ pool staff , porters, security, chauffeurs and management. Turn up with just your clothes as everything else is catered for and supplied including Nivea sun cream of various factors. Would highly recommend a visit and look forward to my return visit.

Our stay at the hotel was absolutely wonderful! The staff were incredibly attentive and kind, making us feel welcome from the first moment. The garden and pool area were beautiful and peaceful, and we really appreciated the thoughtful poolside service with drinks, towels, and even sunscreen (thanks to Marius!!). The breakfast was outstanding — a perfect start to each day. One evening, we had some friends visiting, and we spent time on the terrace in front of our room. To our surprise, the service team, in person Honest (thanks again, we’ll never forget it!), provided us with drinks and snacks right there, just like having a private butler. That level of hospitality truly impressed us and our friends. In short, it was a perfect stay, and we will definitely come back!

This is a charming hotel with a small number of rooms which are very comfortable and spacious. There are tea and coffee facilities in the room and we had a fruit bowl on arrival. Breakfast was included which was always good. The staff were very charming and helpful. The hotel were able to recommend various nearby restaurants.

I had a fantastic week in Franschhoek and Leeu House was an ideal base from which to experience it. Located in a perfect spot on the main drag (Huguenot Road), the main building is a little set back from the street behind an immaculately kept garden featuring sculptures, and is discreetly supervised by a security team at all times. No need to worry though as Franschhoek felt very safe and I happily went by foot to any locations within a 15-minute walking distance, even late at night, with no problems at all. The hotel is tastefully decorated and comfortable, with a lovely pool area. The only small minor points are that the pool is not heated and is a little fresh at some times of day; and that the indoor lounge/bar area lacked ambience and was not well used, which seemed a pity to me. There is also currently some construction work going on next door which could occasionally be intrusive to the pool area, but this was intermittent. The breakfast is excellent, particularly the cooked options which are delicious and generous in size and scope, with customisation embraced readily by the team. I was fortunate enough to be staying in the Suite, which has its own terrace where I took my breakfast every day in the morning sun with delightful views. A special shout-out here to Gift, who served me most mornings with warmth, professionalism and humour. I should also mention his teammates Jason and Honest, who were also excellent and made my stay feel very intimate and high-end. The team in general was extremely obliging and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble. Typical of this was Marius, who was frequently checking that things were just right with everything from the log burner in my room to the situation of my sun lounger. Again, this kind of attention to detail made the experience feel very special; but understated and discreet. I would thoroughly recommend Leeu House for anyone looking to explore the wonderful town of Franschhoek and the surrounding area from the convenience of a central location. I hope to return one day.

Leeu House is perfect and ideally located in the heart of Franschhoek. The rooms are stunning and the garden and restaurant are delightful. The staff are unbelievably efficient, kind and helpful and are always happy to assist with anything you need and to give advice. And if you have the fortune to come across Honest you will want for nothing! He is utterly charming and will make sure your stay with them is everything you could wish for. Other than wine tastings which the reception staff will happily arrange for you, we would strongly recommend arranging a tour with Crisben who runs the Huguenot Museum (3 minutes walk away). He is full of the history and culture of the region and is a wonderful reconteur. We will be coming back to Franschhoek and will definitely stay at Leeu House.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Right on the Main Street of Franschhoek, everything is in easy walking distance with lots of good options for food and drink. The staff were extremely helpful and always polite and wanting to help. The art in the hotel is really cool and gives the place a real nice feel. Our room was very nice but very close to some construction taking place next to the hotel, so the noise at times wasn’t great. The hotel did offer to move us but to their sister hotel down the road, as they couldn’t offer us anything in The hotel, but as we had unpacked and were only there for two nights we declined.

The staff were so helpful and professional, the rooms were perfect and the breakfast superb. It was also great to use the spa at the nearby Leeu Estates hotel where the treatments were fantastic.
