巴提贊酒店(The Bartizan Galle Fort)

I have the best time staying in this hotel. Beautiful Place! Good Breakfast and Best Crew! Special thanks to Pathum, Sanjeever and Ranjit for making our stay feel special. This is a small boutique hotel in Galle with just the perfect balcony room. Yes, it is expensive, they have European roomrates. But they also have a great service, lovely staf, a different style luxe breakfast and complementairy tea and cake served at your own balcony in the afternoon. The room was beautifull and the cinnamon smell was also really nice. We stayed newyears eve at this hotel, and then we recommend earplugs for the noise of the celebrating crowd. But from the hotel it was a short walk up to the clocktower to see the fireworks. The owners did a great job redoing this place and turning it into a really charming hotel. Eventhough the downstairs rooms are small and without any view. When we visit the rain spoiled a little bit of the fun, I can imagen that the hotel even looks better when you also can use the little terras viewing the ocean.

Cute hotel that provides all the comforts you need! Spacious bathroom and the room were cleaned well! Breakfast was great. Provides no dinner but there are plenty of places to choose from just down from Pedlar Street. Great views of the Galle Rampart. Excellent staff!

Das Hotel ist auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen. Die Zimmer haben Schimmel, sind feucht und stinken so stark, dass man Kopfschmerzen bekommt. Nachdem es mehrere Stunden keinen Strom im Hotel gab wurden wir gebeten doch später ins Hotel zurückzukommen. Wir konnten also am ersten Tag unser Zimmer gar nicht nutzen, da es stockdunkel war. Nachdem wir wieder zurückgekommen waren haben wir erst bemerkt, dass das komplette Bett voller Flecken (Blut, Urin, andere Flüssigkeiten) war. Darauf angesprochen hat uns das Hotelpersonal ein „Upgrade“ zugesagt. Wir wechselten also mitten in der Nacht unser Zimmer und mussten dann feststellen, dass im neuen Zimmer die Decken ebenfalls völlig verdreckt und ekelig waren. Zudem fielen die Handtuchhalter im Badezimmer runter und der Fön funktionierte nicht. Also alles beim Alten, sowas „Upgrade“ zu nennen ist dreist. Am nächsten Tag sprachen wir den Hotelmanager auf diese Unannehmlichkeiten und Mängel an. Er entschuldigte sich zwar, hat jedoch auch auf mehrfache Nachfrage keine Entschädigung oder Teilerstattung der bezahlten 125$ für eine Nacht eingesehen. „Das wären keine gravierende Probleme“ und wir hätten ja ein Upgrade erhalten waren seine Worte. Seine Entschuldigung war, dass lange keine Gäste ins Hotel kamen. Wenn man jedoch so einen Service bietet, dann sollten auch in Zukunft keine Gäste kommen. Dieses Hotel auf jeden Fall meiden. Es hat überteuerte Preise und jedes 30$-Hotel ist besser.

Die Übernachtung im Südturm war einmalig schön. Einfach etwas Besonderes in einem alten Turm zu nächtigen. Auf der großen Terrasse war der Sunset zu bewundern. Das Frühstück war gigantisch und wurde uns sogar vor sieben zur Verfügung gestellt. Super Service.

We stayed in The Bartizan for 1 night and booked the room that has a balcony with partial sea view. The room was clean and nice. The view from the balcony was also beautiful. There is another balcony upstairs which is even better and we watched the sunset from there. The food was delicious and they arrange it in your balcony if you request. Last but not least, the staff was really nice. Specially Kalinga and Isuru who helped us through out the stay were kind and helpful.

I’ve never written a negative review but feel compelled to given the price we paid and the product we received. This property was the worst 65K we ever spent on a hotel in Sri Lanka. The property is at best, slightly above average. Basic room, basic bathroom, and overall basic. We have stayed at some of the best hotels and have always felt that the price we paid was money well spent and justified - exceptional service, food, etc. Other well reputed hotels, one we stayed at recently, and have booked again in December, at 60K FULL Board, offer incredible food, outstanding service, and are wonderful properties. The Bartizan at 65k, bed and breakfast was so basic, we could find no reason they could charge more than 30K at most. The breakfast order was taken all wrong, my poached eggs came with dried oregano sprinkled all over, some strange curdled version of “Hollandaise” and, the staff were just tuned out and barely responsive to correcting our order. Most of the staff spent their time on the doorstep watching the goings on outside. Our friends stayed at a lovely hotel in the fort, the same night we did, paid 30K, received a complimentary happy hour, had a pool on the property, a beautiful spacious room, and overall had a lovely experience. Spend your money elsewhere!

This seaside beauty can easily compete for the title of being one the finest among Galle's long list of chic boutique hotels. Situated in a heritage building along the old ramparts, across the sea, The Bartizan's charming Mediterranean-inspired courtyard and lovely fort-like terrace (with turrets and all!) sets it apart from the rest of the big hitters in the zone and radiates discreet luxury. The best rooms in the house are the sprawling super balcony room with a private verandah, and direct access to the rooftop terrace of the property. Evenings are best enjoyed on the terrace, or posing for a photo against the hotel's bartizan (turret) which is a replica of the ones in the Fort. LOCATION: Roughly located at the intersection of Pedlar Street and Rampart Street, this property is fine blend of being right in the heart of the fort as well as staying a step away DINE + DRINK: They don't have a bar per se, but the lovely rooftop terrace is a great place to hang out with your own drinks. Breakfast is served in tables set up sweetly beside a creeper-laced wall in the common cobbled alley space. ROOM: We stayed in Room 23, which was an ocean-view room, so this review is based on that; VIEW: The private balcony attached to the room overlooks the fort’s ramparts and the ocean beyond. ; SIZE: Nice sized room Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage, but the massive balcony attached to the room is the reward here!; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good spa quality Toiletries FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool on site SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. Special shout to PATHUM for hosting us like family, and the ever-smiling Watchmen who were so welcoming all the time! HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free medium-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. No Television in the room!

We stayed 2 nights in a lovely courtyard room and when we decided to stay another night we got a room upgrade to a sea view room. When I made a mistake with my initial booking site reservation the staff were very helpful in fixing it for me. All the staff from the reception managers to the gate security man were exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful. It's better to book direct rather than use a booking site. We had a great relaxing time without the hustle and bustle you can find at some places. Would strongly recommend it to others.
