阿胡灣(Ahu Bay)

Après un séjour de 8 nuits je mets 5 étoiles sans aucune hésitation. Hôtel à taille humaine, 13 chambres, nombreux services. Personnel très serviable, toujours très aimable et disposé à rendre service. Chambres fonctionnelles, décorées avec beaucoup de soin. Vue sur cocotiers, piscine, océan indien. Plage très bien aménagée, peu fréquentée, au pied de l’hôtel, chaises longues, lits à baldaquins, personnel pour surveiller, s’occuper des clients. Piscine, bar, salle de restaurant agréables. Lieu très calme et très reposant en général. L’hôtel est une sorte d’îlot reclus dans un quartier sans grand intérêt en lui-même. Le must : le restaurant sert une cuisine excellente, digne d’un restaurant étoilée, il y en a pour tous les goûts et à des prix raisonnables. Petit déjeuner excellent également, rien à voir avec la nourriture industrielle totalement insipide des grandes chaînes d’hôtel internationales.

Au bout de l’étroite ruelle qui s’échappe de la main road, loin du tumulte de la côte courtisée, ses plages sauvages, telles des solitaires, l’entourent de part et d’autre : Ahu bay est une perle précieuse posée dans un écrin. Le nombre limité de chambres et la conception architecturale offrent à ce lieu intime une douceur de vivre qui fait exception. On se croit seul au monde, dans n’importe quel coin de l’établissement, chacun trouvant sa place sans aucunement déranger l’autre. Le service est particulièrement attentionné sans jamais être pressant et le chef incontestablement talentueux. Convivialité, intimité, confort et luxe font ici bon ménage dans un très beau décor. A votre arrivée, ne ratez pas la montée des marches et observez quand le sol, sous les rais du soleil, soudain se confond avec la piscine que la mer semble prolonger. Comme un mirage…

Le spot est juste incroyable, littéralement les pieds dans le sable, face à la mer, dans un très bel environnement de palmiers, sans rien qui obstrue la ligne d'horizon. Il n'y a pas d'autres hôtels à proximité, ce qui confère au lieu un côté calme et intime, comme une grande villa privée. Nous avons passé 4 nuits dans cet hôtel. La gastronomie occupe une place importante grâce à l'excellent chef, avec un petit déjeuner à la carte (pas l'horrible buffet qu'on voit généralement dans les hôtels), et des menus raffinés au déjeuner et au dîner. Les chambres sont confortables, particulièrement la literie. Vraiment un bel endroit pour se reposer dans une ambiance chic, calme, chaleureuse et gourmande ! Pas mal de truc sympas à voir à proximité (le centre qui recueille les oeufs de tortue sur la plage pour les faire éclore et relâcher les tortues dans la mer, Lunuganga : la maison de Geoffrey Bawa, Galle, la lagune de Muduganga, etc...). On est après les visites contents de se prélasser face la mer ou au bord de la piscine avec son bouquin. Le service est bien attentionné, parfois un peu longuet, mais bon, on s'en accommode facilement face à ce panorama. On accède facilement aux 2 petites plages à proximité (celle de droite est exquise pour un bain de vague matinale avant d'aller prendre son petit-déjeuner). La ballade au temple bouddhiste sur la colline à côté, accueilli par les moines, est un grand moment.

Wir waren eine Woche in diesem schönen Boutiquehotel direkt am Meer. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Die ganze Anlage mit den tropischen Pflanzen ist ein Traum! Das Zimmer mit Terrasse erfüllt alle Anforderungen. Jederzeit stand das Personal zur Verfügung und verwöhnte uns. Das Essen war ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Wir haben wunderschöne Tage verbracht. Danke!

Our experience at the hotel was highly positive. We were genuinely impressed by the quality of the hotel, its decorations, its location, and the exceptional staff. The entire team, including the manager, waitstaff, chef, and the lifeguard on the beach, exhibited professionalism and attentiveness that made us feel like cherished, long-time guests. We really liked the cozy style of this small luxury hotel. The room furniture and decoration were luxurious, exuding a delightful blend of coziness and elegance. The room cleaning was perfect. The breakfast was delightful, the cuisine, the choice of plates, and the taste were perfect. We can say that this is an excellent place to admire an amazing ocean view from the room and to admire magnificent sunsets and ocean views from the restaurant and the pool. Moreover, the hotel’s bay offers a very nice and often calm ocean so we were able to swim even in the mid-season and enjoy the Indian Ocean. In conclusion, this private, peaceful, and luxurious place was a very good choice for a part of our vacation, and we have very warm memories of this place. There are a few areas in which the hotel could make improvements. While the beach and bay are beautiful, they could benefit from more thorough cleaning to remove small stones using a sieve. Another significant problem was the local annoying vendor placed right in the middle of the hotel with a large advertising board, always trying to talk and propose services. This is really disappointing when someone walks in front of you with local friends, constantly looking at you and trying to speak with you when you just want to relax on the beach (we know that the beach is public in Sri Lanka, but we didn't have this issue in another hotel in Sri Lanka). During our stay, there were many renovation works, and it was the same with all the workers. They constantly walked and looked at us while we were on the beach, trying to relax and enjoy the sun. Nevertheless, despite all these points, we really had an enjoyable stay in this hotel.
