阿洪加勒叢林海灘酒店(Jungle Beach Ahungalla)

Ende Februar hatten wir (4 Personen) die Gelegenheit, zwei Wochen lang die Annehmlichkeiten des Camps zu genießen. Das Camp verfügt über vier Bungalows mit eigener Dusche und Toilette, sehr sauber und zweckmäßig eingerichtet inmitten des Dschungels. Bis zum kilometerlangen weißen Sandstrand sind es nur wenige Meter. Das Camp wird von Barbara geleitet, die seit 14 Jahren in der örtlichen Szene überaus gut vernetzt ist und jederzeit für die Planung von Ausflügen angesprochen werden kann. Das Essen ist großartig! Das Frühstück beginnt jeden Morgen mit einem täglich wechselndem Fruchtsmoothie, gefolgt von einer Platte mit exotischen Früchten. Danach hat man die Wahl zwischen einem europäischen oder landestypischen Frühstück. Die Strandbar hält den ganzen Tag über eine reichhaltige Auswahl gekühlter Getränke bereit. Die Küche ist hervorragend und zieht selbst Gäste des in etwa 1 km Entfernung gelegenen RIU-Hotels zum Essen an. Die Preise für Speisen und Getränke sind sehr zivil. Zudem kann das Essen an Tischen direkt am Strand eingenommen werden; bei prächtigem Sonnenuntergang ein besonderes Erlebnis. Ausflüge sind fußläufig in eine Rettungsstation für Schildkröten möglich. Außerdem kann man mit einem von Barbara organisierten Fahrdienst Ausflüge in die größeren Städte Ahungalla und Galle, oder besonders erlebnisreich, in den Udawalawe Nationalpark unternehmen und wilde Elefanten beobachten. Wir waren bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal im Jungle Beach Ahungalla.

Wir - 2 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder im Alter von 10 und 13 Jahren - hatten eine traumhafte Zeit im Jungle Beach. Die Unterkunft liegt in absoluter Strandnähe, schon die Bungalows liegen auf traumhaftem hellen Sand. Die Bilder werden der Realität absolut gerecht. Während unseres Aufenthaltes war der Strand sehr wenig besucht und absolut sauber. Schutz vor der Sonne bieten die Mangroven, die sich direkt in Strand- und Barnähe befinden. Das Essen sowie die Getränke und frischen Säfte waren total lecker, das Personal freundlich und Barbara, die deutsche Gastgeberin, sehr entspannt und immer ansprechbar. Wir waren insgesamt 6 Nächte da, die ersten 3 Nächte im Deluxe-Bungalow, die weiteren Nächte im Standard-Bungalow. Beide Unterkunftstypen sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Zu viert war es im Deluxe-Bungalow etwas großzügiger, zu zweit reicht der Standard-Bungalow völlig aus. Es besteht ganztägig die Möglichkeit zu Massagen. Wir haben uns bei beiden Masseuren behandeln lassen. Die Massagen waren professionell und sehr wohltuend und im Vergleich zu Deutschland deutlich preisgünstiger. Unsere Kinder haben sich riesig über die 3 (Wach-)Hunde gefreut, alle geimpft und empfänglich für eine Streicheleinheit :-)

It’s hard to list what we liked as we enjoyed the place very much. So in short -location next to the great beach hidden in a forest -small hotel, only 4 bungalows -beds very comfortable -very nice restaurant with possibilities to eat on the beach -all meals just great, menu changes every day You can keep on listing, though I would say the biggest value of this place is it’s owner Barbara who keeps close eye on everything in the hotel, keeping all in order and is very helpful in assisting and negotiating decent prices for transportation, tours and even tuk tuks… knowledge of local market can’t be overrated in this area… Some can say lack of swimming pool, but there’s an ocean 20m away… No walking pavements but the sand is just great, no shoes or flip-flops required.

Un séjour dépaysant, des chalets confortables au bord de l’océan. Particulièrement original et pittoresque loin des grands Resorts. On se sent entre amis avec un accueil irréprochable. Et en plus on y mange particulièrement bien. Entre séance de Yoga, partie de beach volley et massage, il y a de la place pour une balade le long de la mer avant de boire un verre devant des couchers de soleil incroyables. On vit en osmose avec la nature et quel plaisir d’être bercé la nuit par le bruit des vagues… et oui on est vraiment au bord de la mer. Barbara, Lars et toute l’équipe répondent à vos besoins mais il ne faut pas hésiter à faire la demande. Nous y reviendrons !

We spent 3 days at Jungle Beach and we had a very relaxing time. There are so many great things about this accommodation. Barbara was both quick and friendly in replying to our emails before arriving. She organised our airport transport for us and a driver to get us to our next location which was much appreciated. The location of Jungle Beach is idyllic on an unspoilt and pretty beach in a a lush and tropical setting. The restaurant and bar are right on the beach front and the food was consistently good. The prawn and mango curry and the seafood platter were exceptional. The staff were all fantastic and an absolute asset to the place, they were really friendly and helpful at all times. It was exactly what we were looking for, a peaceful and chilled out start to our trip. The only negatives were that the room was way too dark and lacked privacy. Check out could have been more efficient (we were left waiting half an hour) and we would have appreciated an itemised bill. We were just shown a single figure in rupees on a piece of paper. However as we do not doubt that Barbara and her team are honest, it was not really a big problem for us. Despite the few things we mentioned that could have been improved on, overall we had a really lovely time and would certainly recommend a stay at Jungle Beach.

The place is amazing and beautiful but service they provide worse. We went to the sea and come back to the hotel for a shower but we had to wait for more than 3 hours because there was a problem with their pressure pump. We called more than 10 times they didn't take so much about that. But the food is good some staff members are friendly and others not. They seem not happy about our stay😁

The hostel is infront of the beach. We managed to stay three nights at this beautiful small paradise in my vacation. The nature was very quite and peaceful. The environment around the bungalow was absolutely amazing. Had a wonderful beach experience. Definitely will comeback before going home.

This place is very special. In those cute Bungalows it feels like being in a hotel, but you are that close to the nature that you can hear the sea and the birds. The staff is very friedly and helpful and make everything possible. Even though you would like to eat right at the beach they organize a candle light dinner. During the day there is lots of opportunities. Besides watersports and beachvolleyball you can join Yoga classes in the morning or relax during a massage. I think the local Sri Lankan food is the most various and healthy one I have had so far. Different spices and fresh fruits and vegetables make your meals even various if you are vegan. If you still want to stick to your European food, you can order that as well. From here you can do many trips: you either visit a Nationalpark, the big city Colombo or you go on a magical trip with Summer Explorers. Get ready for a great adventure!
