大都會酒店(Hotel Metropole Geneve)

Our stay at the Hotel Metropole was stellar. As stated in many other reviews, the location is key. Situated along the lake and with in walking distance of much of the major tourist spots and luxury shopping Geneva has to offer, you couldn't ask for better. Upon arrival, the hotel staff was pleasant and engaging. Our room was on the front of the hotel so we woke each morning with a view of Lake Geneva. Our room was gorgeous with a tasteful contemporary design. The bathroom was more than serviceable and I was addicted to the plush bathrobes. The morning buffet was fairly expansive and we always engaged in conversation with the staff who again were pleasant. The only drawback was the odd odor you encounter on the ground level entry. Not sure of the source, but it was not a game changer. I look forward to staying again!

De retour dans cet unique palace de la rive gauche de Genève, nous y avons retrouvé l’accueil chaleureux et la gentillesse du personnel. Malgré les travaux de rénovation, fort bien organisés pour ne pas gêner les hôtes, tout était accessible, les chambres confortables et le petit déjeuner toujours aussi parfait, tant au buffet qu’en chambre. Sa situation exceptionnelle a quelques mètres de la « fashion street » genevoise et son « rooftop bar » unique avec vue à 360 degrés entre Lac et Salève rendent le Métropole incontournable, nous reviendrons une fois de plus. Les petits défauts constatés ont été immédiatement corrigés par des cadres attentifs et efficaces.

Bien que l'établissement soit une belle adresse, nous avons été déçus par les équipements de la salle de sport. Un seul tapis qui n'était pas fonctionnel et le reste des appareils quelque peu sommaire. Dans notre chambre, à l'emplacement de la cafetière, à l'arrière tout était poussiéreux. D'un "palace" on s'attend à l'excellence.. (Un peu déçu du service proposer au cinquième étage, nous sommes montés avec madame pour découvrir ce bar qui propose une vue panoramique sublime. Malheureusement; après 10 minutes d'attente, nous décidons de partir, personne n'est venu pour notre commande, sachant que le personnel présent nous regarder et surtout ils était entrain de DISCUTER BOIRE [alcool !!!!! ] ET MANGER tout en JONGLANT avec les bouteilles entre eux devant les clients ! trois jeunes un dimanche ! je trouve ca un peu désolant pour un palace après 10 minute d'attente nous somme partis pour manger en chambre! passage en Février

Se faire confirmer par le rooftop par mail une réservation de 14 personnes pour dans 3 semaines puis recevoir un mail d’annulation sans appel téléphonique le lendemain… bel gestion, bravo au F&b manager ! Vraiment dommage mais nous sommes à Genève…

One of the best hotels to stay in Geneva! Even if the hotel is now under renovation no inconvenience whatsoever bothered us. The stuff is very friendly and helpful! Excellent housekeeping. The intercontinental breakfast is a bit poor comparing with the price you pay for the rooms. You can have from the a-la cart menu with extra charge.

Instalaciones con graves fallas de mantenimiento, habitaciones incomodas y un servicio deficiente hacen que, a pesar de su buena ubicación, esta no sea una alternativa valida a considerar en Ginebra. Malo el desayuno, casi peor que las habitaciones.

Le décor de l'hôtel 1906 retour vers un passé dans lequel on savait très bien vivre dans le calme, cosy. Très belle chambre moderne, une délicate attention pour le service de notre Whippet. Excellent accueil. Très belle vue sur le lac et le jet d'eau.

My stay in this hotel turned out to be one of the most disappointing I have been unfortunate enough to experience. On previous trips to Geneva, I had seen this hotel from the outside and been impressed by its majestic presence. The images on the web site seem to confirm this view. The entrance to the hotel, the staircases, the corridor leading to the rooms are all decorated in an elegant style, promising comfort and luxury. However, this impression is sadly shattered on entering the bedroom. Whereas the style of the hotel’s public areas is almost stately, our bedroom seems to have been inspired by Ikea’s Formica era: flat, rectangular furniture. Because the room is so small and the layout of the furniture so badly planned that the designer has found no room to fit in a chest-of-drawers, so that is almost impossible for a couple to unpack all of their items. In addition, how can the hotel justify describing rooms as suitable for two guests and then only providing a single easy chair? This disappointment is reinforced by the bathroom. Once again, no drawers are provided for storing items but, and which is much more serious, the bathroom is so compact that there is no room for a standalone shower. If you want to use the shower, you will have to clamber over the side of the bath and snuggle up to the taps in order to control the equipment. This issue with the shower in the bath highlights another major problem with this hotel: the complete lack of provision for people with any form of disability. Every one of the majestic entrances to the hotel is on a lower level than the hotel’s interior. The only way of getting into the hotel that does not require climbing a number of steps is to go into the hotel’s restaurant and find a member of staff who can accompany you up in the service lift. I did not ask what provisions are available if the restaurant is very busy or when it is closed. In short, both the external aspect and the five stars attributed to this hotel set expectations that are not satisfied in reality. On the plus side, however, the staff are charming and very helpful but that does not make up for seriously substandard rooms.

This was a pleasant surprise since we always thought that all the top hotels in Geneva were on the other side of the river. The Metropole is well renovated and we had a very friendly welcome - and excellent service throughout. The junior suite lakeside was modern and great. The only downside was the air conditioning which we had to turn off during the night since it was too noisy which we told the hotel at checkout. Nice rooftop bar with a great view over Geneva and the lake. We will come again.
