I stayed at St. Andrews Hotel and Spa for two nights, and unfortunately my experience was not what I expected. The first room I was checked into was filthy, stained sheets, dusty surfaces, and even sugar grains left on the coffee table from the previous guest. I had to request to speak with the housekeeping manager before being moved to another room. The general guest experience also felt like an afterthought. The receptionist was not welcoming and barely smiled, which set the tone for my stay. The pillows were uncomfortable, and I found it frustrating that basic items like a dental kit are not provided in the room but kept at reception, meaning you have to specifically ask for them. Another disappointing discovery was that the “spa” isn’t actually owned or managed by the hotel. You have to book with them separately, which makes the experience feel disconnected and less convenient than expected. On the positive side, I really appreciated the restaurant staff, particularly Thato, who was a pleasure to interact with. She was attentive, warm, and truly understood what good hospitality looks like. Her service was the highlight of my stay. Overall, the hotel has potential but needs to seriously improve its housekeeping standards, staff training, and approach to guest comfort if it hopes to live up to the “spa and hotel” standard it advertises.

We stayed over at St Andrews Hotel for an evening, with friends. We would like to thank Dean and his staff for a very pleasant stay. Rooms were spacious, neat and tidy. Beautiful and quiet surroundings. Meals were top notch. We will definitely be back for another visit.

We had booked a few rooms for a family event. Our experience was mixed at best even considering the relatively reasonable rates. Staff were friendly and helpful and our room was a great size. But it ended there. There is a lack of maintenance for sure - broken slats in the blind, holes in the carpet. The room keys are crazy; essentially almost anything you do to them scrambles them. Don’t put them near your phone, in your wallet, near car keys. Even then they stop working half the time which means a walk to reception to get them reset. And twice when we did this the machine to programme keys wasn’t working so we had to wait. Just crazy. Do not stay in crystal. Apart from the spotlight shining a beam of light through the broken blinds (we had to doctor towels to block the light) the main building fan comes on with a major noise, both day and night. WiFi was sporadic at best in our rooms and breakfast was disappointing - it’s not hard to get a coffee machine for decent coffee, or find decent pastries and nice bread. Also have some clear utensils for serving good. Some people may not want the same utensils for serving slices of ham and cheese and fruit (!!). We definitely won’t be back!

From our arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and truly made us feel welcome. The room and food was excellent, and it has a very relaxing vibe overall. The location is excellent, as you can easily forget that you are in the middle of a city. We will definitely make us of them again.

不要被牆上的「繪畫」所迷惑,即使藝術家也會在上面簽名,哈哈。窗簾很髒,淋浴間堵塞。房間雖然很大。蒼蠅是吃飯的地方,食物很差而且價格過高。至少工作人員很棒,很友善。他們應該嘗試為每個人預訂湖景房,也許這樣你就能得到一些積極的東西。誰做的管道,因為大多數事情都是錯的。前幾個晚上,Prego Roll 讓我的胃整晚都在收縮。

We had a one night sleep. Very nice, big rooms. Lot af hot water in the tub. Great bed, silent night. Breakfast were delisius. Very good service!

Excellent location as it is central and takes only a few minutes's drive to every corner of Joburg. Very large and comfortable rooms, only carperts that requires some attention. Nice resturant and bar. Excellent service staff. Excellent experience overall.

We were placed in a room that was being reburbished and it was certainly not up to standard. This might just have been a booking oversight because once we brought it to the staffs attention they were very accommodating and moved us to a much nicer room.

We were a group of 25 that was booked for accommodation. Arrived at 17:00 after an early flight and long day, upon being told our rooms aren’t ready as it needs to be sanitised. (Check in was at 14:00) We kept asking how long still. They kept postponing. We got our room keys at 21:00. Only to be disgusted by the standards of these rooms. The doors don’t lock. Bedding torn. Filthy carpets and curtains. No wi-fi. TV’s and aircons not working. This was for the majority of the groups rooms. Im curious how bad it must have been to have 25 rooms sanitised while a group of this size is waiting. It took them 10 hours to get the rooms ready. All of us are frequent travellers and have never experienced anything like this. We tried to find different accommodation but unfortunately everything was booked. The restaurant was horrible. Food not up to standard. Do not go to this hotel. It is NOT a 4-star. Not by a long shot. You will be very disappointed

4 Star rating “***”: Let me state upfront for the record, this is the worst accommodation in JHB that I have ever stayed in! Forget 4 star, lucky to be rated as 2 star. Whoever issued the 4 star ratings was either paid off or owns a share in the establishment. Arrived to a receptionist that could barely greet you. Should have known this was a bad start. No offer to assist with luggage despite no lift facilities. Room was basic but like the hotel, in a desperate need for a makeover and renovation. Carpets are dirty, instant coffee sachets and a bar fridge that had frozen over clearly indicating lack of cleaning and attention. No bath or hand towels in the room - but wait - the phones don’t work so you have to make your way back down the stairs to to unfriendly staff. Housekeeping took 15 minutes to bring the towels. Wait there’s more: no hot water. Back down to Ms Morbid to ask for the basics. Wait 30 minutes. Hold on the horror story is just warming up. Shower drain is blocked and just fills up with water. Back downstairs to this time discuss with the manager who is clearly not concerned with the feedback and arranges in house plumbers (a sign that this is a common situation). Plumbers do their thing and the entire room is filled with the stench of foul and insipid water for the rest of the evening. Asked the manager for the early cancellation policy details but he had no idea what this entailed. My 3 night stay ended up being a single night which I would have changed if it wasn’t after hours. Ended up staying at friends for the remainder of my trip and wasn’t even going to try my luck for breakfast after reading the other reviews on the online platforms. Please I urge you to reconsider this venue for your trips! Don’t waste your time and money. The hotel doesn’t care for their guests. The facilities are disgusting. The choice is yours !!
