1 van de beste B&B die ik bezocht, gelegen in het centrum over het Gravensteen! Het ontvangst was super. De kamer (Felix) had een apart toilet, badkamer, slaapkamer en een zithoek, allen afsluitbaar met een deur. Koffie, thee, snacks stonden klaar en werden ook aangevuld. Kamerjassen, warmwaterkruik, meer dan voldoende toiletproducten. Kortom te veel om op te noemen. Oh ja, het ontbijt was excellent! Dit blijft ons adresje tijdens een bezoek aan Gent. Dank je wel, Kay en Christian!

This is the most wonderful, luxurious place to stay. We've been to Europe more than 25 times, and Christian and Kay really know how to run a guest house. The suites are large and beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need while staying in Ghent. Plenty of closet space, refrigerator space and living space combine to make you feel as if you're in your own apartment! Breakfast is delicious, with a little surprise each morning to start your day. The location is perfect, with a great view of the castle. And, of course, the kind and helpful owners ensure you enjoy all that Ghent has to offer.

We had an amazing 3 night stay at De Waterzooi in mid May, and we honestly wish we had booked longer! From the moment we arrived, our hosts, Kay and Christian, made us feel incredibly welcome. Their warmth and kindness elevated our visit into something truly special. The suite we stayed in (The Felix) was immaculate. It was located on the 2nd floor (the 3rd floor in US terms) and was beautifully furnished. The living area is in a separate room from the bedroom, which was very nice. And speaking of the bedroom, the bed itself is one of those motion beds where you can adjust the height and position, and the linens were definitely high end! Needless to say, we slept incredibly well. It had a very large balcony that overlooked the courtyard, with the three towers visible in the background just over the adjacent roofs. Every detail felt carefully considered, creating a space that was both sophisticated and comfortable. The suite was equipped with literally everything we could possibly need. We even realized we needed a pair of scissors at one point, and lo and behold, there we found a pair in the suite! The location is unbeatable with awesome views, as the property is directly in front of the castle. It does not get much better than that! What stood out most, however, were our hosts. At check in, rather than the usual rigmarole, we joined another couple who were just arriving from England and enjoyed coffee, tea and some treats together while Kay shared the history of the area and the building. She also gave us helpful hints for getting around town, while Christian brought our luggage up to our suite. Their recommendations and personal touches made our visit unforgettable. They have created a place that feels both sophisticated and welcoming, and it shows in every aspect of the experience. Quite simply, everything was perfect. If you’re visiting Ghent, I can not imagine a better place to stay. We would return in an instant and highly recommend De Waterzooi to anyone looking for a memorable and flawless experience.

You really couldn't ask for a better location, rooms or hosts. We stayed as a family in all 3 of the suites. They were lovely, clean with all the amenities you could need. The rooms face on to the castle and square (which can be a little noise) however, where you sleep it is very quiet. Kay & Christian, are perfect hosts, they are warm and welcoming and only to willing to offer tips, good places to eat etc.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to come across this place and ended up booking it for two nights. We had not visited Ghent before, but we had an absolutely wonderful experience. Not only did the place fully live up to our expectations, we also received an incredibly hospitable, personal, and warm welcome from the hosts, Kay and Christian. We chose to use their private parking for our car, which turned out to be a very good idea, as it is relatively close to the property—about 200 meters away. Christian came to meet us and even offered to carry some of our luggage. Upon arrival, Kay was ready with a cup of hot tea and coffee while she introduced us to the place. They referred to the room as “the suite,” and it was located on the first floor with a direct view of the old castle. It consisted of a spacious living room with a sideboard, a refrigerator, bar stools, a coffee machine, and an electric kettle. The bedroom was connected to the living room and separated by a door, which meant it was incredibly quiet in the evening and at night, despite the restaurants and the many people in the square in front of the house. From the bedroom there was direct access to the sink area and bathtub, as well as a private rooftop terrace with two sun loungers and a view over the city’s rooftops. There was excellent storage space and built‑in music in all rooms. The design was very stylish and complete—simply stunning, with a real feeling of being at home. We were only the fourth Danish couple to stay here since they opened their B&B. Let this therefore be an encouragement to any other Danes considering a stop in Ghent—this is a place you will not regret. We certainly hope to return and see Kay, Christian, and the beautiful city of Ghent again.

Kay & Christian went above and beyond as hosts, very friendly and on site which was handy for me especially on checkout day. The decor was fabulous, keeping traditional character with modern luxuries & a cosy, relaxing colour palette throughout. I especially appreciated the chill out music channel playing whilst taking a hot bath after a days sightseeing. The huge balcony was a bonus. Location couldn't be better. It made my stay.

Awesome spot, awesome amenities, friendly owners. Stayed in the Felix suite. The little details make the difference...a really good hairdryer, an actual makeup mirror, a comfortable sitting area, a balcony to sit outside at the back and it is super quiet. Although it's in a busy area, cannot hear anything at night (area closes down around 9pm). We would stay here again. Highly recommend it!

This is a completely charming boutique hotel. We were in the room at the very top with views over the castle at the front, and over the medieval rooftops at the back. I sat on the balcony with a glass of wine and felt I was starring in my very own movie. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast sensational. This really is a very special, personal, unusual place to stay.
