The staff make this hotel somewhere you will want to return to. Very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is clean, modern and comfortable. We will definitely be returning. Special mention to the reception lady who checked us in and the tall gentleman who served our breakfast, who both went above and beyond.

Lovely hotel, small and very friendly staff who were very welcoming. Spa was small but clean. Only issue being that there was no way of stopping the water from splashing the floor in the body jet shower. A minor point. Room was lovely with a balcony and a view of the river. If you have difficulty sleeping then the sound of the water flowing by may help. We had a very sound sleep! As a big breakfast fan, portion size wasn’t to my liking and when I asked for fruit and yoghurt, only the fruit bowl came. Cumbrian breakfast was one of everything although the quality was very high and the poached eggs were done to perfection. The staff booking us in and checking us out were very friendly and made us feel thoroughly welcomed. We will be going back and probably very soon!

Good location, nice dining room and gardens. Our room was dreadful, stained carpets, mould on the bathroom ceiling and tiles, scuffed and unfinished paintwork, generally dank and as my wife is asthmatic it was not ideal. No safe no fridge and two complimentary biscuits the size of a two pence coin all for £185 a night. Noisy plumbing which rattled on for hours and if you fancied a tipple in your room a charge of £90 would apply .The double bed was two singles pushed together ,not very comfortable at all .Did not use the spa because we had to share with another 3 rooms, not as advertised.

Lovely Hotel, nice room but a little tired considering it was one of their luxury suites, nothing major but just needed a little maintenance, garden patio area was really nice, especially as it joined my parents room and we were able to have tea outside. Watch out for the room corkage fees!

I didn’t get the room I had booked and was given what I was told was an upgrade to a suite, but was a room that I specifically didn’t want to stay in because it was a converted loft with low ceilings. Having said that I must say that the staff were great and did everything possible and beyond to accommodate us. The most disappointing aspect of the stay was however the food in the restaurant, especially during dinner. I didn’t realise how good a cook I was until I ate at the restaurant and had to return one of the dishes back. The food was tasteless and sometimes inedible.

We were upgraded on check in. Room was spacious and comfortable. Bed was two single mattresses together but mattresses had hard edges which made bed a bit uncomfortable- a topper could avoid that. We did however generally sleep well. Breakfast was excellent . Spa faculty great to unwind after a day on fells

Fantastic Valentines/Birthday night away. Butter Crag room had an amazing view of the river and surrounding fells. Staff were splendid with any questions.

The Hotel facilities was very nice and beutiful. Restaurant outstanding. However the room was very far from good. We had a temparature of 25C and there was no AC. No AC was not informed when booking the reservation. No minibar, front desk told me I want cold drinks I had to buy at the bar. Several parts of the room have very low ceiling that you keep hiting your had. Please keep in mind I am only 1,58.

We chose this hotel based on location and also the rating it was given and bearing in mind it was our honey moon I have to say we left very dissapointed. At first it appears that the service is very good, lots of "have a nice day" etc or as I like to call it the icing on the cake! Only problem being that they haven't got the cake right yet... Every morning at breakfast something would be missed, they would bring you tea and coffee however you had to ask for milk or they would bring you toast but then have to ask for some butter. On my second breakfast of a cumberland grill I had no black pudding on my plate but other customers did. We had room 11 at the top of the stairs, the cleaners love to put all the dirty linen outside your door so you nearly trip on it on exiting your room. Very little thought to the impact on your guests. I could go on and all of the above is very disappointing but what really took the biscuit was finding a pair of someones extra large briefs left in the wardrobe which I find absolutely disgusting. I get people leave things by mistake but then is it not the staffs job to check and clean the rooms properly for the next customer?? We brought all of the above to the attention of the staff on reception with little comment or desire to apologise. This is not a cheap hotel so feel very disappointed that my pretty simple expectations where not met. Clean and Good Service
