SO Darn Ridiculous ...這個新文化你做自己退房....入住....環你的雜貨...修理你的手機和加熱器在酒店房間....如此傷心的缺乏客服技能和如何說話的對話方式。
I've stayed here countless times over many years. It's been my go-to place in Grand Rapids. Time for a change. It's just run down. The rooms are beat up: faded furniture, wood everywhere in the room is scratched and dented, the love seat in each room is worn and tired, the lights all seem dim and all give off a jaundiced, yellow-ish hue. As for cleanliness, the sheets in my bed were very rumpled (looking more like they'd been slept in before rather than freshly cleaned) and the fitted sheet was barely attached to the mattress. In the bathroom, my toilet seat had a chip in it (?) exposing some MDF under the white surface, and the shower had lots of splotches of some pink/orange growth, plus other areas with concerning little spots of black. Overhead, a fan vent in the bathroom ceiling had massive clumps of dust hanging out of it. Gross. This hotel is getting old. The rooms feel run down. It's overdue for a major overhaul. Between the bed and the shower and the clumps of dust, my room didn't feel sufficiently clean. It all needs major work. The staff are nice. The restaurant is pretty good. But I'm done with the Courtyard. The rooms have been in a slow decline for some time, and it's past the point where I want to come back.
We decided to stay at this hotel for several nights since it was where the wedding reception we were attending was located. My husband and I were very disappointed, as were many of the other guests who were staying here for the same reason. We sacrificed the convenience of the wedding venue for a very poor hotel experience. I would like to mention that this was not due to the staff, whom we had no issues with. As mentioned in several other reviews, the room layouts at this 'boutique' hotel were varied and unfortunately did not take into account the comfort of the guests. Our specific room offered minimal space in the bedroom area, with lots of space devoted to a long hallway as well as an open bathroom area. The bathroom area was not separated from the bed area by a door, and our specific room housed an unused soaking tub and a two glass-sided stall shower. The fastest access to the toilet from the bedroom area required walking through the shower. Also, for a guest who chose to shower earlier than a sleeping partner, the light and noise from the shower would be very intrusive. Fortunately, the toilet area had a door for privacy. Except for the bathroom area which had ceramic tile, the rest of the living space was covered with vinyl tiles that were unsuccessfully supposed to simulate cork. This vinyl provided a very institutional, cold, and unappealing look, similar to a college dorm room. Since so much space was unnecessarily devoted to the long hall and bathroom space, the bedroom area was very cramped. There was no place to sit except for on the bed, or in a very uncomfortable, cheap plastic non-adjustable desk chair near a narrow desk. There were no bedside tables, but next to only one side of the bed was a 'cube' without storage. It was covered with a burlap-like material which we thought was a questionable choice for a room with multiple occupants. The other side of the bed had no such 'table', so if a guest required perhaps a water glass or a CPAP machine on their side, it needed to be placed on the floor. Room temperature could only be adjusted by the front desk, not by the thermostat located in the room. We didn't realize this until after a cool first night's stay when we reported that we thought our room's thermostat was broken. We were informed that room temperature adjustment was only by the front staff. No information regarding this was posted in the room. Regarding housekeeping, a small note on the inside of our door stated that there would be no housekeeping service provided, unless upon request. The closet was in the long hallway. It consisted of a small cabinet with two small desk-sized drawers that were supposed to accommodate all our belongings. In addition, only four hangers were initially provided, but this was remedied when we requested more. There was no safe in the room, which is usually standard in most hotels these days. The hotel is made up of two buildings connected by a hallway in the lobby. A
LLittlePungWe had a reservation booked over 2 weeks in advance, and when we came in she said she couldn't check us in because we aren't 21 (Mind you we are both 19 years old, and checked both the official website and other sites to clarify before booking) It was not until we called a family member and called her back that she called her manager, seemed to have a heated discussion, and said yes she could check us in. She went on about how she had messed up in the past with this, and that’s a majority of why she didn’t let us in even with my ID and Credit card. The entire time of this situation we were glared at, aggressively talked to, and felt very judged/unwelcome. We got settled and realized the room wasn’t in top shape, (but obviously we paid for cheap which is not a big deal) But the door to the connecting room was broken (we only got one room, so if they unlocked it on their side they would've had full access to our room). We decided to go and check out what time the free breakfast would be (nowhere listed in the room itself) and got a glare and huff the minute we came out in Pajamas (both full pajamas/long/pants etc), and stared at by the same receptionist. Thankfully she was the only rude one, everyone else was kind, but that made the experience awful. Not to mention we had 2 nights reserved, we came back for our second night and our key cards didn’t work whatsoever. We ended up hiking to the front to get them fixed, which ended up fine due to the man at the counter being very nice. Lastly they specifically (and the first receptionist who was rude emphasized this to us) there was no smoking (we both don’t smoke and are allergic). Yet on our last day there we smelled a heavy **** smell and nic smoke. We left shortly after since it was checkout time anyways.
MMaps47416721072This hotel was not very clean and had a foul musty stink to it throughout! The carpet was scuzzy. And the ”continental breakfast” was not provided in a very sanitary manner. The bread, donuts and muffins were not individually wrapped, and some folks were just using their fingers to pick up their item(s). I also had an issue with my extended stay, which was arranged before my arrival and check in. At check-in I was told everything was good for 2 nights, rather than the initial 1 night . . . and at the same rate. The next morning around 11:30a I got a call on my mobile asking when I was going to check out, since check-out was 11a and my stuff was still in the room. It was a nightmare to deal with this situation, since I was more than an hour away. Further I was told the room rate for the extra day would be more than my initial rate. After messing around with it for about 20 minutes, I was assured it was fine. (She had to speak with the clerk from the day before.) The whole experience was a nightmare . . . I will probably avoid this location in the future.
