Great location.

I always spend a lot of time researching where to stay and know the lakes pretty well. We had just cycled the coast to coast and wanted to relax. This place seemed to have great reviews and was described as boutique and luxury which the price reflected . It is an ok place to stay and has some nice features like being able to walk to lake and seeing the badgers , but it is NOT in any way luxury or boutique - it’s more like a nice youth hostel , bit shabby and slight smell of dogs . There was no lake view from our room despite it stating there would be , it’s just off the main road so good for grasmere but I wouldn’t say it was right by the lake or peaceful . We had a couple staying in the room next door who left their dogs to bark continuously for 4 hours while we were trying to have a peaceful evening. The owner did nt seem to care much. Also someone turned up to strim the hedges for 2 hours at 8am. I’m not sure how it has got such good reviews - I would say it’s probably good if you have dogs but honestly don’t be misled if you don’t. I really wouldn’t waste my money again .

What a wonderful find! We needed to find accommodation at short notice, and Richard couldn't have been more helpful With 2 dogs, and a very noisy campsite we needed to leave, we stayed in the garden suite of this charming hotel. With a private entrance and private access to Grasmere water, it couldn't have been better. It was sparklingly clean and meet our needs perfectly. Even the family of badgers came out to meet us. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
