My husband and I were needing a simple and affordable place to stay for the evening. After picking one nearby hotel but seeing the less than positive reviews there, we decided on Motel 6.
The area was convenient and check in was quick and easy with our Travelocity reservation. However, the entire building smelled of *********. Unfortunately, that is too common in my recent experiences. When we got to our room, it was quite stuffy. We are in the middle of a heatwave so we chalked it up to that and the AC unit must be struggling like every other unit in SE Texas at this time. We were to be out for the night, so we assumed once the sun went down, the AC would be able to catch up. This did not happen. Although it wasn't horribly uncomfortable, it was not cooling at it should.
As I went to get ready for the evening, I found there was only one washcloth provided in the room. Not a huge deal, we decided when we came back to the motel after our evening out, we would just pick up a couple more from the front desk. Later that night when we returned, the young man barely looked up at us as we entered the lobby. He removed his earbuds when I approached the counter, but never said a word. I asked for a couple of extra washcloths and he returned with 3 hand towels. Oh well, we figured we will make this work. Through the whole interaction, he never once spoke a word.
The room was decently clean and decorated. The bed was hard and left more to be desired.
