I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied by the tower house hotel 1066 . It was not what I was expecting and from start to finish the experience wasn’t pleasant . My partner took me to get over a bereavement and was hoping this would cheer me up . It was very shabby and tired . The free parking is on the street parking someone has clipped by car wing Mirror not a great starter to the staycation . On arrival the receptionist ( daughter in law ) informed me that breakfast wasn’t included and showed us to a small dark and very dated room . I told her immediately I didn’t like it and that I wanted a refund. She told me she didn’t know how to use credit card machine and showed us to another room that had a four poster bed and was bright pink . We stayed reluctantly . We went out in the evening and when we returned the key didn’t work for. Both doors . We had to knock the land lady up . She was pleasant but it made us feel awkward . I found it odd that a baby was sat on a sofa eating crisps in a nappy unattended . They say there is a bar with no drinks for sale and not operational and has CBeebies and a child under 18 months attending it . It’s not the kind of place that is advertised . The staff are unprofessional and the place is very unhygienic . I would like a credit for this booking. We were told we hadn’t paid yesterday when we clearly had late at night . She then called and apologised for the mistake . It was supposed to be a relaxing break. Last night there were people shouting and smashing glasses . I did not feel safe at all there . It is not a place to feel welcome or accommodated . I am sorry but I am totally overwhelmed by how bad the experience was . The conservatory is more like a storage room with mirrors on the floor and it’s very dangerous . The garden is pretty but not enough seating . It felt like we were intruding all the time and we were paying £80 per night . It’s definitely not worth the money . It’s dusty dark dingy no staff to ask for things . When we left today no one day was to be seen to discuss the matter . It’s the strangest place I have ever stayed and very sloppy service. I am sorry buc it needs a good clean and a refurbishment. I am so unhappy . I really hope you can please reimburse me at some of the money . I have never seen such a badly run establishment. The only thing I can say is they did give me a can of coke on the house . It’s really sad that a surprise my boyfriend treat to me was such a disaster !
