This is a great addition to the Helsinki Scandic range, converting an old building into a stunning new hotel. It is pretty big (over 300 rooms) but there is enough space for everything to happen. Rooms are lovely and well designed. Rooms sizes and shapes vary because of the building conversion. Some have baths. The superior rooms are all gorgeous and face the church square. Everything in the room worked well and internal noise insulation was excellent. Good air-con and free wi-fi. Blackout curtains were efficient and lighting very well managed. Breakfast is in a vast but multi-roomed area with some seating outside in the atrium. Nothing was missing from the buffet and despite the number of guests it all worked well with plenty of seating. The location of the hotel is also good, very central, 5 minutes’ walk from the Kamppi shopping centre (and metro) and 3 minutes’ walk from tram stops.
Stayed one night in Holiday Inn Expo while attending to a conference at Messukeskus. Hotel is vey well situated for conference visitors and Pasila station and Tripla mall are both at a short stroll away. I had my night at Top Floor (9th floor) and room was big enough and good quality, view from the window was nice over the roofs of Helsinki and bed was very comfortable and linens good quality. High floor was very quiet during my stay. Also the shower was roomy and high enough even for a taller traveller, coffee and tea making facilities were good and iron and ironing board very usefull. Unfortunately there were one major and few minor hickups during my stay that shouldn't be ta case: 1) The room was too cold and it couldn't be heated enough (hopefully they will get it fixed for the next traveller) 2) Someone had eaten my chokolade-bars - 9th floor treat (or they were forgot to put to the room) 3) The light from the minibar-freezer was randomly blinking 4) Breakfast left something missing - only one pearson working by the tables and maybe that's why the buffet looked little empty or lame... All in all a good stay but easily could have been much better without the issues.
訪訪客When we arrived, receptionist was helpful, giving us information what we needed. Visit top floor restaurant make me feel good, thinking how many times I’ve been here, over 20 years, and still it’s nice place relax, take a beer. After evening walks, we go cafeteria restaurant, in street view, enjoy hot, fresh good coffee.( it’s very important to my wife) And also there is quality drinks. Room is very clean, I was hoping big bed, when I made my reservation, and I get that, thankfully I sleep like a baby. Location is super middle of Helsinki, train station, taxi, supermarket, just go out, and you are already there. We definitely come back. Thank you for all, and special thanks for Anna reception.
There is no reason why this hotel should be given under 5 star ! The hotel is the cleanest I have ever stayed in . The air con is the perfect temperature and it’s so very quiet ! The hotel has decent sized rooms and a nice bathroom Super comfy beds and outlets next to the bed There is no tv I suspect that how the hotel keeps the prices low The hotel is well situated next to a supermarket and places to eat 5 min walk to transport buses and trams I genuinely have no complaints There is some contraction but it takes 2 mins to walk through . I sincerely believe that other reviews complaining are ridiculous
訪訪客Top if you are looking for a cheap place to stay. Even their 16 people shared rooms are furnitured in a very intelligent way so they provide privacy. I was really scared of sleeping in one room with 15 other people. After my trip there, i was not anymore. Also their shared area is really comfy and has everything you need including sofas, multiple TVs and a REALLY big kitchen. It is also very clean and the staff is super friendly.
HhyannisonmymindI thought this was a good idea to take a RestPod for the maximum 7 hours for the night before my flight so I wouldn’t have to stress about waking up really early to take into account the half hour taxi ride etc. And I still think it was a good idea but this option needs some improvements for me to choose this option again. The pros: - the maximum time of seven hours was enough and good for an early flight. I was able to drop off my suitcases before 9.30 in the evening (since I was taking a Finnair flight) and then have an evening snack before going to the pod - the location was good (only a few minutes walk from bag drop and right next to the restaurants that were open late) and easy to find - checking in was very easy since you get the number of your room and the PIN code in your email 15 min before your reservation. Everything was smooth in getting in the pod. - the pod looked nice inside and the surroundings were quiet. The glass wall converted to blur out any visuals into the pod. The cons: - my major complaint would be the temperature which was way too hot even for someone who likes a warm room. The pod felt very stuffy from the start and it didn’t really improve even though the fan was set on high. This really needs to be fixed. - another larger complaint is the light that comes in through the glass. It wasn’t super bright but enough to disturb sleep. So luckily I had brought my eye mask. This could easily be fixed by adding some kind of dark curtain to be pulled in front of it. - and even though the provided sheets, blankets and pillow were pretty comfortable, the actual bed/couch was too hard. - the bathrooms were a small walk away which I knew and was basically ok but they weren’t really catered to people sleeping there (somewhat complicated to brush teeth and take care of any other refreshing or putting on or washing off makeup) - the pod had no instructions on how to use the window blurring function or where the bathrooms are or any other info on the services. That could be added to make it easier to know where everything is.
訪訪客Welcome to your build-your-own gulag experience ! This hostel was just a joke. I arrived at 11 pm , layover of 12 hours, so I was too cheap for the Hilton . I thought, well sounds good, hotel with your own bed, bathrooms shared ,how bad could it be. It was the typical grey and icy Finland experience everyone imagines .Well, I marched over to the hostel from the airport, at night with my google maps, so somehow I found it. I wouldn’t advise any females doing this at that time. It’s practically walking out of the arrival hall, past the finavia pilot building (right side) then straight ahead, left continue past the parking lot and the traffic light left again and after the bridge 200 meters right. The code they sent me reliably worked but the room was a joke. There is no reception, nobody to help in case something goes wrong. It didn’t, fortunately. Back to the room : Maybe 10m2. 1 coffee machine and a hot water kettle but not even 1 miserable pack of instant coffee for 85$? Not even the bed was made, you arrive and make it. Worse than a gulag. Same atmosphere by the way. Ice cold outside. The showers were dirty, the bathroom clean, I wouldn’t ever come back. I guess sleeping at the airport is still more fun than on this 80 cm x 180 cm bed. Not kidding. I liked the view onto trees and ice, something new for me, being 300 days a year at tropical beaches …
