大森林私人自然保護區酒店(Grootbos Private Nature Reserve)

Wir wurden bei Anreise durch unseren persönlichen Guide Tim empfangen, der mit uns mögliche Aktivitäten für die nächsten drei Tage individuell plante und uns in der Folge vom Frühstück bis zum Nachmittag persönlich mit sehr hoher emotionaler und fachlicher Kompetenz auf dem Gelände und außerhalb betreute bzw. zu externen Ausflügen chauffierte (4x4-Tour, Reiten, Wahle-watching, Fatbike, Höhlen-Tour, Picknick). Hervorragende Gastronomie mit qualitativ hochwertiger Speisenauswahl: die Grundgerichte sind im Prinzip immer vegetarisch, dazu können „Proteine“ (Fisch, Garnelen, Geflügel, Lamm, Rindfleisch…) gewählt werden. Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück. In jeder Funktion ausgesprochen verbindliche und freundliche Mitarbeiter. Sehr großzügige, weitläufige und hervorragend ausgestattete Familiensuite mit 2 Schlafzimmern. Sehr schöne Poolanlage. Zusammenfassend, ein wunderschönes, landschaftlich reizvoll gelegenes und hervorragend geführtes Resort, in welchem man eine sehr erholsame Auszeit nehmen und entspannt seinen Urlaub beginnen kann. Gern wären wir länger als drei Nächte geblieben…

Einzigartig schöne Anlage! Wunderbar ruhig thronen die Forrest-Lodge und die einzelnen Häuser inmitten des Naturreservates mit Blick über die Küste. Sehr geschmackvolle und luxuriös eingerichtete Häuser. Das Konzept mit Naturreservat und den angebotenen Aktivitäten ist stimmig und überzeugt. Äußerst aufmerksames und freundliches Personal. An einem kalten Abend brannte der Kamin in unserer Suite, als wir vom Abendessen zurückkamen. So etwas ist einfach nett! Einzig das Restaurant erinnert leider ein wenig an eine Kantine. Hier gelingt das mit der einzigartigen Atmosphäre so gar nicht. Selbst die Toiletten neben dem Restaurant sind schicker und hatten sogar wesentlichen netteren Blumenschmuck - eigentlich unfassbar. Die Essen (sehr) gut bis Mittelmaß. Gutes Frühstück, (sehr) guter und leichter Lunch, tolle Desserts, mittelmäßiges Dinner. Der Koch setzt abends auf indisch-asiatische Küche, die geschmacklich leider sehr eindimensional bleibt - so fehlt vor allem die Frische. Auch wurde die Dinner-Karte drei Tage nicht gewechselt - abgesehen von der Art des Fisches. Die Lunch-Karte gefiel uns besser und war mit einem zusätzlichen Tages- und einem wechselnden Nudelgericht auch abwechslungsreicher. Selbst beim Frühstück gab es zwei Tagesspecials. Warum dann nicht Abends? Sehr unverständlich und sehr schade! Insgesamt finden wir den Preis bei einer Buchung aus Europa atemberaubend. Vor allem, da wir gesehen haben, dass es bei einer Buchung vor Ort erheblich günstiger ist. Und wir hätten auch erwartet, dass zumindest ein Hauswein inkludiert wäre. Unsere hohe Bewertung erfolgt trotz der Negativpunkte wegen toller Menschen und toller Anlage. Nochmals würden wir es zum (Europa-) Preis allerdings nicht buchen.

Ein Ort der Superlative. Lage topp. Essen topp. Service topp. Guide topp. Ausflüge topp. Foundation topp. Art Gallery topp. Spa topp. Zimmer einfach doppelt topp. Irgendwie ist hier alles einfach topp. Ein Juwel.

Eine traumhafte Unterkunft mit perfekten Service. Wir hatten traumhafte Tage die uns ewig in Erinnerung bleiben werden. Jeder Wunsch wurde uns von den Augen abgelesen. Sehr gutes Essen mit toller Aussicht. Die Flora und Fauna ist beeindruckend und die Guides machen einen super Job. Gleich zu Beginn wird ein privates Programm gemeinsam erstellt, wobei auf alle Wünsche perfekt eingegangen wird. Ganz besonderen Dank an Herrmann, er hat uns und unserem Sohn traumhafte Stunden bereitet. Wir können die Unterkunft nur empfehlen und wir kommen sicher wieder. Schöne Grüße aus Deutschland.

Supreme luxury in the most beautiful natural environment. Our stay was sublime from the welcome drink to the last farewell at the nursery purchasing some fynbos plants. Jono was an extremely informative and friendly guide who was willing to answer all my questions with a smile. Every meal was a cullinary experience inspired by the surrounding fynbos... a fine dining delight. The whole experience was magical and the Fynbos safaris a big highlight for me.

Wow, we still can’t quite believe we have been lucky enough to visit such a beautiful and captivating place. From the moment we walked into reception to the second we left we were spellbound by the views and location of the property. On top of this the staff were incredible, Jono our guide made our stay. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about his job we came away with a good understanding of the fynbos and the Grootbos foundations goals. We stayed in Forrest lodge, our room was perfect, a refreshing pool for the day and a wood burning fire perfect for a glass of wine in the evening. Everything was catered for and really well decorated. The service, food and wine is impeccable, Piwe our host us surprised us with a private birthday dinner for my husband in the wine cellar. what a treat! Her warm and friendly service topped off our stay. Everything about Grootbos amazed us, we certainly would love to book again and for more than 2 nights so we could enjoy more of the activities that are on offer.

We have visited Grootbos a number of times (5!) and have fallen in love with everything the place has to offer every single time. This includes the spectacular location, the beautifully appointed rooms, the service (we still fondly remember Fortunate amongst many others!), the spa, the beach and the absolutely delicious food. Can’t wait to go back!

We stayed for 6 nights at Grootbos, and had the most wonderfully active but chilled time. Special thanks to Michelle and the team at the on-site stables for our daily rides on their gorgeous horses. The horse-care was impeccable as was attention to healthy and safety of the riders. Michelle was amazing at matching horses and ride-plan to the rider ability, and as experienced riders we were as delighted as some of the less experienced/beginners that the team caters for. Our guide was really fun and knowledgable which really added to our enjoyment and learning about the local history, flora and fauna! The food was also a highlight, and the service team were incredibly thoughtful.

This beautiful private reserve marries so many exquisite delights. The art gallery with its treasure trove of exquisite plant paintings subtlety echoes the raw artistry of the fynbos and the forests that surround the hotel. The environmentally gentle buildings of the hotel blend into the wild world. The sun filigrees the forest floor with light and that light is replaced by the warm path lights at night. It’s a kaleidoscope. The flowers, the horses, the delicious food, the care for a guests needs, the melted metal of the flat grey sea as the sun sets. Beauty everywhere. The kindness of Juanita, the grace of the owner Michael and the sheer brilliance of all of the staff whether their responsibility be big or small makes this a singular experience. To see their commitment to environmentally sound management, conservation, education and social equity makes this experiencing this place unique. Grootbos is an example to the world of what inclusive multi-threaded management for good can achieve. I was delighted to be a guest, I felt like a million bucks; but, most of all, I felt honoured to be a part of realizing their dream of a better world. A world full of vibrant animals and beautiful plants and happy humans.
