Attended the franki vali tribute .lat night Very good service, good food and excellent entertainment. I have read some of the other reviews regarding the accomodation , i have not stayed here so cannot comment . A great venue for live acts ❤️

Very disappointing, despite there being only two tables occupied, the cold starters took 25 minutes to arrive. My crab starter was very small, watery and tasteless. This was pointed out to the waitress but no comment or apology was forthcoming.The mains, duck and lamb were acceptable but not as pink as expected. Despite the limited choice of deserts, the chocolate mousse was not available and the brownie served was very dry. The dining room is quite pleasant spoiled by the Liberace style mirrors and lights. Definatlely not the five star service the hotel claims

Awful , Not 5 star, stay elsewhere , Window misted, up blind broken , mould in the shower . Rang the nunber Don who said I only checked that room last week . Reception was closed restaurant shut sunday evening and monday , No staff around . Safe did not work . Breakfast was a joke nothing laid out ,I ordered cereal and the milk was put in the bowl ,no milk jug . No heating on at breakfast , roof leaked . I am so disappointed as I sent picture of everything to Don not heard back ,shame on you , charging £190 per night .

Definitely not 5*. Reception was open intermittently, not the hours advertised. Menus very limited and did not vary. It took 3 days before a manager was available to hear a complaint and then it was on the phone. He denied and obfuscated even though the complaint was genuine and obvious. The plumbing disturbed the people on the room above. Having said that, the restaurant staff were efficient, pleasant and charming.

Very disappointing! Mushroom soup tasted of nothing but pepper, goats cheese & beetroot starter was basic with tinned beetroot. Roast was tasteless, potatoes pale, meat poor quality. Kids bolognaise tasted of nothing but dried herbs. Service was ok but staff seemed disinterested, service was 3 star at best. Such a shame, won’t be back!

Was looking forward to staying at this hotel, for a 2 night stay on a Wed & Thurs, our room was lovely & well catered for with a comfortable bed. The safe didn't work. Dinner on the first night good. Breakfast was awful, we were the only ones there, it was deadly silent, no continental selection laid out although you could ask for friut, cereal etc. My husband had the cooked breakfast and everything was deep fried, mushrooms tasted of the oil, no flavour & bacon was over cooked, tough & dry. We asked for tea & it came in a cup with a bag & hot water, no pot, so everytime you wanted a top up, or toast etc you had to keep getting up to find the chef to ask. There were no other staff available, just the chef doing everything. There was no salt & pepper on the table so had to get up again. Reception was closed with a contact name & number for any emergencies. When talking to the chef he had an answer for everything. On the Thurs we went out for evening meal & got back about 9.30pm, everything was closed/locked up, no one was around, reception was closed again & no chance of a nightcap at the bar as this was also closed, very disappointing. This hotel seems to be run with minimal staff, such a shame as a lovely venue.

Unfortunately this hotel is not a five star I have stayed in many and this has come nowhere near. I’ve tried to contact the hotel now on numerous occasions to address our concerns but they are refusing to reply to emails. There is no one in the hotel at night, and as others have said, although we didn’t have a fire alarm, this would’ve been an issue Should there have been one We had a problem with the toilet which they knew on arrival and still put us into the room. We promised it had been sorted but when returning it was making a worse noise. Then when we started, we rang the emergency number and we were told it would be fixed in the morning, not ideal. It still wasn’t fixed when we left. It was quieter but for a five star hotel the breakfast was minimal. The staff seemed to do everything and unfortunately the owner doesn’t seem to want to return any emails or take responsibility for problems within the hotel.

The fire alarm went off 5 times during one night/morning. We stayed there on the 8th of August 2025. The first fire alarm went off at roughly 4.40am. No sign of anyone around to turn it off. Phoned the emergency contact Don and took 4 calls to get through to him to inform him the fire alarm was going off and that there was no one around to turn it off. He instructed me how to silence the alarm and said he would contact the night person and then phone me back. A guest worked out how to turn off the alarm as it was only silenced and would have gone off again if it had not been turned off. All the guests decided to go back inside the hotel as no one turned up from the hotel. Phoned Don back to let him know that we turned off the alarm and that all the guests had gone back inside. He informed me on the call that the night person was in hospital so there was no member of staff on duty. He said that he would drive to the hotel to check the alarm. At 5.25am the alarm went off again so I phoned Don again and he informed me he was at the hotel checking the alarm system. The fire alarm then went off at 8.15am, 8.23am and 8.32am, so there was no chance of having a lie in after the disruptive night. The hotel is very much lacking in staff. It feels much more like a BnB than a ‘5 star hotel’. At check out there was no apology about the fire alarm going off multiple times during our stay.

If you are looking for a nice relaxed enjoyable Sunday Lunch with family, then do not go to the Lord Bute. We waited 30 minutes for anyone to bring us a menu, then the actual meal took an hour to arrive. The meal itself was certainly not worth the money, it was swimming in gravy and bland. The redeeming part of the meal was the pudding but this was so small. When we arrived there were three very junior staff on to cater for over 20 tables. This only improved when a senior member of the staff deemed to arrive to help. We have been to the Bute before and to be honest have complained before about this exact thing, and although we live locally we will never go again, and will certainly tell others not to waste their time or money.

As always our stay at the Lord Bute was perfect. Room Fabulous. Restaurant and Food perfect. The Lord Bute does what it says on the packet, everything is always just so. It is hard to believe that this very well run hotel & restaurant is manned by such a small efficient, effective and customer focused team. If you are staying at Lord Bute, don't succumb to the offerings of other local food outlets because they are cheaper, if you do you will really miss out on this fine dining experience. A real treat. We will return......

we stayed for one night on may 4th. Unfortunately we were woken to the sound of the fire alarm at 11pm. There were no staff available to assist. Eventully we found a number to call. They agreed to come and turn it off but took half an hour to do so as they were not on site. They had no idea if there was a fire or not. The alarm then went off again at 3am! This time the staff refused to come out and we all had to try and turn the alarm off ourselves. After a sleepless night we had cold/ tepid showers as there was no hot water. We were promoised a refund by the receptionist before we left. We all had paid half and refused to pay the rest. Having tried to call and receive our remaining refund the manager refused but offered us a free nights stay. We do not want a free nights stay but simply a refund for the awful experience of the one night we did stay. I know of at least 2 others who have received similar refusals. One family with culdren could not stand the noise of the alarm and left at 3am. overall the treatment we received was not only poor, but represented a health and safety risk. Without staff on site they had no idea if there was a fire or a false alarm and seemed unconcerned.

Suffering with bad back pain the bed was absolutely terrible. The mattress obviously needs replacing and rather than invest in a decent one they have just stuck a mattress topper over it. The internet was a complete waste of time and non existent. Having stayed at this hotel many times over the years including two wedding anniversaries we were extremely disappointed. The place is looking tired and obviously requires upgrading.

Absolutely excellent everybody at the Hotel was so helpful and friendly got a lovely room upgrade the food was absolutely gorgeous and we had a lovely night sleep such a lot of history to this place would definitely recommend it to anybody. You will not be disappointed.

Arrived at 4.00pm and booked in by friendly receptionist. Good clean room with king sized bed . Tried the television which did not work. Suspect remote battery exhausted. . Went to reception, all locked up. A number to phone , but as going out did not bother. Had some tea, one breakfast and the other Earl Grey. Both lacking in flavour and one thrown away as being undrinkable . Bedside lights worked when we got there, but not when turned on in the middle of the night Large attractively designed and spacious dining room with bar. Breakfast the following morning was offered choice of continental or cooked at an extra £14+. One of our party had the cooked which was a bit Spartan and not worth the money. Been nice if the breakfast had been totally included in the overall tariff Appears hotel being run on a shoestring and same receptionist serving breakfast. Appreciate staffing problems but all friendly and efficient.
