The views from Treetops room is amazing. So many different birds in the garden. Although July, my son enjoyed a few swims in the pool. The room has everything, very comfortable. We will definitely recommend and we will return for sure, when next in the area. Loved it.

We recently stayed at Gateside Guesthouse and wanted to share my experience. Pros: Beautiful Views: The scenery surrounding the guest house is absolutely stunning. Waking up to such breathtaking views was a highlight of our stay. Delicious Breakfast: The breakfast offered was delightful, with a variety of options that were both tasty and satisfying. It truly set a positive tone for the day. Cons: Unfriendly Welcome: Unfortunately, our welcome was not as warm as we had hoped from the manager. The initial interaction felt a bit cold and rushed, which set an awkward tone for the start of our stay. Communication Style: Throughout our visit, reminders about the house rules were delivered in a rather unfriendly manner. This could be improved by adopting a more welcoming tone for guests. Feeling Unwelcome: At times, we felt unwelcome due to the overall atmosphere and communication style. A more friendly approach from the manager would greatly enhance the guest experience. Conclusion: While there were aspects of our stay that we truly enjoyed, such as the beautiful views and delicious breakfast, the unfriendly welcome and communication style left much to be desired. With some improvements in guest relations, Gateside Guesthouse has the potential to provide a much more inviting experience.

The location we stayed in was beautiful, and we truly appreciated the wonderful amenities. The views were stunning, and the neighbourhood felt clean and safe, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. However, we encountered some challenges during our trip that affected our experience. On the fourth day, the host's communication style came across as demeaning, which impacted the overall mood of our stay. We felt uncomfortable with the constant reminders about potential penalties for damages, which detracted from our enjoyment. Additionally, our breakfast was unfortunately late on December 31st, and we were surprised that a hot breakfast wasn't prepared for us over two days. This created an inconsistency in our experience, especially considering the expectations regarding our treatment. We believe that with some adjustments in communication and service consistency, the overall experience could greatly improve. While we enjoyed many aspects of our trip, addressing these concerns would enhance the stay for future guests.

A comfortable and welcoming stay over the course of the Hilton Arts Festival. Magda was both warm and professional and the rooms are well appointed and cosy - the electric blanket was appreciated!. One suggestion: Place filter water bottles for guests in the room. With a scenic view and tranquil surroundings, Gateside provides a lovely stay in Hilton.

Tranquil getaway with spectacular views,comfortable, beds and I most definitely enjoyed the shower. Easy access from the main road into hilton and if you fancy a spa treatment, it's a stone throw away. Quaint little town with a good few attractions.

Simply the best! Warmest, kindest personel. Breathtaking location. Comfiest bed! The breakfast was delicious and fit for champions! Wish we could have stayed a little longer! Thank you Paula for going the extra mile! Definitely worth every compliment

Magda and her team were absolutely amazing to say the least. The guesthouse was so beautiful, neat and quaint. The views were absolutely breathtaking! We absolutely loved every moment of our getaway from the city life. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The family room exceeded our expectations. The feel of the room was absolutely amazing. The beds were super comfortable. It felt like we were sleeping on the clouds. Magda welcomed us so warmly and explained the housekeeping rules so well. We loved the full English breakfast as well. The ladies serving us were so polite and friendly. Thank you Gateside Guesthouse for making our stay an amazing and memorable one. We will certainly come back again in the near future

I had a fantastic, unique suite with several beds, cute kitchen, and beautiful large bathroom with dual sinks, shower, and large tub by the window. So many gorgeous touches, from the wine glasses set up for an evening drink to beautiful pictures and other art on the walls.

Great accomodation and a great view from the appartment. The location is perfect to do a visit to Pietermaritzburg, yet it is also very inviting to stay on site and enjoy. The host is super friendly and we would certainly recommend to go there! We have enjoyed it a lot.

What a lovely stay. Lovely view. Pet friendly. Paula and Magda was so friendly. We travel a lot to KZN from Pretoria and I think we found our lay-over spot! From one Guesthouse owner to another : Paula is a real Gem! We even offered her a job and she declined. Lol.

Conveniently situated near shops and hospital, but in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Beds were comfortable and the unit had everything that we needed . The staff was friendly and Sally was very helpful.

Nice accommodation in a well maintained part of Hilton. Easily accessible from N3. Friendly service. Rooms were serviced daily. Clean towels. No aircons. Fans only. Only disappointment for me was no carports or cover for cars.
