Previous reviews have noted that the decor in the rooms is in need of updating. This is true, but that aside the room was perfectly clean and comfortable - the bed in particular was very comfortable and being able to control the level of heating in the room was a bonus. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the cooked breakfast, which was very good. I would definitely stay here again.

a great stay as always, an amazing place to stay to walk the bowl. such a pretty area. the hotel is good, possible issue with creaky floors. shower was always hot, staff are friendly and helpful. i will stay again as it stay here often

Pub food and breakfast was fine, it’s in a quiet spot well away from traffic noise.
Bed was comfortable.
It’s a bit tired, but don’t let that put you off just be aware that the fixtures and fittings are serviceable not smart.

A very old property with lovely staff. Needs tlc, 2nd lamp at bedside, curtain hanging off rail, window open handles hanging off and black mould round bath plus no lid to broken bin in bathroom

I’m afraid to say that the bedrooms are very much in need of decorating and bathrooms refitting.
Staff friendly enough but it’s just a shame about the accommodation.

Nice stay while studying at the university of Surrey, Pieter was very helpful and I enjoyed some nice evening meals in the gastrobistro downstairs. Room was quiet and beautiful location on the Common ideal for walks. In honesty, the decor could benefit from updating along with new pillows. But I would stay again. All staff very friendly and hospitable.
