Your Maldivian dreams will come true at The Standard’s first island escape. A short sea plane ride away from Male, our oasis offers a unique blend of relaxation and social life, perfect for a romantic escape or a getaway with everyone you know. Whether an overwater villa floating in our lagoon or settled on a pristine sandy beach front, each of our 115 villas will feature their own private lounge deck and plunge pool. You will fill your days snorkeling our naturally protected house reef or dive deep on boat excursion through the local waters. Physical activity not your thing? Relax in our indoor hydrotherapy oasis, The Standard Spa, complete with a communal hammam, aroma steam room, daily yoga and nine private treatment rooms to leave your body refreshed. No Standard stay is ever complete without a night to remember; so whether dancing to tribal beats at a beach bonfire or at our glass bottom, overwater nightclub, the only thing that will end the fun is the sunrise.
This being our third visit to the Maldives a special place for special anniversaries, we were comfortable with our knowledge and expectations. But the Adaaran Select Meedhupparu was so much more than just another island. From the choice of food, in all restaurants and the general laid back atmosphere throughout the resort it is a dream come true. From the range of excellent Indian cuisine in the Sufura restaurant, to the views and service at the water villa restaurant, the meals were fabulous. The staff were only too happy to help wherever required and would go the extra mile to ensure you had a fantastic holiday. This was the case throughout the resort. This included special arrangements for our 30th wedding anniversary which I requested and arranged without my wife finding out. Nothing was too much to ask. Special mention, Janitha, for his help arranging the special surprise, champagne, roses and dinner at water villa restaurant. Having recently dived into scuba, excuse the pun, the staff at Divepoint welcomed us with open arms, arranged equipment and boat dives allowing us to see Mantas, Sharks and turtles in their natural environment as well as pointing us in the correct direction with regards to improving our technique and I even completed my Open Water course while on holiday, in much warmer waters than back home in Scotland. Thanks Estephi for your expertise in helping me finish the course. If you are of a mind to sit and watch the sun go down, look no further than the Albino Bar where you can choose from the “all inclusive” list of 101 cocktails. We tried to get through them all but fell slightly short. When asked about holidaying in the Maldives we will have no reservations in recommending this resort to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday with activities if and when required and discreet / professional staff who are attentive and only too happy to make it a holiday of a lifetime. The only question is how soon can we return? Since returning home we have noticed the awards Adaaran Meedhupparu and Divepoint have earned and must agree they are fully deserved and sure they will not be the last.
