「This hotel is ok, the setting is behind a council estate so not much to look at. The rooms are standard but a bit shabby. Carpet was torn and hadn't been repaired. The beds are big and comfortable. The bar area is nice but the reception and formal dining areas didn't have any atmosphere and were very quiet. The dining area is dated and run down, and not in a nice 'I'm in a castle' way. The service was good and the food was nice.」
The cottage is in a small, quiet hamlet two miles up the hill from Evanton village. It is actually part of a converted farm steading consisting of ten cottages, all made of natural stone. Ours is the only one fortunate enough to have a vaulted ceiling and Juliet balcony on the first floor, where the lounge is situated. Bespoke wooden beds and shelves for bathroom basins. Fantastic kitchen with breakfast bar and en-suites with walk-in showers, and one with a slipper bath. A cosy courtyard with heating and lighting and a covered pergola. This is a great place to stay and use as a base to explore, or stop off for a few days while driving the NC500. Whilst our cottage sleeps 4 - one king-size room and one double room - we do have a single fold-up bed (which can be put up in the living room) and a travel cot - both are available upon request when booking. https://swordalestays.comAbout pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About events:No events allowed.
