The staff is amazing and the grounds are lovely. We had a balcony room, which was hard to enjoy in the early morning due to landscaping noise. There's not much to do in the area in April before watersports are in full swing, but if you want a mellow getaway, it's a lovely place to be. We ate at some nice local area restaurants in Irvington (Dredge, The Local) Killmarnock (Killmarnock Inn, Chitterchats Ice Cream), and White Stone (Sandpiper). Customer service was pretty amazing everywhere we visited in the area.

I’ve been going to The Tides Inn on and off for over 50 years! We started when I was a young kid. The resort continues to be an incredibly enjoyable experience. The improvements that ownership has made over the past ~20 years are wonderful. The grounds have never looked better, and the Oyster habit is quite a sight to see. The new boardwalk is a great place for a stroll with your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The restaurant is excellent, the bar is beautiful and welcoming, the outdoor spaces are inviting and comfortable and the staff is top notch. If you feel like splurging a bit, request Room 151. It’s spectacular!!

The Tides Inn is a nice place, but it is definitely not worth the price. The room, while nice, had beat up furniture and smelled musty. The ceiling started to leak and plaster fell down. We also had a flickering light that they couldn’t repair and the tub was broken, which they did repair. Finally, you could hear the children running in the room above us all day. The staff is extremely friendly and the excursions and food are great, but were over priced as well. On the whole, I don’t think that we will ever return.

The Tides Inn continues to "re-make" itself into a first class resort. Improvements made over the past several years have resulted in a more comfortable environment. Known for its warm and gracious hospitality, the Tides continues to add interesting activities such as pottery making, nature walks, and art classes to its already charming grounds. The spa is quite good, with a complement of services one would expect. Tennis, pickleball, and a few remaining golf greens provide additional outdoor activities to complement the pool and watersports area that are exceptional.

It was a wonderful experience. We were there for a wedding and it was over the top. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. Staff was so helpful, the rooms were beautiful and well maintained. We did not have time to use much of the things the resort had to offer, but we will go back again to use more.

This is a beautiful property with wonderful views and a very welcoming staff. The pros of The TIdes Inn include great beds, sheets, and pillows. The creek cruise was wonderful and the captain was very knowledgeable. The cons include a less than stellar restaurant (check out the local restaurants which we found much better) and rooms that are in need of a renovation. Our room had a mildew smell, broken screen doors, and gaps in the door that you could literally see through. The inn is quite expensive for what you get. We frequently weekend in the many fantastic inns and hotels in Virginia and we were excited about our first time at The TIdes. Unfortunately it will be our last.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and lots of complimentary goodies (wine, soda, water, snacks, coffee, etc) and the grounds are well kept. We enjoyed the swimming pool, kayak, biking, and our walk to the forest trails and shoreline. They also have provided us with a list of places to go out of town...

A remarkable place. The setting and grounds in this great part of Virginia are simply amazing with the views of Carter Creek and the Rappahannock. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and maintained. The restaurants are very enjoyable. The activities offered are educational and fun. Perhaps most impressive though is the welcoming and attentive staff - there is none better.

The check-in is on the late side (4:00 pm), and if you ask for an "earlier" check-in, they charge you $75.! For the price of the rooms, this additional charge is offensive. That aside, we were happy with our accommodations, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The Tides Inn is truly a hidden gem. It’s a small pieces of paradise carved out of the lower Chesapeake bay. It offers something for everyone. You feel relaxed the moment you arrive. The service and staff are some of the best around. The restaurants and food are wonderful.

Wonderful coastal Virginia property with authentic hospitality and a beautiful resort! All of the team members that I encountered on my stay were great. My room attendant showed attention to detail and noticed I was reading a book- she left a beautiful Oyster bookmark for me- this seemingly little touch stood out in a BIG way!

They are trying really hard but need to figure out who they’re gonna be when they grow up. Is it a river, sailing, down-to-earth place or is it luxury? Because it’s not yet the latter - a LONG way off - but it seems to be aspiring to that instead of the former. Would’ve been easier if they’d have just presented themselves as the former.

The Tides Inn was a great place for the soul. The staff was great and made you feel welcomed. They were professional and very attentive to your needs. The resturants were awesome and the water views were spectacular. The evening visit from housekeeping to check in and bring ice & snacks were a special touch. You never have to leave the Inn unless you just want too. The activities and classes were interesting and one of a kind. I will definitely stay again.

My room was clean, spacious, and the view was amazing. The staff was courteous, helpful, and kind. The venue itself was clean, beautiful inside and out. So much to offer for All. I would definitely recommend for everyone to visit & experience the Tides Inn!
