As you enter the front door you will be in a fully equipped kitchen featuring a wrap-around counter with seating for six. There is an oven, stove, large refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, utensils, pots, pans and plenty of wine and beer glasses to enjoy. The dining room features a beautiful country table with seating for 10. The multi-level layout of our 3000+ square foot cabin will allow you and your family/friends to enjoy time together or spread out and enjoy all the home has to offer, inside and out!
The Living Room features a wood burning fireplace, comfortable sofa and loveseat along with two leather ottoman chairs and a big screen smart TV. Relax and take in the Great Smoky Mountain views or step right outside to the covered deck featuring 6 rocking chairs. The wrap around deck on the same floor provides long range views where you can sit and relax from sunrise to sunset, featuring 2 additional rocking chairs and a rustic wood loveseat. You might choose to eat outside at the patio table and chairs overlooking the beautiful expansive mountain scenery.
The spacious main floor also features two bedrooms, a bathroom, and washer/dryer. Walk upstairs as you are enjoying the mountain scenery from the large picture window to an open loft area leading into the master bedroom/bathroom featuring a private balcony. Walk back down into the main floor and take the stairs to the lower floor. This level features a second wood burning fireplace, an expansive sofa, a bookcase, a pool table, a bedroom/bathroom, and your very own private theatre room! Step outside to another deck which features a spectacular outdoor hanging bed, two rocking chairs and an incredible fire pit with plenty of comfortable seating.
The area provides the perfect setting to enjoy all four seasons! Experience the beautiful spring flowers, cool waters in the summer, incredible scenery of the fall foliage or visit in November and December and take a ride on The Polar Express. The possibilities are endless in our beautiful area.
We have enjoyed staying at rental properties and making unforgettable memories throughout the years with our family and friends and now are extremely excited to share our very own recently purchased home. We have put a lot of thought and care into designing, renovating, and decorating the home.

Just over an hour from Asheville, NC, ONCE UPON A STREAM is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in beautiful Sapphire, North Carolina. The cottage is conveniently located near shopping, dining, and all sorts of recreation. Cashiers, NC is just ten minutes away and the quaint town of Highlands, NC is only 25 minutes away. Lake Toxaway, NC is also nearby- just ten minutes away. There are more than a dozen spectacular waterfalls to hike and explore less than a half hour away.
SAPPHIRE VALLEY RESORT
Our guests also have full access to the Sapphire Valley Resort and all of its amazing amenities including the private Lake Fairfield where you can fish, and sail, paddle, and swim. Visit nearby Narrows Falls and all of the fabulous amenities at the Sapphire Valley Resort. The Sapphire Valley Recreation Center offers gem mining, three swimming pools (one heated indoor and two outdoor), two saunas, two hot tubs, locker rooms, mini-golf, arcade and game room, lounge with WiFi, tennis, playground, running track, par-3 golf course, direct access to the Horsepasture River, and much more. Guests can also purchase discounted tickets to the Biltmore Estate and other area attractions and tours.
SKI SAPPHIRE VALLEY is also inside the Sapphire Valley Resort and offers tons of fun during the winter months. There is a Blue-diamond ski slope complete with quad chair lift and also a Bunny Slope. Frozen Falls is the tubing run and very popular with the kids. Our guests receive 25% off skiing, tubing, and rentals. Ski and Snowboard lessons are available at a very reasonable rate.
We provide first in class concierge service and love to help our guests plan the ultimate mountain vacation. In addition, we provide our guests with access to our unique online guidebook complete with all of our favorite restaurants, things to do, and places to see. Once Upon a Stream is ideally set up for a two or three-family vacation getaway. The cottage is three levels with 4 BR/3.5 BA and sleeps up to 14 persons comfortably.
MAIN LEVEL: offers a large master en-suite with a King-size bed topped with luxurious linens and high-end pillows. Relax after a long day of hiking in the over-sized jetted tub while enjoying the treetop view and taking in all of nature's beauty.
UPPER LEVEL: features two additional bedrooms and a loft with pullout couch. The 2nd bedroom has a queen-sized bed topped with fine linens and pillows. Bedroom 3 has two queen log beds with amazingly comfortable memory foam mattresses and fine linens and pillows.
LOWER LEVEL (Basement aka KID CAVE) is now complete and includes a large rec-room with two sets of mountain log bunk beds, a 55" 4KHD TV, Dish Network, BlueRay Player, Air Hockey table, and Foosball! The new basement also includes bedroom #4 with queen bed and full bathroom.
Ideally situated on a 2-acre private lot, the cottage will spoil you to the point where you won't want to leave. Greet the morning with a cup of coffee on the large back deck. Stroll down the backyard hill along the meandering boulder pathway to the stone patio below and enjoy a glass of wine as you listen to the noisy stream. The kids will stay busy exploring and hiking up and downstream- bring your dog too!

This recently renovated treehouse is a 2 bed/2bath that boasts an additional Dog Suite, so your furry family members have a space all their own! There is an outdoor dog bath (including shampoo & towels) as well as a large fenced-in Dog Play Area. And NO PET FEES! (3 dogs max, unless approved in advance by owner).
For our human guests, the property is on a very private wooded lot and includes an outdoor fire pit, hammock, and outdoor deck. There is also a wood burning fireplace in the great room. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, king size bed, and Smart TV. The secondary bedroom has a queen size bed. There is an extra twin bed (upper bunk) in the Dog Suite if needed (the lower bunk is reserved for dogs only). There is also a small office space, should you need to check in with work while visiting the area. Unlike many other mountain locations, this treehouse offers a strong cell signal and wifi.
The property is easily accessible from Hwy 64, and is approximately 7 minutes from the Sapphire Valley Resort. This aptly named cabin is as cute as they come, tastefully decorated with rustic and antique pieces. Offering hand hewn logs and wide plank knotty pine floors, tongue and grove walls not to mention a large wood burning fireplace. The rushing creek can be enjoyed from the deck or the 600 feet of creek frontage in the back yard for fishing or just wading in the cool clean mountain water. This fisherman's paradise offers fishing right in the back yard or just a few miles down the road is Tuckaseegee River. The open floor plan provides a great hub for your groups activities and the 3 queen beds including sleeper sofa accommodates up to 6 people. The master bedroom is on the main floor with direct access to the deck to enjoy the creek anytime day or night, with a wet bar and private bath. There is a firepit out back to relax by the creek and enjoy the stars as the temperatures get cooler in the evenings.
Close to all the great activities Franklin, Sylva, Cherokee and Bryson City have to offer.
