Un lugar donde la paz se siente desde el ingreso, el lugar es hermoso, la decoración y el buen servicio del personal es de resaltar. Agradecimiento especial a Miguel Guita, quien estuvo atento, servicial y sobre todo divertido.

The check in/ check out ruined the luxury experience. Ive been wanting to stay here since 2019 when I was in law school. You can imagine my excitement when I finally had the opportunity to visit for my first solo international trip. I booked the wellness package for 3 days and that included roundtrip transportation and a dining credit. I provided my flight information as soon as I booked my reservation months prior and requested transportation because I had an early arrival. The horror and anxiety I felt when the resort emailed me a few hours before my flight that I had to pay an additional $310 to check in or I would have to wait at the airport for 5 hrs. I could have planned and explored San Jose had I known beforehand. My friend driving me to the airport felt so bad that he transferred me some money to cover it. the time difference and last minute change made it impossible to book alternative transportation and believe me I tried. The hotel never replied to my email agreeing to the fee. My entire flight I was uneasy and uncertain. When I called the hotel after I landed they did not know if the driver was there :/ AGAIN, I’m a solo woman in a foreign country unsure of how I’m getting to my hotel at 3-4 am. The receptionist told me to wait at a restaurant and she would call me back. I went looking for the drivers and luckily the driver was there. When I checked in the rep barely said hello to me and charged my card 2437.00 for the deposit. I told her the fine print said $1500, she said no but then requested my card and charged it again for 1500. No apology or anything. Room The room was ok. The door lock was beyond worn out and not secure which raised safety concerns. Luckily, I came prepared with door stops/alarms etc. The shower was fantastic and the bed was comfy. Housekeeping came every day and did a wonderful job. The products in the bathroom were awesome. They do turndown every night with a cookie and recipe and I got a schedule the next night. Food The breakfast is consistent. Juices and eggs will def be on the menu. Fabio was so kind and helpful. The garden is gorgeous. The bugs are an issue despite the website claiming the elevation minimizes bugs. The new restaurant was BEAUTIFUL. The pizza was delicious. Mosquitoes are relentless and a cockroach flew on my plate during dinner my first night. Spa Omg. The view was outstanding and the service was fantastic. I did the unlock your voice session and it was amazing. Gym/yoga The gym and new yoga studio are fabulous!! Unfortunately, if you plan other activities it conflicts with the yoga and you’ll miss it. Activities The farmers market with Chef Sergio was so fun. He was very kind and made me feel safe. The cooking class is more of a demonstration because Chef Lindsay prepares the food and you watch. The hikes are self guided except for one day when Carlos led a guided tour. I asked for water before we left because it was so hot and the receptionist told me he got it for us. He had O

Espectacular lugar ! La energía de la montaña se siente en todo momento, la delicia de cada comida y cada ingrediente es realmente sanadora al cuerpo. Una experiencia mágica.

Verdaderamente una experiencia cinco estrellas ¡En todo sentido! La propiedad está diseñada y pensada en el bienestar de sus clientes, cada espacio detallado y enfocado a la estética; la misma está ubicada estratégicamente en medio de las montañas y todo el ambiente se presta para la relajación y el disfrute pleno. El servicio de las personas que trabajan en el hotel es maravilloso, y en el spa incluso más. Kattya (la gerente de Vida Mía Spa) fue super amable e Ivannia me dio un Healing Signature massage de 60 minutos ¡Espléndido! Es notable la capacitación en servicio al cliente que todas las personas con las que traté demostraron. Las instalaciones están en excelentes condiciones, todo era impecable todo estaba limpio, todo olía bien. El servicio de restaurante estuvo muy bien, aunque le hubiese agregado un postre al almuerzo. Cada minuto valió la pena y queda esa sensación de querer regresar una y otra vez. De esos lugares que debes visitar.

For my first visit to Costa Rica, I'm spoiled: The Retreat is the epitome of non-fussy, luxury. Stunning views, excellent rooms, amazing *vegan* restaurant - I plan to make this an annual ritual. Due in large part to the wonderful staff: Jimena (Sales), Emerson, Berny and Luis (Front Desk), Lindsay D and Ninfa (Kitchen) and Jonathan, Karina & Alex (Restaurant) all made my stay truly wonderful. The best part is the attached spa: and all the lovely wellness workshops. I booked the Emotional Healing Package, meeting daily with Dr Shaveta. A truly special Ayurvedic doctor: she was kind, patient, so available. She and Aman make for a wonderful team. I can't wait to return!

Desde el ingreso a The Retreat es un placer a la vista. La atención de Jorge en la recepción, el recorrido del hotel explicando las locaciones y los horarios es súper útil. El equipo del Restaurante: Juan José, Sergio y Karina son muy atentos.

Una experiencia maravillosa. El lugar está lleno de paz, las vistas son increíbles, la atención de todo el personal espectacular y personalizada. Juan José fue un encanto en todo momento, siempre procurando nuestro bienestar. Nos encantaron los detalles y la decoración de cada espacio, incluyendo nuestra habitación. La comida deliciosa y equilibrada, particularmente la cena. El chef Sergio es un artista que adapta sus platillos a las necesidades de los clientes y crea una verdadera experiencia gastronómica. Definitivamente volveremos!

I would love to give them five stars and in many ways they are. But I need to draw the attention to shortcomings so those this will not be good for are alerted The scenery five stars The peacocks five stars Many of the healing treatments five stars but, they need to understand their programs as presented and advise that some people with mobility issues or other medical issues will need a little more TLC then they offer. So I went to a source for the definition of rest as I bought the rest program an instance or period of relaxing or ceasing to engage in strenuous or stressful activity: No way is this rest It is more like boot camp I arrived with booking the best room Noted On a higher level with a view It was dark and the embarked with me on a journey down a steep hill with cobblestone steps very poorly lit and not for a hike up and down as per rest This was a serious hike up and down When the staff person almost fell I said no way They gave me another room for the night Ok a quick fix The next day another room down a very steep incline I was recovering from a foot injury OK a hike up that hill to get a cup of coffee They accommated with help some but offer no room service. Dark ar night another hike up the hill for dinner They did send someone to help Ok the spa great antother hike down a hill cobblestone steps and up three flights of stairs Ok by day 2 days I was getting better at it but geez let people know what they are in for===Rest this is not rest The meals are ok but limited I asked for some fish for lunch= not included 15 dollars for about 3 oz Ok fine For boot csmp you need a bit more then this I dont know about hiking for your first cup of codffee in the morning Pleae The Retreat let people know I felt sorry for two guests I meet huffing and puffing up the hill or stairs to their room And I would also point our the shower is backwards you have to get wet to adjust it Knobs go on the other side folks Ok it is a great plece with alot of p[otential But very little true empathy for anyone who cant muster it up at the first inning They did help When I called and said I cannotm hike that hill in the dark one more time they made an exception to the room Guys offer room service for an extra fee Talk to people before booking Please let them know what they are in for Note If you have any weakness or disability ar all makwe sure where they are putting you and what they offer Do not book blinded by the reviews

No hay otro hotel en Costa Rica que te ofrezca tanta serenidad como la del Retreat. Si están buscando desconectarse este es el lugar indicado.. lo único que mejoraría es la variedad de comidas e incluir la proteína en el precio, en mi caso pagué un pase del día que incluía un solo plato de comida vegetariano y tuve que pagar adicional por la proteína.. lo cual me parece que pudo estar incluido.

Fue una experiencia inolvidable. Es la segunda vez que venimos y no nos cansamos. La comida, las instalaciones, la caminata que nos dimos, lo que transmite el hotel con su paz y tranquilidad junto con un personal que nos trató como si fuéramos familia. Definitivamente volveremos.

Un lugar precioso con atención inigualable. Paz, silencio, salud, montaña, naturaleza y descanso son parte de las cosas que se viven acá. La comida es sana y deliciosa. No necesitas viajar mucho para llegar

My daughter and I spent five days at the retreat and enjoyed so many aspects of our stay. What stood out most were: Atmosphere: a stunning property set in nature, with spectacular views from every vantage point and cozy, uncrowded spaces to curl up in. Food (and coffee and juices and mocktails): flavourful, clean, sustainably sourced, and impressively varied. Staff: warm, service-oriented, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly locals. A special shout-out to Carlos and Marianna for the amazing sound healing, hikes, and meditation; Lucia and Vanessa in the spa; Sergio, Jonathan, Miguel, and Je Je in the dining area; and the wonderful front-desk team—especially Monica and both Alejandros. Apologies if I’ve missed anyone whose name I’ve forgotten! P.S. Lord, Felipe, and the other transient wildlife added to the fun. Two things that would improve the stay: Room quality: The Queen Rooms near the dining area boast the best views, but they’re a little tired and not as polished as shown in the materials. Compared to the newer accommodations—which are incredible—these rooms feel dated. Some renovating would go a long way, especially in the bathrooms, which feel cramped and offer very little storage. Accessibility: The accessibility of the property is quite limited. On damp days, the road from Santosha to the spa and dining areas becomes too steep and slippery to walk safely. Adding stairs would make a tremendous difference, as many guests prefer walking over waiting for an hourly shuttle and want to remain active.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our 15th anniversary Oct. 20th thru the 24th. The hospitality, service, and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. There are so many great aspects to this resort, from the spa, to the pools, to the location. It checks all of the boxes. What stood out the most was the food. The quality of ingredients, creativity, presentation, flavor, and nutritional value offered is outstanding. We also did the Mystique dinner. Altogether this was by far the best culinary experience we've ever had. The spa and spa services were idyllic. The Yoga classes and sound bath meditations were excellent. Getting some personal trainer help from Carlos in the gym was very helpful and fun. If you're looking for a place to re-center and focus on some personal wellness this is a great place to do it.

Starting back in 2019, I have visited this retreat once a year. It is four days of reset, eating healthy and yoga. I try to schedule my visits around when Sophia Rand is the yoga instructor. Her yoga classes make for an incredible experience. You must book spa treatments. One of my favorite spas with the spectacular views. I look forward to returning next year!
