Proximity to the place of official business

This hotel is located in the very exclusive Melrose Arch neighborhood, with plenty of shopping and dining options walkable within the confinement of the secured gated roads. Please still exercise caution as violent crime still does occur inside these secured areas, dont let your guard down and never walk alone as a tourist. Hotel itself is a very modern and comfortable hotel featuring a large welcoming lobby and multiple dining and bar areas. Rooms themselves are large and well kept. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms nicely appointed. Having stayed here multiple times, I always have a nice stay. My last stay my heat did not work in my room and maintenance came to look at circuitry behind wall, it did not fix it and a space heater was brought up to me but unfortunately kept stopping and starting making it impossible to sleep and by 3am, instead of being offered a new room, I had to practically beg to switch rooms, and finally got someone to help me move. Would have expected the night shift to follow up with their management team for the morning to offer some type of compensation, but that never happened, and I just let it go. This is an excellent choice when staying in Johannesburg, I would still highly recommend it.

Stayed here for two nights before going on safari. It was a nice room, however, attached to this property is the Executive suites and for the same cost you can get a bigger room and an in room washer and dryer so check availability. We got an amazing welcome by the front desk staff before they even knew that we were platinum elite members. Everyone was really professional and helpful. Let’s talk M Club. Had so much potential but couldn’t get it together. They were never ready to open. The coffee machine would not be ready first thing in the morning, the cream was never filled up, stirrers not available. COME ON! What do most people want at 6:30AM? Coffee! No silver ware or cups on tables on time. There were nice choices for breakfast but food didn’t get put out on time, ever. For those of us who want to get out early to see the city, it was frustrating. The wine in the evening was delicious with lots of options. Also, very substantial food choices in the evening. I would stay here again, for sure, but the property needs to up its game in the lounge and it would be so easy to correct these few things!

It is a modern hotel with spacious rooms and very comfortable beds. The area is well protected and great for shopping, dining etc. Would absolutely stay there again. Air condition was really quiet, an absolute advantage. Food was also great and the breakfast service is highly recommended.

O hotel é nota 1.000. Quartos super confortáveis, café da manhã, piscina e academia ótimos. Tem um bar lounge ótimo com drinks e snacks. Restaurante Key Stone é ótimo, funcionários muito atenciosos e prestativos. A localização é perfeita. Há vários restaurantes e opções de compras ao lado. A região é extremamente segura, ideal para quem quer paz e segurança.

On Saturday 16 Dec 2023 my entire family decided to go to The Marriot for breakfast and we planned on using our Prokard to qualify for their dining discount. We have been to the Marriot on numerous occasions over the last 4 years and we had no problems using our Prokard and getting the applicable dining discount. Tembi the restaurant manager stopped us all at the entrance of the restaurant and was adamant that we couldn't use our prokard ....then it was an excuse that there were no tables available when there were plenty available. Her attitude was disgusting and made excuse after excuse......another being that The Marriot is a new hotel and that they were still finding their feet which was not true. My family was so upset with the backwards and forward arguing that we did not enjoy our breakfast which was meant to be a family outing. I also overheard other guests complaining about not being able to use the Prokard ......she also told us that it cannot be used over the holidays.......she made so many contradictory excuses. I had called on the Monday before (11 Dec ) and spoke to Daniel ( the services manager ) and he confirmed that all the benefits for dining is as per all Marriot hotels and that we are welcome to come on the Saturday. I spoke to Daniel on Monday ( 18 Dec) to complain of what we experienced on Saturday and he passed it onto Razeen ( another manager) who didn't have the decency to call me with an apology and confirm what the rules are wrt Prokard benefits. My advice to Prokard members ......keep away from The Marriot as they are not so professional and sophisticated as they profess to be and rather patronize the other Protea hotels. I stay here quite a bit and there is always an issue with the room/hotel. Nice hotel and very friendly staff but the operations and equipment are faulty. I can only receive 4 of 36 TV channels and after 4 maintenance personnel promised to fix it I was told it is an IT issue and can be fixed Monday…it’s Friday night and no offer of a different room. There is a lack of communications between maintenance and the front desk and because of that I felt like I was being lied to. Asked for wake up call but did not receive one. After a phone check with front desk I was told they can not ring my room because its always busy. Also I have a very nice Espresso machine but it only drips coffee at about 10 drips/minute. For a Marriott I expect better.
