The Westin Ka'Anapali Ocean Resort Villas North

I've read all the bad reviews before booking and my husband and I thought they may be exaggerated. We were WRONG. It is that terrible! Our unit 7173 was infested with cockroaches. The roaches were coming from behind the microwave oven, from the power outlet and also roaches droppings in silverware drawer. Roaches were also crawling inside the coffee maker. We ate from the mini kitchen a couple of nights and wanted to vomit. Thankfully, we didn't get sick. My advice is DO NOT USE the kitchen without fully inspecting all drawers and appliances.

If you are looking for a comfortable, spacious room with an at-home feel and full kitchenette options and a great on-the-beach option, look no further! ! I provide honest reviews as someone from the middle-class (black heterosexual couple) who only stays in 4 star hotels. SERVICE: Great service! Everyone was welcoming, helpful and available when needed. We missed an entire night due to a cancelled flight and they worked with us. Check in was easy, even though busy at time of checkin. We were always accommodated as needed. ROOM: We booked the "Islandview Studio Premium Villa" and loved it! From the moment we booked until after we left, we enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and beautiful, clean, practical. You can cook in the units as well as do your laundry there, they even included laundry soap- incredible and we used a couple times during our stay. We loved the large jet tub as well and the provided soap/shampoo/conditioner. The bed was very comfortable, as were the linens. The patio was beautiful and our room overlooked the children's pool but you could still still the ocean and palm trees. It was always quiet. Wifi always worked. AMENITIES/GROUNDS: Great amenities, pools (adults & kids in separate sides/areas), whirlpool, snorkeling, fitness center, cultural center, activities & shows like hula dancing, craft fairs, etc and the Spa! We loved the on-site restaurant "Pailolo Grill & Bar" and ate there almost daily. While we came during the very busy season (Feb/March), things were crowded but still fun. They also have a full service on-site market store with all the basic, like a Target Express. The only thing that could use improvement is the hallway walls in some areas have been dinged/scratches and could use some paint. Otherwise, beautiful! LOCATION: Absolute perfection. Close enough to everything but far away for a peaceful escape. Also, they have the best beach area along Lahaina. PARKING: Always available and ample parking. Overall- highly recommend and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We loved our stay and hope to come again in the future. We do NOT understand the negative reviews.

My family and I stayed at the Resort during the last week of May 2023 and had a wonderful time there. It's been more than 10 years since we were in Maui. The ocean-front view was breath-taking. The room looked quite new and was well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you Westin for a wonderful experience. We will be back.

First, they made us wait 5 hours for a room even thought they knew we were arriving early and we communicated it prior to arrival. Then, my toddler picks up a large, gross toenail from the floor. Finally, we wake up to realize that the bed sheets have stains (yes, plural) that we did not make. I went to speak to the concierge about this because it was barely our first day there and this was already our experience and Giselle was the least caring, most dismissive concierge. After expressing my frustration, she purposely made it a point to be even more curt and unhelpful. Believe it or not, there didn’t seem to be a single manager in this place because they made me wait TWO hours to speak to someone about this. Disgusting place, rude staff. Never going back. What a waste of money. Too bad they don’t do half star reviews.

The facility was beautiful, very crowded. The food was crap! The only good food I had was when I went off site. I was looking forward to resting and relaxing instead I was concerned how I was going to feed a growing 17 year old. Everything I bought at the facility was so expensive, the 17 year old had a cough, it cost $40 for a small bottle of cough syrup!

This is just the first night when we arrived. When I took a shower the soap dispensers were empty. When using the elevators, the hand sanitizer dispenser was empty, and a few of the beach chairs were broken.

Family friendly and convenient

This place has gone downhill since 2016. Room is highly dated. Concierge only available in main lobby and not at rest of the desks all over the complex. Room not properly cleaned when we arrived had to have them redo some items. Towels are mostly dirty some with lipstick stains on them when you get new ones. Cleaning of room is supposed to be daily but when you call and ask about it they always say we are not on cleaning schedule. The next day we are on the schedule for every day, and then again not on the schedule. For over $600 per night this is not worth the money, Taxes alone are over $100 plus the resort fee. Restaurant staff is friendly, but menus at only two places open are the exact same and highly overpriced. Food is actually boring after the first day. They lack most top shelf liquor at the bars. The restaurant/bar was closed for 2 days without any notice to guests other than a small handwritten note on the restaurant entry. The grocery stores are almost triple priced compared to anywhere else on the island. One store is supposed to be larger in the south building yet its about the same as the north side store with same things for sale at the high prices. They have palapas which fill up fast each day, The cabanas both at the pool and the beach are priced in a totally absurd way. Even 4 seasons prices are lower than these cabanas which are nothing but small areas with a couch vs. pool chairs. If you happen to have your stuff on the pool chairs, they will remove after an hour t if you decide to hang out in the water and not your chair. Pools are not the cleanest since they don't do a good job of cleaning them during the day. To get pool and beach towels you have to have a card from the front desk. Attendants really don't seem to like their job when handing out towels or collecting them. Wait they don't collect them; they tell you to throw them in the bins yourself while giving your card back first. Parking is $25 per day plus tax. Used to be free. I guess they want to make more money somehow. Overall, not a good place to visit compared to years ago.
