Très belle demeure à l extérieur de Kandy Les jardins sont très beaux et la piscine magnifique Les repas sont bons et copieux Le service efficace mais parfois un peu brouillon Nous avions une chambre au rdc avec un petit extérieur La chambre était très sombre avec un plafond très bas, on rentre pars la salle de bain et toilettes qui ne sont pas séparés de la chambre Vraiment très déçue car on décrit des chambres avec un lit à baldaquin, spacieuse … la rien de tout cela.. beaucoup de moustiques aussi et pas d eau chaude pour prendre une douche Nous ne sommes restés qu une nuit, certainement le moins bel hôtel de tout notre séjour mais certainement avec une autre chambre le sentiment aurait été très différent

This hotel was one of our favourites on our tour of Sri Lanka, we stayed for 2 nights. The room was beautiful with its own veranda we ate breakfast on. The four poster bed in the colonial setting was such a nice environment and were the gardens and pool. Huge fruit bats fly around the garden as you have a drink and it’s all so lovely. We do have one criticism and that is the surprise of the bill at the end. We booked Bed and Breakfast and took advantage of the set dinner menu, with drinks on top of that and then extras the bill was the same cost as one night B&B. When we looked closer at the bill it turned out what we thought were complimentary items (for example cashew nuts in a bowl that came with drinks) were in fact $8, they were brought to us with drinks and without asking so we assumed like with most places they were complimentary and when asked if we wanted some more said yes…there is nowhere it states a price for them and the staff didn’t mention a cost so $16 for nuts was frankly a shock! It’s a beautiful place to stay, just be careful what you agree to!

Realmente maravilloso. Todo cuidado al detalle. Una villa preciosa, estilo colonial inglés con rincones con mucho encanto. Estuvimos una única noche, lástima, una pena no poder disfrutar del hotel varias semanas. Pudimos disfrutar de la piscina y de sus jardines brevemente, suficiente para sumergirse en un clima de paz y tranquilidad. Teníamos régimen de media pensión, desayuno y cena incluido. La comida es muy buena, incluso preguntamos por las recetas de los platos. El desayuno lo sirvieron en nuestra terraza, un sitio muy bonito rodeado de árboles que parecía una película. En cuanto al personal, muy atentos y educados, pendientes de nosotros en todo momento. El director del hotel es encantador, siempre con una sonrisa. 100% recomendable. Volveré!!

Colonial style hotel that offers very traditional rooms in a lovely setting. Pool, rooms, common areas, grounds etc all excellent. Exactly what we feel most comfortable with. We were lucky to get an upgrade to a slightly larger room with separate seating area on the upper floor which was a lovely gesture. Service excellent. The allocated butler was very friendly, professional and was very accommodating. I saw other reviews commenting on the food menu and cost. Lovely lunch menu. Very tasty with good portion size. Dinner menu had two starter options and three main to choose from. We had no issue in selecting and found the quality to be truly excellent. Very high standard. I saw other reviewers commenting on the price of food and drink. I agree it is high but should not come as a surprise given the cost of the rooms. If you are prepared to pay the room rate for this unique offering then you need to come ready to spend on the food and drink. Take on the whole experience, that is what holidays are for. One area for improvement which is very minor. The pool is amazing but needs a little love. Walls need a clean. The algae does come off, I tried. Also get the infinity working!! The pool is an asset so milk it.

My spouse and I spent two delightful nights at The Kandy House in Kandy, Sri Lanka, where the blend of beautifully maintained colonial architecture and luxurious grounds immediately caught our attention. Pradeep's attentive service stood out, ensuring our stay was comfortable and memorable. The exceptional Sri Lankan cuisine offered an authentic taste of the local culture, while our room was spacious and elegant.

Lovely location but meals and drinks very expensive and the restaurant menu was far too limited. Disappointed that our room did not have tea/coffee making facilities or a loo roll holder. The staff were always most helpful and the overall ambience is memorable.

An absolutely lovely hotel packed with old world charm. In the colonial style and old but every comfort and care taken. Staff and restaurant marvellous. The room and bed were comfortable the gardens and pool charming. So peaceful and carefully managed. Absolutely loved the Kandy house.

This is a peaceful colonial house away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy. The rooms are spacious and you have a veranda for each room to relax on. You have your own butler (very pleasant) who was sometimes a little too attentive for our liking. We were also surprised that other than the shampoo/shower gel in the bathroom we didn’t have any of the usual sundries like shower cap etc. We were there in a torrential downpour which lasted most of the late afternoon and evening. The roof over our son’s bed leaked quite badly and they had to move the bed to prevent it totally saturating the it. Another room had 6 different leaks and that couple eventually were given another room. We felt they didn’t handle our situation particularly well. It took a while for them to check the room and maybe we should have been offered another room given the leak. The place wasn’t full. The food is delicious and it’s served outside on the covered veranda in a pleasant environment. Because of the rain we had to have drinks inside which again is in a lovely setting. We did think the food was slightly more expensive here than other places we stayed in. The deep swimming pool is set in the gardens overlooking a paddy field and has in beautiful views. However although the water seemed clean, the bottom of the pool did look dirty. Also, beware, because it had rained there were leeches in the grass and my son had one attach on his hand and we found others on our feet. We did enjoy our stay but compared to the rest of our hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka we felt It just seemed a bit tired.
