喬貝野生動物園小屋(Chobe Safari Lodges)

De locatie tov het safaripark is top. Slechts 6 minuten rijden. Verder is de service fan-tas-tisch! Iedereen groet je netjes, zelfs als je vraagt om je (wegwerp) leesbril te repareren (moest even gelijmd worden, regelen ze dat! Niks is teveel èn iedereen wil je graag helpen. Eten is prima. Verwacht geen sterren maaltijd(en). Verder was onze locatie (de luxe kamer, apart huisje aan de rivier) erg schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien!

A fantastic place to stay, the room was comfortable, clean, powerful shower , comfortable bed and air conditioning worked perfectly. There's a fridge in the room , tea and coffee making facilities. The food was good particularly the breakfast. There's a great bar down by the river , great to watch the sun go down drinking a gin and tonic , be careful crocodiles lurk along the waters edge. Boat trips along the river are worth doing, huge numbers of Elephants, hippos and the bird life is superb.

We stayed here for 3 nights in between camping trips into the bush. It was a good place to relax and recharge after roughing it in tents. The location on the river is nice and provides good views, particularly of the sunset. We did one river cruise which was nice although that section of river was quite crowded with other tour boats. There is a good amount of wildlife in the area, including lots of warthogs and monkeys on the grounds of the hotel. Wi-fi was decent. Rooms were good, also with nice river views. A solid value.

We were able to arrive day of to book in to a two night camping spot. This was great for a jumping off point of booking Chobe River cruise and a day trip to Victoria Falls. Camping for two nights was a total of $32 - Great price, location and electric hookups. You can access the FREE wifi at the lodge common area. It was a good place to lay our heads for the night. They have an activity booking agent on-sight. The cost of the onsite Chobe River Cruises for two people + park fees was $92 this does not include any drinks or snacks on a three hour sunset cruise. It was a high price for not including drinks and snacks. The animal viewing was good, however and also there are many boats on the river and you have other guests that do not understand animal viewing. In all, we wish we booked with another company that was more respectful to the animals on viewing them in the wild.

Chobe Safari Lodge was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic safari experience. This lodge operates as a run down city hotel so if you want a personalized, intimate, bush experience, there are many alternatives to CSL. We were originally suppose to stay in another lodge in Chobe but my travel agent ended up making this booking last minute, due to unavailability elsewhere, and I regret not reading the details more carefully. Pros - strong water pressure - Good cleaning service - compliments to Hilda - Large buffet selection for breakfast and lunch dinner - 2 complimentary waters provided daily by housekeeping Cons - No beverages are included in the “all inclusive” package - Rooms are dated and poorly maintained. CSL’s “claim to fame” is that it’s the oldest lodge in Chobe…it shows! - 30min wait just to book activities - Game drives are uncomfortable - they pack the vehicles with as many passengers that fit while asking you to wear a mask everywhere else - Game drives are time blocked down to the minute - the experience was very rushed and touristy, unlike our experience in Leroo La Tau and Camp Xakanaka. - Poorly trained food staff - I would still be chewing and they would be hovering to take the plates away. - Other than the cleaning staff, none of the employees were warm or welcoming, especially in the reception area and activities center. They looked miserable and I wonder how bad their working conditions must be.

We spent two night in the chine safari lodge - safari room, river view . The view is beautiful and there are improvements ongoing on the bulging infrastructure , that is good. Anyway, me an my girlfriend were unlucky . The first night we did not sleep due to wired rumore on the countertop (a potential lock animals, could happens). Indeed, rooms are not clean as they should be, see pictures below at the entrance . Not suggested; not needed to pay this lodge prices. For the same standard and quality you can definitely choose places with lower prices.

This is a large lodge set at the Chobe river and offers a fantastic river boat tour, with an exceptional guide. That was the highlight for us, to see the stunning beauty and wildlife of the park (hippos, elephants, Cape buffalo, crocodiles, many beautiful birds). The food was only ok, good servers. Why we can't rank this higher is the lack of privacy we had, with very poor front and activity desk service. We were put in a building where they were rethatching the roof so there were workers everyone, including sitting on on deck in front of our bed, talking loudly in the corridors, etc. This made no sense as this is a big place and it was not busy when we were there. For service: After a long drive we were hungry and it was hot. We were pressured to go to the activity desk, and had to really push back to say 'no, we are hungry and want lunch'. Remember we are on vacation! Then we were pressured to take the boat tour just as a thunder storm (a big one with lightening) was about to break, and told incorrectly by the activity desk staff that more animals are seen in the middle of the day and there are no mosquitos (neither true)! For the morning game tour, we waited in the jeep for 45 minutes (remember this was at 5:45am) for them to sort out the paperwork. So, by the time we left we lost a good part of our drive. The front desk were also not helpful when my tour organiser sent our PCR certificate to be printed and only after a long time of forcing them to look, found it. The final morning, four people were there at check out but only one was supposedly able to help, and they did not tell us when our ride had arrived. If you can find another place, I would advise doing so. But if you are here, just know you need a bit of extra time to deal with the poor management.

Having survived the overly complicated exit from South Africa and entry to Zimbabwe payment of $70 for a visa. Then the charisma bypass immigration official at the Botswana border. Then a ritual all shoes out of your case to sheep dip them to prevent importing foot and mouth. We arrive at this lodge hotel. In fact it is two hotels that are joined and in reality it is one complex. The room was well appointed and spacious. Safe and tea and coffee facilities but no fridge! We asked at reception about why no fridge he said give me a short while. One was delivered. The buffet breakfast and buffet dinner were of good quality. Our room hade no view but was well equipped once the fridge was delivered. There is plenty of wildlife in the area so keep your doors closed.

An excellent place to stay for a week taking the game drives and river trips. Guides knowledgable and helpful. The setting on the Chobi river is superb. Lots of wildlife in the grounds. Safari rooms recently refurbished and are lovely. Breakfasts very good lots of choice, evening meals also buffet plenty of choice..
