We got a really good rate through the Trip website. Kelsey on reception changed our room because there was no bath in the first room. The staff at the hotel were very smartly dressed. The food at breakfast was excellent. We are two nights in Macleod. Again the food was excellent. We would recommend this hotel. The only negative was if you hadn’t booked a spa break you had to pay £30 each to use the pool.

Came for the spa for the day as a wedding anniversary gift. Had brunch before and then had 2 hours in the spa. It was great and so relaxing, the different saunas were brilliant and steam room too! Outside hot tubs brilliant! Only small thing was probably could have had staff round the spa more asking for drinks etc!

We have just returned from a long awaiting trip to this hotel, having caught an offer for Spa & Stay which included 2 hrs in the spa on arrival and check out days, a Yorkshire breakfast and free upgraded room. We opted for on of the newly refurbished; Dales Room, and also added Clay Pigeon Shooting on to our trip. We travelled up from Lincoln for the stay, and arrived around half hour early to our booked 12pm clay pigeon experience. The shooting lodge was very warm and cosy, also felt welcoming. This is used by guests and members, so all abilities/experience. Neither my wife nor I had ever done this before, nor visited the hotel or grounds. One thing that would have been helpful, would have been advising on attire/footwear at point of booking. Regardless of that, our instructor; Malcolm, was brilliant. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and informative. Put both my wife and I at ease and made the experience very enjoyable, I would recommend this highly. Once we finished this, we headed back (short drive of around 1 mile within the estate grounds) to the hotel. We were around 1hrs early for check in at this point and was told to come back at 3pm. We went into the bar for drink and waited. The bar was really nice, and had an open fire (as did the shooting lodge), the staff were pleasant and friendly also. We decided to have a ‘light bite’ whilst waiting so order ‘3 nibbles for £15’ - Pork Belly Bite, Crispy Beef and Bread and Dips. All 3 were absolutely amazing!! We were booked in for our evening meal here which got me looking forward to that!! 3pm arrived and we checked in, we were room 24. The room was nice and had everything we needed. One minor but great touch was leaving some chocs/sweets and crisps with the drinks tray. Very small touch but others should follow! The room was very nice and had lots of very nice furnishings and they had clearly spent a lot of money on some of the items, but the attention to detail was not there. Lots of ‘snagging’ items have been over looked, making good following obvious defects/mistakes had also not been completed. This might not matter to a lot of people but is a real bug bearer of mine. The room also lacked a functional mirror above the dresser and no full length mirror at all. I also found the acoustics between rooms and corridors very very poor and was quite noisy at night and in the morning. We got sorted and was about to head to the spa, when looking for our robes there wasn’t any in our room. We went down to reception and asked if we needed any prior to heading the spa and was told not. The spa staff then asked if we brought our robes, but handed us some without fuss. The spa was small but nice enough. 2 hrs is about the right amount of time for the size, without trea**ents. I also like the ability to purchase drinks whilst in there, although staff should perhaps push this a little more. On to the evening meal - this was incredibly disappointing. We stayed as mother and daughter for a birthday celebration and all I can say is we were very disappointed. The dales room we booked was gorgeous but little sleep was had due to the bright green light situated near the door lighting up the room all night! And the workmen fitting carpets in the room above from 8am. The spa featured workmen too along with dirty glasses everywhere, drunken guests, unprofessional staff and a general grubby feel. I’m not sure how it’s an award winning spa.. The restaurants were the saving grace. These were cosy, well staffed and the food was excellent. On check out we raised our concerns with reception and asked if there was a formal complaints procedure.. she apologised and said there was nothing she could do other than pass on our comments. I have since emailed the hotel but to no avail. Very poor all round. We will not be returning and would urge people to avoid.

Great hotel! Fantastic facilities the spa is amazing! Housekeeping staff are friendly they make you feel very welcome! I met the housekeeping manager who went above and beyond ! A lovely lady! The restaurant staff were very professional!food faultless

Second overnight stay. Absolutely wonderful. Gorgeous room with balcony overlooking glorious view. Relaxing beautiful spa. Lovely restaurant. Great bar with roaring fire. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

The hotel was great but the ******* web site stated whilst staying we would have accto the pool. I then had to pay £60 extra for this and i think ******* has miss led me. Regards Paul nutter

The fact I’d paid £204 per night only to be told we had to pay £40 per head for 2 hours use of pool!! This is a complete rip off!

We have always nipped to the coniston for a quick night away! Close to home fab spa, feels like you’re miles away from home! Last time I stayed with mother in law and had a few problems with house keeping mentioned it to staff, thought be ok as Been a couple of months saw a deal to up grade to stay with hubby went along lovely relaxing spa as always I’m soo glad we didn’t pay for the upgrade as so disappointing with the room.. to say you can get a good standard hotel at a better quality is unreal!! An upgraded deluxe room should be deluxe I can’t see how.. ? They was marks all over the head board and the house keeper hadn’t checked the bedding as big rips in the duvet cover, not just 1, mold all by the door and onto the Lino. No one especially guests should breathe in mold spores!! I did do an on line review from the hotel with no response.. but to me it’s not 4 star it’s at best 2 stars for its rooms ! For how expensive it is! The evening meal was nice and the young gentleman was a pleasure to have excellent service from him .
