Ich war Anfang August 2024 mit Freunden für ein paar Tage hier. Wir wurden freundlich Empfangen, mein Zimmer war sauber, gemütlich, leider nur mit Ausblick auf die Nachbarshecke, aber ich war auch nur zum Schlafen hier. Gutes Frühstück, ruhige Lage am Ortsrand. Komme gerne wieder.

Abbiamo soggiornato 5 notti presso la Karrawa Guesthouse, in un gruppo di 9 amici. Fyona è stata una padrona di casa eccezionale, gentile, sorridente, sempre pronta a rispondere alle esigenze dei suoi ospiti. Le camere erano confortevoli, pulite, la nostra aveva un bagno enorme con una super doccia. Colazione top, con scelte continentali, porridge e l'immancabile e molto apprezzata Scottish Breakfast. La guesthouse si trova a circa 20 minuti a piedi dal centro di Kirkwall, in posizione tranquilla e silenziosa, ma per noi non è mai stato un problema raggiungerlo, anzi, ci siamo fatte delle belle passeggiate per andare a cena e tornare a casa la sera! Abbiamo fatto una bellissima escursione sull'isola di Hoy e Fyona è stata così gentile da prepararci un packed lunch per fare un bel picnic sulle scogliere! Consiglio ad occhi chiusi Karrawa, e se tornerò a Kirkwall soggiornerò sicurarmente di nuovo qui!

This is a very clean establishment with a warm and welcoming hostess. The room and bathroom we stayed in (a double) was large and manageable. Breakfast included made to order option (selected the night prior) and was delicious. We had to leave very early in the morning and cold cereals, etc were available for us, but no coffee or tea- although they are available in your room (instant coffee). Getting to town involves a cab ride - it is all downhill getting there, but all uphill getting back. We went to a local hotel for a dinner (10 minute walk) and took a taxi back with another couple - the walk was nice but up and down hill. We would stay here again.

The accommodation was great, but the owners were the ones that really made our stay exceptional. They were always available, friendly and super helpful. We got a lot of information about Kirkwall and Orkney chatting to them. When we mentioned that we're going to leave early to catch the ferry, they prepared breakfast to go for us. The location is great - far enough from the "centre" to be quiet, while still being within walking distance. There is enough parking available for all guests. The rooms were cozy and we slept perfectly. Overall a wonderful experience and we'd definitely recommend it!

Lovely clean B&B, spotless throughout. Comfortable room with everything that you need. Good breakfast in a light & airy room. Very friendly & accommodating staff.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights on our 17 day stay in Scotland that was booked with Nordic Visitor. It was very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Fiona was so very kind. Breakfast was great, and we very much enjoyed the tea and cocoa in the rooms. If we ever go back we will most definitely reach out to them.

Such a perfect stay! Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was excellent. Everything was clean and tidy throughout the guesthouse. It had a homely but also professional feel. They clearly have a lot of pride over the guesthouse and genuinely want their guests to have a great stay. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. One morning we were out early before the cooked breakfasts were served, but it didn't matter as there were plenty of cereals, fruit, yogurts, drinks, etc. to choose from. The guesthouse is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. It's about a 20 minute walk into the town centre. Fyona and Colin were wonderful and very friendly hosts who were happy to help. Would absolutely stay here again.

My travel mate and I had unit 4 at the top of the stairs. We had two twin beds and a lovely en suite. Our room had a tea kettle and a coffee pot. Plugs were located in convenient spots. The mattresses were heavenly after our long walkabouts. The entire establishment was very clean and well maintained. Fiona, the hostess, issued us breakfast order forms each evening and breakfast was cooked to order. We experienced our first piece of haggis at Fiona’s and it was lovely. The b&b had been booked by our tour group The Highland Explorer / Haggis Adventures / Radical Travel. It was delightful.

We stayed at the Karrawa Guest house for 2 nights in early April 2025. Hosts (Colin & Fyona) were very helpful and friendly. Fyona provided wonderful warm porridge for breakfast. Colin also owns a painting company, so the room was very clean and nicely decorated. There is plenty of off-street parking available on-site. While Karrawa has a convenient suburban location, it is only a pleasant 20 minute walk to downtown restaurants.

Absolutely beautiful B&B , very spacious rooms and the biggest shower EVER! The beds are so comfy... Best nights sleep after an amazing few days on Orkney. Fyona was a delight! And our yummy breakfast set us up for the day! Can't wait to be back!!

A great wee guest house in Kirkwall close to local restaurants and tourist spots. Fyona and Colin are great hosts who are friendly and happy to chat and tell you about these amazing islands, the beds are comfy and it's a very quiet area. We are already talking about going back up and will rebook back at Karrawa if it's available

Fiona (and Colin) were brilliant, thoughtful hosts. The breakfasts are fresh and cooked to order, along with a wide selection of cereals and juices. Our room was spotless and roomy, with a big closet for hanging up rain-dampened clothes. It’s a 20-minute walk to the centre of Kirkwall, or a 6£ cab ride if you’re coming back from the pubs. Lovely, quiet, and very good value, with ample parking on the property.

By far the best stay on our recent trip to Scotland. We had a two night stay at the Karrawa Guest House and it was such a good experience, we were really sorry to leave. The overall quality was by far the best among our various stops on a two week trip through Scotland and Orkney. The breakfast room was amazingly good! The family who runs this guest house were kind and accommodating and really made us look forward to another trip to Orkney.

Coziest, nicest hotel of our whole holiday! Beautifully decorated rooms, extremely clean, modern and spacious bathrooms. What was most memorable was the sweet, caring and most attentive staff. And the breakfast was just exceptional!!
