瑪塔拉卡北極光旅舍(Mattarahkka Northern Light Lodge)

Lodge a circa 5 km da Kiruna in direzione Narvik, con 7 camere accoglienti con soppalco, ha pienamente soddisfatto le nostre aspettative. Buona colazione e cene veramente interessanti di cui due su tre sere servite nel tepee Sami. Il Lodge offre anche in abbinamento al soggiorno delle attività gestite da Adventure Lapland quali Dog Sledge, uscite in motoslitta e caccia all'aurora boreale. Grazie a Fabio e Mikko per averci fatto sentire come a casa...della mamma. Ci torneremo di sicuro.

Le Mattarahkka est un lodge de 7 chambres doubles. Les chambres ne sont pas grandes mais fonctionnelles. Les lits sont très confortables. Il manque peut-être une armoire pour y ranger les habits - mais il n'y a pas vraiment de place pour en mettre une. La salle de bains privative est très petite mais il y a douche, wc et lavabo. C'est parfait ! Sur une mezzanine, il y a un petit coin salon - tv, avec possibilité de voir les aurores boréales (si on a de la chance !). En janvier, il faisait assez frais dans la chambre. Le petit déjeuner et le souper (si on prend cette option), sont pris dans une salle à manger juste à côté des chambres. Le petit déjeuner buffet est bon et chacun y trouve son bonheur. Les soupers sont faits avec des produits de la région. Il y a un plat et un dessert. Il faut compter environ CHF. 50.- par personne pour le souper, ce qui est assez cher. On peut se reposer dans un salon commun avec cheminée. C'est un endroit très agréable où l'on peut échanger avec d'autres vacanciers, prendre un verre, faire des jeux. Il vaut la peine d'essayer le jacuzzi sur le toit et si vous restez plusieurs jours et faites des activités au froid (organisées via le lodge), on vous prête tout le matériel chaud pour sortir (anorack super chaud, pantalon très chaud, bottes, gants, bonnet). Le personnel est très sympathique et ouvert à discuter de la région et des traditions locales. Je recommande vivement cet endroit !

A great experience. the guide was really great and very patient with us oldies. Good tour up to the top of a mountain with great views - and we saw moose! When we arrived back at the lodge we were given soup, bread and hot fruit drink (lingonberry?) The soup was a fish soup. They hadn't got the message that I was vegetarian, but within 5 minutes, a delicious veg soup arrived. My friends said the fish soup was fab too. Clothes were provided and were definitely warm enough. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing 2 nights at the lodge. We arrived early in the morning and our room was already ready so we could dump our suitcases and get their snow gear sorted ready for an excursion. We did 4 activities whilst at the lodge - the Sami experience, dinner in the tepee and northern lights chasing, snow mobile trip, and a hot tub hour. All the tours were brilliantly organised and run by happy, knowledgable, friendly people. We had a cloudy night for our northern lights chasing, but instead of doing nothing Adrian took us on an informative tour of Kiruna and explained about the iron ore mining and the town being relocated as a result. The food was lovely and I’d recommend the gin & tonics infused with hand picked berries and spruce by Barbara!!

Vi havde et super ophold, som heldigvis blev forlænget pga vores bil gik i stykker. Mikko og de ansatte er yderst service orienteret og åbne. Hver morgen kom vi ud til en lækker morgen buffet, selvom vi ofte sov for længe, holdte de buffet åben :). Vi var ude på snescooter sammen med Mikko, hvilket var meget spændende og sjovt. Hyggede og spiste først i teltet og fik en masse historier fortalt, hvorefter turen gik hen til et bjerg, hvor vi igen så nordlyset. Vi var også ude på hundeslæde, som var super sjovt og hyggeligt. Med mad ved at bål og en natur man ikke kan beskrive. Hundene var meget søde og klappe venlige. Vi fik set et vanvittig Nordlys show, som næsten himlen var et stort fyrværkeri. HELT VILDT!!!!! Alle billederne er taget med vores Iphones og mange af dem lige udenfor døren ved Northern Lights Lodge, så ingen bil behøves for at kunne se Nordlyset, hvis du bor her. Dette sted kan kun anbefales MEGET kraftigt at besøge. Vi kommer HELT sikkert tilbage til Mikko og co., når muligheden igen byder sig :)

It is a very small hotel (7rooms) and I would expect more familiar approach.. However my impression was unless you book all in package noone cares so much anymore.. At the checkout they wanted to add to the bill some beer and a bottle of wine i have never seen ... If you have no car there is no public transportation and a taxi would cost you around 25eur one way to the city.. Once all the rooms were occupied the water was hardly warm under the shower WiFi was very poor, especially in the room TV - a few channels Heating sometimes did not work properly (but they put additional electric heater in the rooms that helps) Quite loud in the rooms(ventilation) I have booked with them husky tour and got the confirmation for the pick up at 9.30. At 9. 00a guide arrived surprised i was not ready yet..

Amazing experience. We can’t recommend this place enough. Situated outside Kiruna, you can use their own ski’s for Nordic skiing, they also provide snow shoes and have snow mobiles. We booked two trips through them (Adventure Lapland) and couldn’t recommend them enough. Brilliant experiences. Skidoos with dinner in the teepee with home made soup and cake, and then a full on adventure in the snow, up and down mountains. Fabio was brilliant and so knowledgeable about the area. Mikko and his family, including Fabio are wonderful. We were treated as part of their family and offered cakes, sweets and were so welcomed. We wanted for nothing. Tea and coffee readily available along with chocolates! Breakfast was very good. Wonderful place to see the Northern Lights which we did on the first night! We also used the sauna and hot tub. Fantastic! We can’t fault this place at all. Brilliant value for money. A real homely vibe. Recommend without doubt staying here.
