We stayed at Karafuu for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we’ve ever made! We had a junior suite room and it was exactly like the photos. It was right on the beach with french doors looking out to the ocean. You could hear the waves from your room. It also had a lovely terrace to relax with a morning coffee. On our arrival the room was decorated for a honeymoon and we received a complimentary bottle of red wine and a fruit platter. The hotel restaurants had a massive variety of food and as vegetarians we had plenty of options to choose from. The main swimming pool and swim-up bar were amazing and we used quite a lot. Drinks were very tasty and you get to have a laugh with the bar tenders while they mix up your cocktail! The beach is beautiful! There’s no words to describe how pretty the beach is, white sand, crystal clear waters! We recommend wearing reef shoes as there’s quite a lot of sea urchins in the shallow parts but there is a path that leads further into the ocean where the clear bottom sand so you can stand freely. The entertainment was amazing. There is always something to do! The animators always have games planned and the evening entertainment is very fun and inclusive! Be expected to get up and dance! The staff were all incredible. Everybody is so friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you have the best time. They made our experience even more special. Thank you everybody for everything you did for us! We absolutely recommend Karafuu especially if you’re looking for a true African feel! Hakuna Matata!

From the reservation, arrival to departure, everything was perfectly organized. I can not thank the Management as well as the entire team for making sure we felt at home. The location is perfect, beach incredible, sunrise views magnificent, food menu exceptional, excursions as well as transfers were well organized and with a very professional time. I was very disappointed when I realized that the beach was not good. It was covered with kelp. Until 3 pm it was low tide and you can’t swim. After 3 pm the water comes back but it is too choppy for swimming and snorkeling. The water is full of kelp pieces. The ground under the water is uneven with sharp rocks and some sand. There are lots of spiky beach creatures and I need to see a doctor to get some of those splinters removed. If you come here bring swim shoes. The pools and general decor and atmosphere was nice. However this is not a five star resort. The electricity went out many times, wifi was poor , and the only towels in the room were gray old bath towels. Two per room. No hand towels. No shampoo. They had used little plastic shampoo bottles filled with a mystery liquid with no labels. No slippers or a robe provided like in real five star resorts. Bring everything with you. The town in 80- 90 min car ride away. The staff was all locals and there were many staff members who were just standing around. A teen boy took fruit from the buffet and called wild monkeys to come to eat. There were no “don’t feed animals signs”. A monkey came inside jumped on the buffet and took a bunch of bread. The staff did’t even remove the bread the monkey touched. I complained but they let the teen do his feeding activity every morning. Between 8- 9 pm the maids tried to enter my room every night to spray bug spray which I declined. They should ask before spraying. The resort is very remote with only one other resort nearby. It is probably because of the bad beach situation.
訪訪客First time in Zanzibar and Kilimani Kwetu Hotel was a great place to stay. Very chilled place and vide, with great food, service and rooms. Great location and most of all great hospitality and very welcoming. Thank you for the experience and memories!!!
This hotel is locally rated as 5*, but more a 3*. Obviously they can charge more tourist tax as a 5*. The room in the guest house was ok but the shower room very primitive. The choice of wine was very limited, and they frequently ran out. The selection of tea was very limited, we even had to resort to drinking our own from the UK as had non other than herbal. The swimming pool was not ideal, with steep step into and no rails to hang on to. Not ideal for the less mobile or children. Certainly would not walk out of the hotel grounds. The whole Island needs some serious work and we have visited Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa. I cannot recommend the Island in truth at this time.
訪訪客BEWARE!! Lets start with the good points: this hotel is amazing!! The facilities are the best we found in the area, the two pools are better than any of the other hotels, staff are generally amazing and very friendly and the food is incredible, and reasonably priced. The rooms / bungalows are cute and spacious enough for two people. I travelled with my friend, one of us had the main bed and the other had the sofa bed. The main bed is very hard so I preferred the sofa bed for this reason. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the whole hotel! The pool at the front of the hotel gets very hot during the day as it does not have the breeze from the beach, but is slightly quieter. The pool at the rear of the hotel, facing the beach is just beautiful. it slopes down like a beach so is deeper at the far end of each section and the infinity feature makes the water fall down the steps between the two levels of the pools....great photo opportunities. Now for the not so good points: the wifi and phone signal in general within the rooms is terrible, you will need to sit outside to maintain a good signal. It was hit and miss whether we would have working AC all day (especially in the evenings when we were getting ready to go for meals, or trying to sleep) as the power would fail. We were told this is due to the Government turning the electricity off; the hotel does have back up generators but I don't think the AC runs from these (I don't know how true this is, but we were told about the Government issue in multiple places). The main issue we had with this hotel was when we were trying to checkout. Thankfully we had hours to spare as we didn't have to leave until the middle of the night to get our flight so I tried to checkout around 9pm (leaving the hotel at 1:30am to go to the airport). During our stay we had eaten at the hotel restaurant, had drinks etc so we knew we would have some money to pay to settle the bill. However, the hotel tried to overcharge us by approximately $400. This included Government taxes (at $18.23 per night....which they later told our booking agent were only $2-$4 per night) and invoices for items we hadn't ordered. After having to get our booking agent involved at past 10pm on the evening, we finally got the issue resolved around midnight. However, I have a feeling we were not the first people they had tried this on and counted on us leaving our check out so late that we would have no choice but paid the bill. So whilst I recommend this hotel in general, please beware of the checkout and being over charged.
RrchallidayWe recently stayed for seven nights (myself and my two daughters - one adult and one child). Location is amazing - right on the beach with picture book views from the room and the balcony. The swimming pool was a welcome addition and the restaurant always delivered great Italian food. Breakfast was plentiful. On a few nights, we took a short walk along the beach to try out some of the other restaurants but nothing compared. The staff just couldn’t do enough and were very friendly. The resort is small (just 15 rooms) and is located at the quieter end of Jambiani so not too busy. Airport transfers worked perfectly (you have to request them in advance) and the hotel arranged some unforgettable custom day trips for us. The room was basic and quite small but more than adequate for what we needed. We were treated a few times to the colobus monkeys in the trees right next to our balcony and you can hear the gentle crashing of waves in the room. If I had to be picky - a fridge, kettle and safe in the room would have been useful. Otherwise no complaints and this is right up there as one of our favourite holidays ever.
訪訪客This hotel needs to seriously rethink itself, at least as as far as my experience is concerned. We had a six day stay, half board in a second floor room with a private pool. It certainly looks good on the outside and the pools and beach are wonderful, but… The pool is a gimmick, maybe fun for kids to splash around in but far to small for use by adults. The hotel decided to do some work on the roof over the terrace and pool while I was enjoying my book seated on the terrace. I had to flee as it rained muck and water from the intervention rendering the terrace and the pool unusable. I expected these to be cleaned once they had finished, but this did not happen and needed a trip to the front desk to resolve. The roof still leaks when it rains, so the terrace is basically unusable. In fact with one downpour the room was almost flooded as the drain was blocked and the water accumulated. Next day, the pool was still dirty. Then the air conditioning in our room decided to malfunction, very likely due to the episode of the previous day, pouring water over our open suitcase just underneath. OK, my fault for leaving it there, but we had to go find housekeeping and maintenance guy to fix and clean. The room itself while spacious, is not aging well. But while I have to admit, these are not daily occurrences, its pretty annoying especially when no apology was forthcoming. More frequent issues relate to the quasi inexistant internet, which when it did function was certainly not high speed. Also, the meals while adequate were not particularly appealing or varied. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our grilled seafood platter for lunch, which of course was outside our meal plan. The housekeeping and bar staff are all very pleasant but have a tendency to forget things. The nightly turn down service with the anti mosquito spray showed up too late for us each night, While the beach is a short walk away from the hotel, the path is littered with rubbish and shards from broken bottles. It must be said this land is not actually owned by the hotel, but it has to be crossed and best not bare footed. My last gripe relates to the 5% surcharge that they impose for payment by credit card…
What amazing holiday I had! Met some great people, had an amazing time and the safari in Selous was fantastic! The staff is amazing, friendly and very personal as they always remember what you say which I very much like and appreciate. Said, the guest relations man, I want to thank you so much for your help. You are amazing and I will definitely see you again as I will come back to this hotel. The hotel is very nice, jetty bar and the beach are beautiful and as I said, amazing staff working in the hotel and always there to help. Everyone is friendly and make you feel welcome. Thank you so much again and see you next time!
