Ryokan magnifique. Personnel très aimable et serviable. Jolie chambre de type traditionnelle avec tatami et futons. Sento disponible. Le Ryokan est beau, propre et silencieux. Le kaiseki est délicieux et délicat. J'y retournerais avec plaisir.

It was an amazing experience from arrival to departure We stayed as a family of 2+2 and had the dinner in the room Great food and service ! Breakfast was as well excellent Room was a great experience to enjoy the riokan tatami way! We really recommend the experience while in Kyoto!

After comparing many ryokans, we decided to stay here for 3 main reasons: first, the great location and proximity to all the attractions in central Kyoto; second, their guests have left very high reviews; and third, they offer a vegetarian kaiseki menu, which was hard for us to find. Overall, we had an awesome experience and I definitely recommended to those who are traveling with family and looking for a relaxing ryokan experience. For us, the highlight was definitely the food--both the dinners and breakfasts featured local Kyoto vegetables and ingredients. My husband had the regular, non-veg kaiseki, and he thought the quality of the seafood and fish was better than many of the upscale restaurants we have visited in Tokyo. *PS: they give lots of thoughtful amenities like face-wash sets and japanese snacks!

This place was awesome, don't bother looking anywhere else. Everything was organised and nothing felt rushed at all, it was all very relaxing. The facilities like the onsen were amazing and the meals were fantastic. The staff were all very friendly.

Le ryokan était très charmant, l'accueil et le service absolument sympathique et le petit déjeuner excellent. Nous avons tout apprécié sauf un bémol, pour de l'heure de check out a était très stricte. L'heure check de checkout est à 10h30, à 10h15 nous recevons un coup de fil de l'accueil pour rappel l'heure de checkout, à 10h33 nous recevons un nouveau coup de fil qu'il fallait qu'on quitte la chambre mais mon fils était au toilettes que je lui ai expliqué la raison et qu'on allait quitter dans 5mns, le monsieur nous disait qu'il devrait nous appliquer un supplément de checkout jusqu'à 10h40 si on ne quittait pas à l'heure. J'ai du précipité mon fils et quitter la chambre immédiatement pour ne pas payer du supplément. Cela nous avait laissé une amertume notre séjour à ce lieu, c'est dommage.

We had a great stay at Watazen. The service was exceptional. It was comfortable and relaxing. The kaiseki dinner was beautiful! We were stuffed by the end, but the food was all well worth it. The traditional atmosphere was a rare and unique experience.
