Great B&B. Perfect location, excellent value. Breakfast very good. Also great for single travellers - very reasonable rates. Disc parking on road allows you to unload bags - then plenty of local car parks within walking distance. Highly recommended as a base to explore the Lakes.

Without hesitation, if you are visiting Ambleside then look no further than thorneyfield. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well kept. Breakfast is homemade and very very good. But what tops it is the hospitality of Andrew and Carole, who really go above and beyond. Highly recommend!l

Andrew & Carole are a welcoming couple who run an excellent B&B on the main Northbound road through Ambleside, although traffic noise is not generally a problem overnight. I stayed in one of the single rooms, which has its own bathroom across the landing. The bed was comfy, and there's a reasonable amount of storage space. The full English breakfast is excellent, and there is a small fridge in each room; fresh milk is provided for tea/coffee (and in hot weather it's useful for keeping picnic essentials and fruit safe, too). Parking is possible using a loaned permit at the main car park, a few hundred yards North. Thee are many eating options nearby. The Windermere lake steamers at Waterhead are about 20 minutes' walk away. Highly recommended,

Lighted on by chance, this place proved to be a gem. Cental position, spotless rooms and facilities, a great place for a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and showed high quality of ingredients. The owners were very helpful and amenable and made you very welcome. What more could you ask.....

Just spent a wonderful couple of days at Thorneyfield with my teens. Absolutely amazing breakfast; high quality produce. Rooms are large, plenty of room for belongings, all fairtrade/locally produced shower gels etc and beds super comfy. Andrew and Carole make you feel like family. Thank you so much. We will be back :-)

Had a wonderful stay travelling with work, lovely owners made to feel very welcome, breakfasts were amazing very good start for each day. Would definitely recommend for anyone travelling to Ambleside for a few days, thank you to Andrew and Carol for everything during my stay

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thorneyfield Guesthouse. The rooms were very clean with all the amenities you would expect from a decent guesthouse and there was always hot water for showers etc. The breakfast was amazing and the unlimited refills of coffee and toast was a really nice touch. The owners are nice and helpful, we arrived about 3 hours before check in time but they were happy to provide us with the car park passes we requested when we booked our rooms so we were able to park the cars and enjoy Ambleside. This is a great value B&B and we would all definitely stay again.
