羅塞莊園酒店(Rothay Manor Hotel)

A classy gem in the heart of the Lake District, everything about this hotel is beautiful and good quality, from the rooms, amenities and menu. I highly recommend staying here. The tasting menu is delicious. The staff were really friendly and accommodating.

Friendly, helpful staff. Went out of their way to accommodate special diet. Good location. Lovely room and bathroom. Room came with kettle, coffee machine, fridge and snacks. Breakfast excellent. Dinner menu was not for us, too fancy and not enough choice, although they did offer talk to chef. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Lovely terrace to sit and have a drink. No air conditioning but fan was provided. Rain shower but shower caps provided.

This is a magical hotel sitting in a gorgeous town. We loved everything about it. The team members are very friendly. The rooms are lovely especially the deep bath after a long hike. We had dinner there on one of our two nights. The food was amazing - this chef is very talented. The breakfast was also especially good. A hearty cooked breakfast to set up the day ahead

Not sure where ‘Beach Boy 2009’ was staying - sounds like it was another hotel!! Given that usual check in time is 3.00pm, maybe that explains some of the housekeeping issues in the morning? We certainly didn’t have to drag our own suitcases upstairs when we arrived at 2.00pm on Sunday - they were taken upstairs for us once the room was ready at 3.00. The restaurant was not ‘over-rated’ for us - we really enjoyed the wonderful menu on three evenings and ate different (and delicious) dishes every time - so maybe that is a question of taste? We loved the hotel, food and wine, and appreciated the excellent service from all members of staff. Comments definitely not written by the hotel!!

This is definitely not a five star hotel. There are many flaws and issues that detract from what it could be. First, upon check in, we were shown to a room on the second floor of the new pavilion. There is no elevator and no-one to assist you with your luggage so it is up to you to drag your suitcases up the stairs. The room itself was quite nice except for the tiny shower, but at least it had a separate shower. Then there was the issue of no 'do not disturb' sign to hang on the door. We had arrived after a long overnight trip from North America to London, then a 3 hour train ride and a then a car trip to Ambleside. We were very tired and looked forward to sleeping in. But at 8:30 a.m. the housekeeper opened our room door and then again at 9 a.m. There was no way to prevent that. The restaurant is way over-rated. The menu never changes and the selections are not great. Also, there is a bistro menu but if you want that you need to arrange for it in advance and you are banned to a separate dining room since you are not permitted to eat that food in front of other guests. This is not a bad place to stay. It is just not as spectacular as the other reviews suggest which always makes one think that they are composed by the hotel itself.

Wij hebben hier 4 nachten verbleven in een classic plus room. Goede kamer en mooie badkamer. Er loopt zeer veel personeel rond. Personeel is vriendelijk maar niet attent genoeg. Het is een prima hotel maar voor deze prijsklasse mag je wel een wat betere, meer attente, service en wat extra aandacht verwachten. Wat kleine extra’s waardoor je je als gast extra welkom en inde watten gelegd voelt. Zoals een welkomstdrankje, wat chips/nootjes erbij als je een borrel bestelt en dat de koekjes op de kamer iedere dag worden bijgevuld. Wij hebben 2 avonden in het restaurant gegeten. Het eten is goed maar de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding klopt niet. De kok toont te weinig creativiteit. Zo kregen wij 2 avonden precies dezelfde voorafjes en tussengerechten. Ik vind dat voor deze prijs niet goed. Ook is het menu veel te beperkt als je vegetariër bent. Al met al vonden wij het een goed hotel maar je betaalt te veel voor wat je krijgt.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Rothay Manor and we were not disappointed. The whole experience from beginning to end was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts and the evening dining was a joy (word of caution - not really suitable for those who expect a large serving of meat and two veg followed by pud as the menu reflects the creative flair of the celebrity chef and is a whole facinating dining experience in itself). Friendly staff do their best to make the visit special. We will be back!

The room didn’t correspond to the price or star rating of the hotel; nowhere to put the suitcases other than middle of the floor and impossible to open windows on the middle of a road literally only a few metres away. This is not 4 star accommodation and certainly not worthy of (well) over £200 per night. It’s a shame as the hotel is pretty and probably has nice rooms; ours was shamefully overpriced in terms of value for money. The breakfast was very good and varied, but dinner was very limited in choice and the imposed service charge not appreciated.

Property is excellent in its condition and ambiance. The staff are all very professional and courteous. Food is of a high quality. Wechave now stayed here several times over several years. We will be back.
