勞頓與勞里斯頓法院(Lauriston & Lawton Court Hotel)

Stayed for one night after a visit to the theatre. Very warm welcome on arrival. I had found a parking place outside and was given a permit, so no payment necessary. Was even offered the use of the permit the following morning if we wanted to visit the town. Room was a decent size with a double bed, comfortable sofa and ensuite with a bath, (as requested) Had a late night drink at the bar following the concert. Reasonably priced at £7.00 for a pint and a half of lager. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, probably one of the tastiest I can remember. All in all brilliant for £77 mid week B&B.

Friendly, helpful staff, warm and informative welcome and check out. Room had stunning sea views, bed comfortable, pillows excellent, room near and clean, bathroom smart and clean. Nice touches…chocolates left for guests as well as hot chocolate and marshmallows, touch lamps with phone chargers. Breakfast also 10/10. Thank you, we’ll be back.

We where greated straight away at the front desk . The hotel is in agreat location by the promenade and easy parking out side of hotel .The staff are very helpful and friendly the room was excellent with a sea view. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection from toast to full cooked breakfast

We were welcomed by the friendly helpful hosts. Shown to a sea view bedroom which has recently been upgraded to ensuit. ❤️ Its the cutest shower and loo room I have ever seen. Well done 🤗 the breakfast was out of this world, congratulations 🎊

we arrived on 23/11/23 and the first difference we noted was we were asked to pay up front ? That evening we went out for a meal and on returning for a final drink we found they no longer sell wine in full bottles just the single measure plastic ones and no cider other than Rekorderlig fruits and no gluten free Peroni (both of which they used to do). Next morning the breakfast was a bit chaotic and on the Saturday morning after the other family members arrived the night before it was even worse, not enough room because of too many tables in the room, people queuing for the tea machine which in turn blocked off access to the cereal, juice and yogurts etc and the toast machine in the passage way blocked off the stairs for guests going up and down. The staff were struggling to get round which probably accounted for the breakfast being look warm (bearing in mind tea/coffee, toast and breakfast previously was served to the table). As for the rooms the one with the jacuzzi bath could not be used because the plug didn't work and our room needed the dressing table light changing and bulbs putting in the lounge lamp and ceiling light, the maintenance man tried his best but had to order a plug but he did change our bulbs. We did ask for room service one day, they made the bed, didn't change the cups, didn't take the used wine glass back to the bar, hoover up or wipe the basin down and more importantly didn't lock the door when they left. we did speak to staff about the issues and were told to speak to the manager but he was not in at the time and I did not see him on either of the four days and nobody made any effort to contact me. when we left Sunday morning people were queuing to pay there room bills ? This is the first time in fourteen years we have not booked various dates for next year. I can only hope that the "we are in transition" excuse expires soon and we start to see some good reviews before we consider going back which seemed to be the consensus with fellow guests.

From being an award winning traditional bed and breakfast accommodation it has recently changed hands. Traditional serving of breakfast with a vast array of fresh fruits have been replaced by fruit such as just "strawberries on the edge of bad "blueberries tasting on the edge "for example. Toast is now self service as is hot 🔥 drinks,....join the queue and stand across other patrons trying to eat their food. Hot breakfasts on both day were luke warm and clearly some of the products are now budget quality. The spacious 3 dining areas are now crammed into 1 cramped area making it difficult for getting in and out and even more difficult for staff to clear tables. A decision on heating seems to have been made based on economising for the new owners at the expense of the comfort of paying guests. Over the 3 days, 2 nights we were there all the radiators downstairs in all areas remained off!Remember that this is past the middle of November. On the second morning I noticed at least 3 couples sat having breakfast in THEIR COATS!!!! We were sat at a small table for 2 ,the only available one in the open area (x second lounge)freezing with the front door permanently open! On the 2 evenings we came back to our room to get changed to go out to a local restaurant it was too cold 🥶 for taking a shower. The heating in our room did not come on until 630pm and we had been in both evenings from 5pm. The heating came back on in the mornings at 8am. Sadly the bedroom skirting boards were covered in dust and we had sheets that did not cover the mattress! We spoke to at least 4 other couples who like us have been regularly for upwards of 15 years and like us recommended this establishment to friends as the best.We all agreed that the standards now were terrible, the premises cold 🥶 and the cranped eating areas and cold breakfasts unacceptable. We all agreed that we would never return again, the end of an era, if Ian,Carolyn ,Scotty and Hannah could see this now (previous owners)they would be heartbroken 😢!!! I only gave this 2 stars 🌟, one out of loyalty and one for location. Totally ruined our stay. Already planning a stay at the Empire Hotel next time.

Stayed here several times before,during and after covid. It was a lovely friendly family run hotel,however was told it was sold the week before our stay .yu can tell as the rooms were not as clean as they used to be with niggling little faults e.g. shower temp button broken a piece of the toilet roll holder sticking out rom the wall and also massive cobwebs on the main light unseen until you turned it on .

We have stayed here several times,4 out of the last 5 years,without complaint but this year we arrived to a sea view room with the restricted view due to scaffolding.When asked about this we were told that an email has been sent.Along with several other guests we talked to this email never arrived! Very disappointing reaction from the staff on this subject. This seems to be a b&b in decline unfortunately.We will not be returning.
