斯勞特莊園旅館(The Slaughters Manor House)

We had booked a weekend stay in January, with a package that included the room, cream tea, dinner and breakfast. We paid for this to be fully flexible due to a health condition. Well within the amendment/cancellation window we called to reschedule due to a flare up of said health condition, only to be told that there was no availability for us to have that package at a future date. There were plenty of available rooms, they were just not going to honour the deal at which we booked it. The offer was for us to pay more, to get a different package that didn’t offer the same amenities. This is absolutely ridiculous - that’s like buying a voucher for something then coming to use it and not being able to. The one night stay was due to be over £500 so the package in question was hardly cheap. You expect a helpful and honourable service when you are spending this kind of money. It is also not clear upon booking that the ‘flexibility’ is not actually flexible at all… We’ve cancelled the whole thing and will book elsewhere because I can’t justify spending any more money and it not having the things that were included upon booking. They offered us a complimentary room ‘upgrade’ but looking online the room is exactly the same with slightly more floor space, why not just put us in the same room type and offer us the cream tea etc. we originally booked? We were also expected to pay more for this so baffled about how exactly this is ‘complimentary’. Lots of other beautiful places to stay in this area so wouldn’t bother here personally.

Comments fed back to the hotel. In summary - food excellent, service very poor and entertainment poor, and hard to see that this was as advertised. I’m guessing they tried to cover up operational issues this weekend and failed. If they didn’t and this is the standard for the price, then they’re way overpriced.

We just spent a week in the Cotswolds and it would be last on our list for dining. We had a group looking for a place to gather, and from booking to billing to dining, they were incredibly difficult. From staff to food to facility it all seems arrogant, stuffy and unaccommodating. There are lots of great places in the Cotswolds, I would skip this one.

I stayed in the Charlotte room last week. It cost a lot of money and was a good experience until I noticed in my friend’s room Maela that her emergency escape route was through Charlotte. No one had told me that my bathroom and bedroom were the escape route for most of the top floor rooms. I mentioned this at reception where the receptionist assured me this was not the case. Access to the fire escape was via a different door. This turned out to be a fire door into my bathroom which then gave onto the bedroom then the fire escape. So she misled me. I asked to be assured that the hotel would warn Charlotte residents that they were to be invaded in the event of emergency. The receptionist could not provide that reassurance. The manager was away at a funeral and this assurance was above her authority. The manager would surely email me on his return. He hasn’t. Three complaints: 1) no indication that I was lodging in a fire escape for over £300/night 2) told that this was not so. It was. 3) assured that manager would respond to my concern that other Charlotte residents would be warned. He hasn’t. Pretty shoddy service for over £300. Please be aware. They apparently don’t give a damn.
