藍毗尼村小屋旅館(The Lumbini Village Lodge)

This family run guesthouse offers basic accomodation and is situated very close to Lumbini's highlights. The very friendly owner can cater for all your needs from local trips to airline tickets. The guesthouse has no restaurant but a breakfast can be arranged if ordered in advance. Plenty of smal restaurants within walking distance. Rooms have basic facilities incl. ceiling-fan (no airco).

The hotel is located in Lumbini Bazzar, few minutes walk to the temples, well located and the street has delicious local eateries, (I recommend Sat Saheb Veg & Vegan Restaurant) banks and places to buy fruits and foods. The owner, Jupiter, is extremely friendly, helpful and speaks excellent English. There’s a great selection of guidebooks to borrow in all languages, and he will happily recommend places to visit. I joined him for meditation at the main temple, as he does much for the local community. For a fee he will drive you to connecting transport hubs. The room is large, has fan and windows open onto a courtyard. I had a few problems with the plug sockets, and Jupiter can lend you some adapters. The rooms and bathrooms are a little tired, water pressure is limited in the shower. Great WiFi in the main reception, and intermediate in the rooms. The friendliness made it a great place to stay and was cheaper than other accommodation in the area.

I was very tired after a 8hr bus ride from Pokhara today, checking in room 205 (pic) around 4pm, lying in bed for a nap and gradually found out that there were actually more than 20 mosquitos hiding at diff places in the room and they were starting to feed on me while I was trying to make the nap. "Hot water" was actually not even warm and it was actually from a weak solar heater. But the real problem was the shower faucet that only had dripping power .(pic) Wifi went dosconnected every 30 seconds, max 1 min if lucky. No electricity from the power socket (pic), I could not charge any of my gadgets at all. I asked the manager to let me go, then the boss offered to change rooms (yet I was told there was only one room left when checking in). When opening the new room door there were even more mosquitoz flying around . I gave up. I was asked to pay half the room fee 1000 / 2 = 500nps when I left the lodge at 6:30pm. So the net time I stayed there was no more than 180mins. I usually do not read guide books but I picked up this guidebook from a guesthouse bookshelf in Pokhrara and followed the advice to this lodge, unfortunaely it turned out to be the biggest regret I had on this journey in Nepal ( I survived all basic-oriented teahouses on Annapurna Circuit Trek and Poon Hill Trek in the past 30 days in Nepal yet this Lumbini Village Lodge was the first one I decided to packed up and run.) I will not touch guilde books anymore and I will only rely on more reliable online reviews from now on. The receptionist boy was very polite and helpful though, yet the business was not in his control.
