Lovely place and nice grounds. Clean rooms. Large outdoor spa pool. Very relaxing. Wonderful breakfast. Reception area is a little odd, just a table in the hallway. But otherwise great stay.

I was very disappointed with our stay at Taplow House Hotel. The photos make it look luxury and it was anything but this. On arrival there was no front desk, just a computer on a side table and no one to be seen anywhere. The bar lady spent ages trying to find a member of staff to get us checked in and never did find anyone, it was only when another staff member started her shift that we got checked in. There was a serious lack of security with the computer screen accessible for everyone to see. It looked like there were only a few people checked in to the hotel on the screen so we were hoping for a nice room, but we’re sadly let down. To get to our room we had to climb the narrowest of stair cases and had a very pokey room. We could not find any information book/QR code about the hotel facilities in the room, which is not really acceptable. My biggest complaint is that the bath/shower was extremely hard to get in and out of and I actually hurt my back getting out of it as it was such an awkward angle. We shall not be recommending or returning here again.

We booked through Spa Breaks a reasonably priced overnight stay with a treatment. On arrival the reception which is accessed around the back of the hotel was deserted there is no front desk so seemed a little odd. When we looked about the hotel we found a member of staff in the drawing room. It seemed pretty quiet which was promising for us - spa to ourselves! The staff member asked us where we had travelled from and she replied why have you come here it’s not very nice round here! We were shocked to hear a member of staff comment on the surroundings and it made me feel a little uncomfortable. We were then checked in. I was a little surprised at being able to view the computer screen with guests details so readily available for us to view (data protection alert). Unfortunately for us because we had booked the break through spa breaks we were not able to book our treatments and had been allocated them for 9am the following morning. We were a little upset after travelling so far that no communication / emails had been exchanged prior from the hotel only an email from spa breaks saying that we would be able to book the treatments at check in. They were of course fully booked so we were a little disappointed to learn this and expressed our unhappiness. The receptionist told us that she would reimburse the treatment costs through spa breaks which would be for £35 each treatment but this would take up to 2 weeks. Disappointed we weren’t going to get the massages after travelling a 2 hour car journey but hey ho. We were then asked to leave a holding card on the room. Of course pretty standard stuff. But what she had failed to mention was that the holding value was going to be £50. Be warned we weren’t and just thought it would be a card check for £1 or so! Even when you pay that £50 will now take 7-10 days to appear back in my account! The room we had no 17 had a view of a fire escape and a wall. It was by far not one of the rooms you see on the photographs. Again thanks to spa breaks package I guess. Rooms are very well equipped however and really clean. Faultless. Shower not great design a rain shower with no shower cap was a little tricky when trying not to get your hair wet. Bed was comfy but boy it gets hot in that room! Air con unit is installed thankfully. The spa. Well in all honesty I guess our break was tarnished by not being able to fully experience the treatment rooms. So we were left with an oversized jacuzzi and a sauna. We were lucky that the weather was good so we could sit outside by the jacuzzi but I am sorry to say after visiting a few very good spas with swimming pools steam rooms and fire and ice experiences this was very tame for the seasoned spa goer. The positives however is the food and wine. The food was faultless. So tasty very good variety for dinner including vegetarian and gf. However once again good old spa breaks we incurred many supplements for the food we wished to order. The wine was not cheap but good variety

We loved our stay at Taplow House Hotel and spa.Beautiful location,fantastic customer service,very clean and extremely well managed.Food was spectacular, imaginative and well cooked.Definitely coming back!

The hydrotherapy pool was cold, apparently it stopped working an hour after we checked in however when we asked reception if we could use the spa, they said it closes at 7pm. Why didn’t they know the hydrotherapy pool was not hot and actually cold. Reception are first point of contact they should have all information first hand. They only have a sauna no steam room. The Reservation team never pick up the phone booked everything we paid for at random times without contacting us. We prepaid for afternoon. when we sat down this was not clear on the paper staff refer to, so the staff member had to keep going back to reception to confirm. Alan the supervisor advised their was a Jacuzzi this was not the case. Sat down for dinner at 8.15 the menu is minimal and very boring. I picked the ham it was so bland, dinner was burger and chips well done my burger was burnt and came after 9pm. My redone burger and chips turned up at 9.45pm. I didn’t even bother ordering desert because i was so full from being so hungry. We have a kettle in our room with cups with no tea or coffee or sugar or milk, whats the point of of us having a kettle. The manager seemed clueless about all the issues we raised personally too him offering us a free drink is not enough we came here for a relaxing break and it has been the total opposite. I wouldn’t return here due to the hydrotherapy pool being cold, food bland and not cooked properly the first time, and the lack of empathy from the manager and reception staff. The only person who i generally felt was trying to do their upmost best was Meet, he was attentive, kind, polite and very welcoming he was trying to ensure our dinner didn’t end on a bad note thats who should be manager as he was very empathetic. The demeanour of the spa staff was shockingly poor, among the worst I've encountered. During my supposed 30-minute facial, which was cut down to 15 minutes without explanation, both the therapist and the manager repeatedly retreated around the corner, audibly laughing and conversing in another language. This unprofessional behaviour occurred not once, but twice. Furthermore, my attempt to address this issue via email was blatantly ignored by the manager. The abysmal service left me feeling deeply unsettled and exposed. As for the breakfast, I could have easily enjoyed a better meal at a Wetherspoons.

The setting was lovely, the dinner and the breakfast were excellent, the hotel needs some tidying up as bedrooms tired and very old fashioned, the general decor is dated and needs some interior design to make it the hotel it has so much potential to be. There didn't seem to be enough staff as service was very slow, there was only one gentleman serving in the bar, and the restaurant staff seemed like they needed training and didn't check on us or ask about our food and actually seemed to have forgotten us at the end of the meal. That being said, the dinner and breakfast was excellent s well done to the kitchen staff for saving it. The most memorable and outstanding part was the service from Hulya, she was so attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we've travelled to many hotels but I believe Hulya was the best I've ever experienced.

We attended a close friend’s 80th birthday lunch at Taplow House on 9th March. The location is gorgeous but it really was the staff that made it for us. They were all so attentive but in particular a lady called Hulya - she went above and beyond. She chatted to everyone and made them feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. What an asset she is and she really made the lunch a very special one - thank you ❤️
